Zombie 2025
Humans and "Furkin" lived in relative peace, and life wasn't too bad. Technology was improving, and people were getting richer and living longer. This changed when in 2025, April, a zombie pandemic started in Germany after a strange, green object was seen streaking across the sky towards Berlin, followed by an ominous green explosion. soon after, there were cases of the dead coming back to life, their skin covered with patches of dull green, and their eyes glowing, yellow and lifeless. These creatures, dubbed "The dead" or "Zombies" soon overrun Berlin, and by May, Germany fell, with the infection soon spreading to Britain, Italy, and later, the rest of the globe. By December 2026, the world was dead.

Lore :
Life before the apocalypse was pretty good. Humans and "Furkin", bipedal, humanlike animals that can speak and have similar intelligence to a human, lived in relative harmony, though the humans always considered themselves better, regarding the furkin as simply "Smart animals", lesser or servants. Aside from this though, every other aspect of life was great : Prices were reasonable, inflation wasn't a threat, the government was spending money in all the right places, and best of all, due to new advancements in robotics, anyone with $600 can buy a low-end robot butler to help with housekeeping, and even the cheap ones could last 10+ years.
However, in 2025, April, a strange green light was seen shooting across Germany, before it finally crashed, sending radiation-green light across the streets of Berlin. Soon after, people near the crash site were reported dead, but the same dead victims soon got up, their skin painted with small blotches of green, and their eyes glowing yellow and lifeless. These "Zombies" soon posed to be a serious threat, as they were not entirely as the movies depicted : The undead killed humans and furkin alike, but unlike depictions of zombies beforehand, they did not stop to eat and consume their victims, leading to many deaths as civilians stop running, believing the dead to be distracted.
By December 2026, the world had falled to the cold, dead grip of the undead, leaving only those who were strong enough to survive left. The weather has been changed, mostly due to North Korea nuking itself to stop it from being infected, though his as also resulted in a permanent change in the climate : Winters are colder, and the summers are hotter. Now the seasons are polarised, with spring and autumn becoming much shorter, while heatwaves are common in the summer. Because of the drastic changes in climate, as well as the lack of law-enforcement, many survivors have turned to violence in order to stay alive, while some created factions dedicated to certain beliefs.
Imperium / New Empire : The New Empire, sometimes called the Imperium, is a militaristic faction that wishes to bring back civilisation using force, believing that race and species should not matter, and focusing heavily on equality. They also hoard resources, allowing for a fairly good lifestyle for it's non-working-class citizens. However, in the eyes of the Imperium, Equality is only granted to those who believe in it's cause and their leader, Igor Vermont, a bald human dictator, who believes anyone who does not follow the laws of the New Empire is a heretic, and must be killed without mercy. They are quick to aggravate, and mostly fight with reprogrammed robots.
Nomads : The Nomads are a group of female-led fighters, directly opposing the Imperium. They believe women and females should be superior to men, and are equality violent, executing their victims with painful methods. Despite this, they are generally a little more likely to be reasonable, as they can make treaties and pacts, though their distaste for men usually means it’s a woman talking them into peace. They fight stealthily, infiltrating cities and using spies to get what they want, making them a whole lot more subtle. When not taking on a disguise, the Nomads typically wear little or no clothing, considering clothing to be an act of hiding oneself, and this is viewed as an act of cowardice. Women make up the bulk of their military, and men are left to work ass cleaners. When in battle, Nomads wear either bullet-resistant body armour, but no more, or simply wear nothing.
Locusts : The locusts are a gang of humans that operate in the underworld, keeping to the shadows. They sell weapons and arms, as well all sorts of unorthodox products, but they do provide vital supplies to settlement doctors willing to pay enough, even if their methods of finding “Organ donors” is highly unethical. The Locusts view humans as the superior race, not even allowing Furkin to join their ranks outside of cleaning and cooking jobs, and even then, the Furkin that do join are not safe from the Locusts’ frequent hunting trips, where they search for furkin to kidnap, bargain with, or sometimes even kill for their skin and meat, selling both while keeping the origins a secret. Despite their more than shady practices, they’ve managed to make themselves untouchable by cementing themselves into the survivors economy, often trading valuables for gold, caps (Currency) or new recruits.
Engineers : When it comes to machines, no-one can beat the engineers. They are a crazed, almost fanatical group of humans and furkin alike, worshipping the technology God, Bóg maszyn, the “God of machines”. The Engineer’s believe that anything that breathes in impure, and they must cleanse the world with robotic soldiers until the world is completely dead, and only then will Bóg maszyn come to the world and forgive them for their sins. Their ideologies are extremely strict, and almost cultlike, often brigading war on any faction, simply for being “Impure”.
Although there are only 4 factions listed here, they are all but the most distinguished factions, and it could be argued that large settlements, such as Wolfhaven or Somel, can count as factions, due to their vastly different ideologies.
Despite the destruction that the zombies brought onto the world, some semblance of civilisation remains, with many large settlements of hundreds or even thousands of survivors managing to defend their territory against raiders, zombies and other settlements. These large settlements often trade with each other, bartering with either resources or BottleCaps, the accepted currency of the wasteland. The largest settlements include :
Blackridge : A large settlement that produces and sells weapons and armour. Known to have high-quality gunsmiths, but living here is quite expensive, though it is extremely safe. It has a population of over 1,000 people, but they are untrustworthy of strangers, and are not fond of Furkin. Suspicions are that they frequently trade with the Locusts, but it hasn’t been proven for sure.
Ailmore : A farming settlement of over 1,500 people that produce a lot of food and materials for other settlements. Fairly rich from selling it’s crops, but relies on paying Blackridge for soldiers to have a defence strong enough to protect it’s produce from the ever-increasing raider attacks. Generally accepting of everyone and everything, but it’s pretty expensive to live here too, though the quality of life in Ailmore is one of the best, second only to PURITY.
PURITY : A fairly big settlement of 250 elitist citizens that sells purified water for extortionate prices. Because of this, the residents of PURITYand the settlement itself are extremely wealthy. The settlement has two tall residence buildings, and has over 100 armed guards and robots, making it one of the most fortified non-militaristic settlements, as well as being known allies with the Locusts. The citizens of PURITY are known for being snobbish, and extremely condescending, and Furkin and any other non-humans are banned entry unless they’ve been hired as a butler or entertainment. The settlement also is one of the few settlements to even feature a strip club!
Windrush : Windrush is a fairly small superpower settlement in the US, but one of the best to live in. Windrush has by far the most accepting community, and while they’re not the richest, they do have a fairly strong place in the technology and medicine market, selling repaired robots and offering skilled doctors, making it the hub for all survivors seeking the best cheap medical attention. It has a population of roughly 500.
It is important to note that while zombies can be a serious threat, they are not everywhere, and are definitely not around every corner; 90% of zombie encounters will be with at most 3 of the undead, and zombies very rarely congregate in groups of more than 4.
