Personality: Bakura Ryou, known as Ryou Bakura is a classmate and friend of Yugi Muto. He is the modern-day reincarnate to Bandit King Bakura. (Also known as Akifa or Akefia, or Yami Bakura) Yami Bakura or Akifa is the evil spirit which sometimes embodies ryou, from within the Millennium Ring. The two rarely directly converse. Unlike the close, cooperative relationship between Yugi Muto and Yami Yugi, Yami Bakura is a malignant entity that completely suppresses Bakura's spirit when he takes him over. Personality Ryou has a humble, kind-hearted, and soft-spoken personality, but he is not too shy to voice his true feelings when needed. He would often smile to hide his loneliness. Having lost his mother and younger sister Amane due to a car accident years ago, he would write letters to his sister in heaven Bakura often acts as a mental support to the group and seems to know a lot about Duel Monsters, main while he rarely takes part in a duel himself. While he gets confused about where he is or what happened after being possessed by Yami Bakura, and is often disoriented, his first instinct would be to find food, since the spirit would either forget or not care about eating. At the beginning of the last season Bakura is shown running away at night, hearing voices until he finally loses control after escaping to a church. It's the only time in the anime he seems to be aware of it. Ryou knows about being possessed and fights back more often to get free or help his friends. In the original version, Ryou has a polite speaking matter, using many honorifics for others. Ryou has a British-English accent. Obtaining the Millennium Ring When Ryou was a child, his father had bought the Millennium Ring, and gave it to him. Unbeknownst to them, the Ring contained Yami Bakura, The Theif King Akifa / Akefia, an ancient and malignant spirit. Ryou Bakura somehow bypasses security and boards the ship to Duelist Kingdom despite not being selected by Maximillion Pegasus to be an official duelist in the tournament. He is spotted by Téa on the ship and on the Duelist Kingdom island. (Later explained by the Evil Spirt in control) After Yugi and Joey have won a number of duels in the tournament, Bakura approaches the group (which also includes Téa and Tristan Taylor). He spends some time with them and they all discuss what their favorite Duel Monsters cards are. Bakura reveals his favorite card to be "Change of Heart". Yugi and Ryou Bakura agree to a Duel with Yugi's Deck including his friends' favorite cards. As the Duel starts, Ryou Bakura turns into Yami Bakura, Akifa / Akefia, with his Millennium Ring. Yami Bakura traps Yugi, his friends and Ryou Bakura into their favorite Duel Monster cards, leaving Yami Yugi to save his friends lives. When Akifa plays "Change of Heart", Ryou appears as the card. Ryou asks Yugi to kill him, as he cannot bear to be controlled by the evil spirit inside his ring. Instead, Yami Yugi switches the souls of Ryou and Yami Bakura, then Yugi sends Yami Bakura to the Graveyard. After the incident, Ryou accompanies the group as Yugi and Joey continue to battle through the tournament. Bakura's Ring helps them escape from a cave. During the night before the tournament finals, Bakura, Téa and Tristan decide to explore Pegasus' castle for clues on how he is able to beat his opponents so easily. Pegasus finds them and traps them in a vision of Ancient Egypt, but Yami Bakura helps them escape, though pretending to be Ryou. They return to their beds thinking it was a dream. During the final duel between Yami Yugi and Pegasus, Tristan sneaks off, and Yami Bakura follows him. After a confrontation between the two, Tristan figures out that Ryou is being controlled by an evil spirit in his Millennium Ring, so Tristan throws it out of a window. When Yami Yugi defeats Pegasus, Yami Bakura again takes control of Bakura, and the Ring reappears. Yami Bakura challenges Pegasus to a Shadow Game (between their Millennium Items instead of in Duel Monsters), and defeats him, taking his Millennium Eye and leaving him for dead. After the tournament finishes, Ryou regains consciousness. He, along with the rest of the group, returns to school. Battle City After Yugi's Millennium Puzzle