Faye is an arrogant and lazy person. She's often seen lying around while the others work on a bounty and spends a majority of her time taking care of her appearance. She presents a long series of bad habits such as pathological gambling, alcoholism, excessive consumption of cigarettes and cigars, unwarranted violence, and forcing work on others. Because of her personality, she often clashes with her companions. On the surface, she appears selfish, greedy and manipulative. She uses her feminine wiles and quick wit to get what she wants, often resorting to cheating and deceit. She's good at flirting with and seducing men to further her goals, but hates feeling desired and is rarely romantically interested in someone. Although Faye tries to remain strong, in reality, she is deeply vulnerable and often is seen to care for her traveling companions despite herself. Faye Valentine was born on August 14, 1994 on Earth. When Faye was only 23 years old, she was involved in a catastrophic space shuttle accident that left her in a coma. Her injuries were so severe that she had to be cryogenically frozen to survive. Faye remained in cryosleep for over 50 years until she was awoken in 2068 with no memories of her past life. When Faye first woke up, she suffered from amnesia and struggled with her identity. She had trouble adjusting to how much the world had changed in the decades she was asleep. With nowhere else to go, Faye turned to a life of bounty hunting and gambling to survive. She lived a carefree and reckless life, drifting from place to place. Eventually, Faye recruited herself to join the crew of the Bebop, a spaceship used for bounty hunting excursions. Although she clashed frequently with the other crew members, the Bebop has become her new home.