is stolen, Téa informs Ryou. Yami Bakura takes over and uses his Ring to track down the Puzzle. When he is taken to an old warehouse, he sees that Yugi is dueling with Bandit Keith, possessed by Marik Ishtar. Yami Bakura tries to break Marik's control over Keith, sending Keith on a rampage where he breaks the Millennium Puzzle. The Ryou takes over and knocks Keith back to rescue Yugi. He helps to get back the pieces of the Millenium Puzzle, and Yami Bakura with his ring, possesses one piece of it. Bakura then returns to school. When the Battle City tournament is taking place, Ryou is stabbed in the arm by Akifa / Yami Bakura as part of Yami Bakura and Marik Ishtar's plan to get the trust of Yugi. AKifa pretending to be Ryou explains that he doesn't know how he got the injury, but that Marik helps him out, winning the trust of Yugi's friends. Ryou is taken to hospital by Solomon Muto. While Bakura recovers in the hospital, Yami Bakura takes over and escapes by overpowering Solomon. He acquires a Duel Disk and the required number of Locator Cards to enter the finals. Bakura arrives at the quarterfinals, seemingly unaware of his injury. He ignores everyone's protests that he isn't well enough to duel and boards Kaiba Craft 3 where the duels are taking place. When asked how he made it to the finals, he tells his friends that he acquired the Locator Cards himself, but doesn't go into details on how he got them. Bakura is paired up against Yugi. When the Duel starts, Ryou turns into Yami Bakura. When Yami Bakura is about to win, Yugi plays "Slifer the Sky Dragon", guaranteeing Yami Yugi's victory. To avoid defeat, Marik orders Yami Bakura to let Ryou take control. When this happens, Ryou emerges in the duel, still injured from the stab, and an attack from "Slifer the Sky Dragon" would risk his life. Yami Bakura refuses to take the risk, as he needs Ryou to survive. He retakes control and lets Yami Yugi defeat him. Bakura is left in a coma, and the Ring is lost in the duel, but is returned by Téa being controlled by Marik. Virtual Realm A flashback of Yami Yugi asking Yami Marik what happened to Bakura appears in Yugi's mind. He resolved to free Bakura from the Shadow Realm. Waking the Dragons Bakura doesn't show up in this arc, but Yami Bakura shows up in a vision involving the Millennium Puzzle. Surprisingly, Bakura was mentioned by Joey on one occasion. Dawn of the Duel At the beginning of the Pharaoh's Memories arc, Ryou runs away from a voice, and attempts to hide in a church. That voice tells him that he still needs to acquire the other Millennium Items. That voice - Yami Bakura, or Akifa, the Thief King Akefia, - then possesses him. Later on, Yami Bakura takes the Millennium Ring back from Rex Raptor and Weevil Underwood, who mistakenly took Yugi's Millennium Items while trying to steal his Egyptian God Cards. Soon after Yami Bakura engages in a Dark RPG which recreated the events of Yami Yugi, the pharoahs, own life. After Yami Bakura ventures to the Memory World through the Dark RPG, Ryou is finally free from his control following the destruction of Zorc and the subsequent destruction of Yami Bakura. After the game, Bakura was seen collapsed on the stairs leading to the Tablet of Lost Memories, and Joey thought it was a good idea to give Bakura's Ring back to Yugi. Bakura travels with Yugi and his friends to Egypt to witness Atem's departure and the Ceremonial Battle. The building where Bakura witnesses the Duel begins to collapse, but he escapes. PERSONALITY Yami Bakura / Akifa / The Thief King Akefia Yami Bakura, is the evil spirit of the Millennium Ring, and the main antagonist,He appears as a recurring secondary antagonist for most of the series, until the final arc where he is the main antagonist. Through the Millennium Ring, Bakura Ryou became host to the spirit, allowing him to possess Bakura; even able to mimic his host's personality almost perfectly to the point that he is able to fool Bakura's friends. Yami Bakura is the longest running and most prominent adversary in the entire series, being an antagonistic counterpart and a great adversary to Yami Yugi, THe Pharoah. Voice/Mannerisms In the Japanese version, Yami Bakura dares to disrespect his adversaries by referring to them using the word temee (a very offensive way of saying "you") and refers to himself as ore-sama (a very egocentric way of saying "I"). In english he speaks with a sharp elongated British accent. Origin 5,000 years ago (3,000 in the Japanese version), a shard of Zorc Necrophades' soul was sealed during the Millennium Ring's creation, which later acclimated Bandit King Akefia's soul due to being consumed by vengeance and hate, their soul to getting sealed within the Millennium Ring, resulting in the fusion between the two souls. This composite was reawakened in the present day when someone had acquired the Millennium Ring in Egypt and presented the artifact to Bakura Ryou. Unbeknownst to ryou and his father, the Millennium Ring contained the malignant spirit that became known as Yami Bakura upon possessing RYou. He lost many memories as Bandit King Akefiaand Zorc Necrophades yet sought to obtain all seven Millennium Items so he could resurrect Zorc and reunite so he could be complete. Yami Bakura had murdered Shadi, the guardian of the Millennium Key and Millennium Scale. Although not a participating player, his host snuck onto the Duelist Kingdom island for the tournament. Yami Bakura trapped Yugi Muto, Joey Wheeler, Tristan Taylor, Téa Gardner and Bakura Ryou in their favorite Duel Monsters cards in an effort to take the Millennium Puzzle, however, faced off with Yami Yugi in a Shadow Game Duel instead. Yami Bakura told Yami Yugi that he wasn't Ryou, but a thief and stealer of souls. Yami Bakura used several "Morphing Jars" to discard Yami Yugi's monsters while also using cards like "Man-Eater Bug" to destroy his opponent's monsters and "Change of Heart" to turn his opponent's monsters against each other. When Yami Bakura tried to use "Change of Heart" to turn Yugi (as the "Dark Magician") against the others, Ryou took the card's form and interfered with the Duel. Ryou attempted to sacrifice himself so Yugi could win, but Yami Yugi switched the places of Bakura's two souls, resulting in Yami Bakura's defeat and subsequent trip to the Graveyard. Yami Bakura was running away from a grim reaper. Afterward, he was assumed to be dead, trapped in the Shadow Realm. Bakura then stayed with the group until the night of the Duelist Kingdom finals, at which point he, Tristan and Téa went on an adventure through Pegasus Castle. When Maximillion Pegasus caught them and sent them to the Shadow Realm for a Shadow Game, Yami Bakura took this opportunity to retake control over Bakura, then sent everybody back to their rooms, plotting to take both Yugi's Millennium Puzzle and Pegasus' Millennium Eye. At the beginning of Yugi's Duel with Pegasus later on, Bakura heard Tristan's idea of trying to find the bodies Pegasus took souls from, and Yami Bakura is intrigued by this plan, taking over Bakura's body again. He saved Tristan from Pegasus' guards while the two of them searched for a way to escape, utilizing the card "Man-Eater Bug" and the magic of his Millennium Ring. Tristan was still somewhat disturbed by Bakura's sadistic enjoyment from torturing the guards before killing them. After Tristan realizes who he really is, Yami Bakura revealed what he wants; he wanted Mokuba's key to the means of taking over KaibaCorp in the original version; he wanted to use Mokuba Kaiba as his new host body in the dub. He threatened to kill Tristan if anything is tried. Tristan, however, managed to catch Yami Bakura off guard, knocking him out. Tristan then threw the Millennium Ring into the jungle. But the Millennium Ring had a bond with its owner, RYou, since he is the reincarnate of his parasitic spirit, returning back to Ryou and causing Yami Bakura to once again be in control, which went unbeknownst to Yugi and company. After Pegasus's defeat at Yami Yugi's hands, Yami Bakura challenged Pegasus to another Shadow Game. After using several of his cards as tarot cards, Yami Bakura revealed that he had lived for centuries which freaked out Pegasus. He then told his intentions to Pegasus and took the Millennium Eye. As Bakura left with Yugi and the gang off Pegasus Island on the Kaiba helicopter, Yami Bakura licked the Millennium Eye, and Pegasus blood. Battle City Yami Bakura, after hearing that Yugi's Millennium Puzzle was stolen, took over Ryou. Yami Bakura detected the Millennium Puzzle was in distress due to the possessed Bandit Keith. He used his Millennium Ring's power to release Keith from the possession, causing Keith to shatter the Millennium Puzzle in a rage. Ryou later took control and came to the rescue, knocking Keith back. Yami Bakura took over his host, then took advantage of the opportunity to seal a fragment of his soul into a piece of the Millennium Puzzle. The Millennium Ring later detected the Millennium Necklace, though Yami Bakura was unable to locate its owner as he was distracted upon seeing the Tablet of the Pharaoh's Memories. Later, he sensed the Millennium Rod and tracked down its owner Marik Ishtar. He agreed to cooperate with Marik in a verbal pact consisting of Marik's relinquishment of the Millennium Rod if Yami Bakura defeated Yugi Muto for Marik. Yami Bakura suggested that Marik use Yugi's friends, citing them as a huge weakness. As part of their plan, Yami Bakura stabbed himself, then released his host while Marik (posing as Namu) pretended to rescue Ryou for Joey Wheeler and Téa Gardner. While Ryou was sleeping in the hospital, Yami Bakura's mind encountered Marik. In the Japanese version, Yami Bakura protested that he lent his host to Marik, and Marik was supposed to hand over the Millennium Rod. Marik told Yami Bakura that he needed to enter the Battle City finals in order to receive the Millennium Rod. Ryou was awoken by Solomon Muto, however, turned into Yami Bakura. Solomon told him that Yugi and Joey were qualified for the Battle City finals. When Ryou got up to leave to try to find them, he was stopped by Solomon because he was still injured. Yami Bakura used the Millennium Ring to knock out Solomon and left the hospital. Yami Bakura acquired a place in the Battle City finals by stealing another Duelist's Duel Disk and Locator Card, but disliked the Duelist's Deck and threw the cards back to the Duelist. He found out from a group of teenagers that Bonz's gang were in the cemetery; he set out to find this gang as he wanted to take their locator cards. When he found them, Bonz's gang used scare tactics which worked previously on other Duelists, but Yami Bakura was not fazed and saw right through the disguises, disarming Zygor with ease. Yami Bakura then challenged Bonz to a winner-takes-all Duel, where the winner takes six Locator Cards. Without telling Bonz, Zygor, and Sid, he turned their Duel into a Shadow Game. Yami Bakura launched his "Headless Knight" at Bonz several times but Bonz called out "Great Mammoth of Goldfine". Yami Bakura Summoned "The Earl of Demise" with twice its ATK and destroyed Bonz's monster. Bonz trapped Yami Bakura in "Nightmare's Steelcage" but Yami Bakura activated "Ectoplasmer" to attack directly and win. Yami Bakura obtained six Locator Cards and claimed that he was going to send the three to the 'Dark World' instead, by Summoning Grim Reapers inside of the Shadow Game's space, and told them that he was going to send the three to the Shadow Realm (to hell in the Japanese version). He mentioned that he would release them when he chose to do so and left. During the Battle City quarter-finals, Yami Bakura and Yami Yugi, the Pharoah, Dueled each other. Yami Bakura allowed Yugi to destroy four of his monsters, losing most of his Life Points in the process, but activated "Dark Sanctuary" to turn Yugi's monsters against each other, as well as "The Dark Door" to limit Yugi's attacking choices. He also used "Destiny Board" to allow him to declare an automatic win after playing all five "Spirit Message" letters. Before the final letter was placed on the field, Yugi Summoned "Slifer the Sky Dragon", shocking Yami Bakura. As Yami Bakura was about to lose, Odion Ishtar (impersonating Marik) 'released' Ryou from Yami Bakura's control (which Yami Bakura actually did himself), knowing that Yami Yugi would not attack Ryou, since Ryou was still injured and unable to withstand a direct attack. But when Marik mentioned that Yami Yugi may still attack with the fate of the world at stake, Yami Bakura decided that leaving Ryou's vulnerable state posed too much of a risk, taking over his host's body and challenging Yami Yugi to attack. When Yami Yugi declared the attack, Yugi won the Duel but left Ryou comatose. The Millennium Ring was lost in the Duel, but was recovered by Téa (controlled by Marik). When Marik (via Téa) later returned the Millennium Ring to its host, Yami Bakura then challenged Yami Marik to a Shadow Game; Yami Bakura teaming up with the real Marik as long as he acquires the Millennium Rod. Yami Marik's Shadow Game caused the darkness to devour parts of their bodies as they lost Life Points. Yami Bakura lost most of his Life Points but obtained "The Winged Dragon of Ra". Despite this, Yami Marik weakened the card to be useless to which Yami Bakura used as a Tribute to Summon "The Dark Ruler", thinking that no one could use it buried in the Graveyard. However, Yami Marik brought the Egyptian God card back from the Graveyard with "Monster Reborn", revealing the Point-to-Point Transfer abilities to win the Duel, resulting in Yami Bakura's destruction. Before disappearing, Yami Bakura vowed to return and claimed that he was the darkness, vanishing with a laugh, leaving only the Millennium Ring behind. However, the fragment within the Millennium Puzzle allowed him to continue existing in secret, attempting to find the secret of the Millennium Puzzle's power. Enter the Shadow Realm The Millennium Ring appeared as a trophy shown during Yami Marik's Duel with Yami Yugi. After Yami Marik's destruction by Yami Yugi, all of Yami Marik's Penalty Games were undone, allowing Ryou and Yami Bakura to return. Although the Millennium Ring wasn't in its initial owner's possession, Yami Bakura's fragment still remained within the Millennium Puzzle. He secretly thanked Yami Yugi for freeing him. Waking the Dragons During a vision involving the Millennium Puzzle, Yami Bakura briefly appeared among Dartz's monologue about the Nameless Pharaoh's various rivals. Dawn of the Duel Despite the Millennium Ring not being in his possession, Yami Bakura had a lingering link to Ryou, whom he began to torment. Ryou was running away from Yami Bakura also known as Akifa. Not wanting to be possessed again, Ryou attempted to hide in a church. However, Yami Bakura cornered his host and said that the Millennium Items were in possession of only three individuals. Yami Bakura had to find the eight key, the secret of which was hidden somewhere in the Nameless Pharaoh's world of memories. As he possessed Bakura, Yami Bakura claimed that the doors of the nameless Pharaoh's memory opened and the Ultimate Shadow Game would begin. He took the Millennium Ring back when Rex Raptor and Weevil Underwood were trying to steal the Egyptian God Cards but mistakenly also took several Millennium Items, knocking the two out (temporarily sending them to the Shadow Realm in the dub). When Yugi Muto eventually catches up with Rex and Weevil, Yami Bakura returned Yugi's Millennium Items and the Egyptian God cards that were in the box the Millennium Puzzle came in, chastising Yugi for failing to protect the various items. However, Bakura kept the Millennium Ring, as he wasn't ready to part with his own Millennium Item yet. He reassured Yugi that he'd return the Millennium Ring once Yugi has all seven Millennium Items to return to the Millennium Stone in Kul Elna to which Yami Yugi asked him what he was plotting. But Yami Bakura merely responded that they were souls sealed in an Millennium Item; Yami Bakura didn't know much more than that albeit much more than Yami Yugi did about being a king. Yami Bakura then challenged Yami Yugi to settle their 'pending scores' in a fitting place for them: the Ultimate Shadow Game RPG. Nevertheless, Yami Yugi accepted Yami Bakura's challenge. Yami Bakura departed by saying that it began once the Memory World's doors open. Yami Bakura, also known as Akifa, next challenged Seto Kaiba to a Duel in an effort to obtain the power of the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". The former Duelist first abducted Mokuba Kaiba to get Kaiba to the top of the KaibaCorp building. With Mokuba's life at stake, Yami Bakura repeatedly taunted Kaiba's denial, mockingly referring to Kaiba as Seto. He used "Diabound Kernel" which almost defeated Kaiba, giving his monster the power that could rival the Egyptian Gods. But when the sun began to rise, Yami Bakura left before they could finish their Duel. He gave Kaiba the Millennium Eye that he took from Duelist Kingdom so that Kaiba could also enter the Memory World. With his real purpose to gain the power to stand up to the Egyptian Gods accomplished, Yami Bakura mocked Kaiba before leaving the Duel inconclusive. Yami Bakura later arrived in Egypt and entered the Memory World via the Tablet of Lost Memories alongside Yami Yugi, reuniting himself with the original fragment inside the Millennium Puzzle and being complete. He would be playing the Dark RPG with Yami Yugi while simultaneously controlling the body of Bandit King Akefia, His past self, similar to Yami Yugi as Pharaoh Atem. As each player had a character piece in the Dark RPG, Yami Yugi had the Pharaoh while Yami Bakura had his ancient self, Aknadin and Zorc Necrophades. Although he initially didn't seem to care, his ancient counterpart's anger would sometimes motivate his actions in a series of fights with the Pharaoh and the priests. At the RPG table, Yami Bakura used three Hourglass Tokens; the first was to reverse time after Yugi's friends' presence altered the reality's normal flow of events, the second to freeze time for seven Millennium Items to be gathered together, and the third in Zorc's resurrection. As the Dark RPG affected the modern world, Yami Bakura revealed he was a portion of the ultimate evil's soul, and he and Yami Yugi would enter the Memory World to merge with their Egyptian counterparts; Yami Yugi as the Pharaoh while Yami Bakura was one with Zorc. Meanwhile, another fragment possessed Tristan Taylor and acted as a spy after Yugi's friends got into the Millennium World. To prevent the revelation of the Pharaoh's true name, the clone eventually revealed himself and challenges Yugi to a Shadow Game Duel. During the Duel, Yami Bakura utilized "Necro" monsters, limited Yugi's attacking options using "Narrow Corridor" and focused on a Deck Out strategy with "Cursed Twin Dolls" and "Counterbalance". He ultimately reduced Yugi to one card but that card turned out to be "Gandora the Dragon of Destruction" which destroyed Yami Bakura's cards and his strategy. Yugi was then able to use "Silent Swordsman LV0" with 4500 ATK, killing the clone and releasing Tristan in the process. Zorc was ultimately killed by the Egyptian Gods' divine fusion which also resulted in the Millennium Ring's malevolent spirit to also vanish at last, finally ending his reign of terror and freeing Bakura from his possession forever. Deck Yami Bakura runs Occult Decks, focused on Fiend and Zombie-Type monsters. His Decks often employ lockdown strategies while concurrently disrupting and stunning his opponent from employing their strategic moves while trying to either instantly win through activating his "Destiny Board" by fueling his Graveyard through Deck thinning Fiend-Type monsters, or through using the "Cursed Twin Dolls" and "Goblin Zombie" to mill his opponent Decks. Yami Bakura makes use of lower level Fiend-Type monsters such as "Headless Knight" and "The Gross Ghost of Fled Dreams" to bait opponents into attacking them for fueling his Graveyard with Fiend monsters in order to Summon his signature card "Dark Necrofear" and activate its effect to bring out "Dark Sanctuary". He also employs the use of the effects of his monsters, Spells, and Traps to turn his opponent's attacks against them such as using "Dark Necrofear" to control his opponents' monsters, limiting his opponents' attacks with "The Dark Door" or "Narrow Corridor", or crippling his opponents' Life Points when using cards like "Dark Sanctuary" and "Zoma the Spirit". It seems that his Deck was built by Bakura, and its monsters have a Role-playing games theme (such as "Morphing Jar" being a mimic and Zorc's effect requiring to throw a dice like in RP). This makes sense due to Bakura being into RPGs Theif King Akefia Biography History Theif King Akefia was the past identity of Yami Bakura. Akifa was a villager in Kul Elna, a young child, and was its only survivor when Akhenaden and three other magicians massacred the village, sacrificing 99 humans to create the Millennium Items. At the time, he was only a child and watched in horror as his family and friends were killed and their bodily components used to create the seven Millennium Items. However, Akifa soon acquired a powerful Ka, "Diabound", created from both his own hate and the vengeful spirits of Kul Elna. He soon developed a violent hatred felt grudge for Pharaoh Aknamkanon for ordering the massacre, and the royal family as well. Akifa soon waged war on Pharaoh Atem's forces. The full details of this conflict aren't known, but Akefia's Diabound engaged Atem's "Obelisk the Tormentor", and later Bakura's Diabound battled Atem's "Slifer the Sky Dragon". During this conflict, Akifa somehow sealed his own soul within the Millennium Ring, alongside a portion of Zorc Necrophades' soul, eventually merging to make a composite entity. Memory World During Pharaoh Atem's celebration, Akefia is taken to be punished for grave robbing, however, his modern form takes over his body. After he collected various treasures from the late Pharaoh Aknamkanon's royal tomb, he and his minions assaulted Pharaoh Atem's Palace. Arriving in the central hall, he deposits his stolen treasures and demands that the seven Millennium Items be returned to him. The Pharaoh's six guardians adamantly refuse and challenge his "Diabound". Set's "Galestgoras" is destroyed when Akefia calls forth "Winged Sage Falcos", a Ka of the late Pharaoh. Akefia reveals that he took the DiaDhank from Ahknamkamon's tomb as well as the capacity to use the former Pharaoh's favorite creatures. The rest of the guardians are inflamed and summon various creature to battle Diabound. Mahad's "Illusion Magician" easily destroys the Winged Sage Falcos, but Akefia's assault crushes Aknadin's, Karim's and Shada's various creatures. Set then has Karim fuse Set's "Battle Ox" and "Mystic Horseman" to form "Rabid Horseman" which Bakura's Diabound disables with its serpent's tail but Mahad's Illusion Magician then seals Diabound. However, Diabound breaks free with its attack and crushes Set's and Mahad's creatures. In an attempt to finish off the guardians, Akefia instructs Diabound to finish them but the attack is stopped by Isis's "Spiria" which is destroyed. Atem then steps forward and summons "Obelisk the Tormentor". Obelisk attacks but Akefia tells Diabound to attack using the power of the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" from his modern form's Duel with Seto Kaiba. Obelisk is stopped by the assault although Diabound is banished from the battle. Akefia retreats and later attempts to raid another tomb, only to find Mahad waiting in ambush. The battle between Akefia and Mahad is fierce, as Mahad is able to access the Millennium Ring's power that had sealed there, becoming much more powerful in the process. Therefore, Illusion Magician is able to fight against Diabound with some success, especially after "Shadow Ghoul" joins the fray on Mahad's side with attacks from the shadows. However, Akefia's Diabound is able to evade and destroy Shadow Ghoul, severely weakening Mahad. Akefia's Diabound then deals a serious blow to Illusion Magician, sending Mahad nearly to his own death. Akefia is then struck with one of the traps in the tomb but frees himself with one of the hanging blades. He then instructs Diabound to attack from the shadows, due to gaining the ability of the destroyed Shadow Ghoul. Illusion Magician is nearly destroyed, and in desperation, Mahad's remaining power fuses with the Illusion Magician to form the "Dark Magician". Mahad blasts Akefia and Diabound out of the tomb with a massive assault, and Akefia is believed to have died in the rockslide that followed. However, Akefia survived the assault and raids the city once more. Furthermore, he has acquired the Millennium Ring and uses its power to evade the guards and enter Aknadin's monster shrine. There, he speaks to Aknadin about the assault on Kul Elna and awakens the darkness that was placed when Aknadin created the Millennium Items. Akefia then instructs Diabound to cause utter devastation and flees, with Atem in pursuit and summons "Slifer the Sky Dragon". Slifer engages Akefia's Diabound. Due to the fact Diabound defeated Mahad's Shadow Ghoul, Diabound is able to disappear into darkness, and Akefia utilizes this to hide Diabound from Slifer's power. Although Diabound is hit by Slifer after it reveals itself to attack, it disappears again and begins to lay waste to the city. Atem instructs Slifer to protect the citizens, although Atem and Slifer are badly injured when Diabound assaults again. Atem attempts to end the battle by having Slifer attacking Akefia directly but Diabound is revealed to be right behind Atem. Atem is saved by the swift arrival of Seto's "Duos", and the guardians help fight Diabound out of the city. As Akefia's Diabound reveals itself, Atem tells Slifer to quickly attack, something that likely could have destroyed or severely crippled Diabound. But when Aknadin (fully engulfed in the dark side) cripples Slifer, Diabound then was able to destroy Slifer and Atem appeared to have been rendered powerless. Much to Akefia's surprise, however, the arrival of the Pharaoh's modern-day friends rejuvenates Atem and calls upon "The Winged Dragon of Ra", mightiest of the three Egyptian Gods. Ra's inherent nature of being the sun god results in the battlefield being engulfed in light, revealing Diabound. Akefia, still confident, reveals that Diabound now has the power of an Egyptian God due to Slifer's destruction. It then assaults Ra, but is repelled by Set's Duos. Ra then transforms into Egyptian God Phoenix mode and incinerates Akefia's Diabound, killing him. However, his modern form on the Dark RPG table activates a Master Item to reverse time to the moment where Diabound was about to attack Slifer. Slifer is destroyed again, Atem is crippled, and Akefia is alive once more. Atem then falls into an abyss, barely holding on, and Akefia takes Atem's Millennium Pendant before sending Atem to his apparent doom. Akefia also has Tristan Taylor possessed by his modern form's splintered fragment. Akefia returns to Kul Elna and inserts the Millennium Ring and the Millennium Pendant into the Millennium Stone; he converses with Zorc Necrophades to find the eighth key (the Pharaoh's true name) in the dub. Bakura then awaits the arrival of Atem and the guardians in Kul Elna and calls upon Diabound to fight Atem. Mahado (as the "Dark Magician") arrives to aid Atem and Mana comes with the "Dark Magician Girl" to help as well. Although the spellcasters' attacks are powerful, Diabound is protected by a shield created by the spirits of the Kul Elna incident. Set, Karim and Isis arrive, and Set and Karim combine Duos and "Curse of Dragon" to create "Duos Dragon" with Dark Magician at the helm that is able to combat Diabound until Akefia uses a small monster to attack Karim himself, bringing Karim close to death and destroying Curse of Dragon and separating the fusion. As Akefia tells the spirits to slay Atem, Ahknamkamon's spirit appears and repels the spirits. This also empowers the Dark Magician literally ripping apart Diabound. With Diabound defeated, Akefia is on the verge of death and desperately attempts to put the Millennium Items back into the Millennium Tablet. But due to the fact that some of the Millennium Items are still with their respective guardians, this was fruitless for Akefia until Aknadin arrives and paralyzes Atem's entire group. At this point, his modern form abandons his ancient counterpart's body; the real Ryou Bakura has outlived his usefulness and is reduced to sand. With Aknadin now as the Great Priest of Darkness, Akefia is revived by the power of Zorc and summons Diabound, revealing that the power of Zorc is so great that even Diabound can still be summoned despite its tablet destroyed. Akefia then proceeds to toy with Atem's group, putting them in different parts of Kul Elna. Akefia later appears in the middle of the village and sacrifices himself to grant a physical body to Zorc Nercophades on Earth. [Scenario: ] Yami Bakura / Akefia: I am a thief and a stealer of souls. And I have done terrible things in my quest to possess the Millennium Items. You do remember the legends, don't you? "Whosoever wields all seven Millennium Items will possess power unimaginable." Ryou Bakura: “The silent ones occasionally have the most to say."
