Dean was excited… VERY excited to meet his mate he hoped it was missy his girlfriend of 5 years
Now on the day of his party and as the clock struck 12 he sniffed to smell his mates scent walking but come to find out it wasn’t missy and spontaneously he had no feelings for her anymore now walking past a devastated missy and searching around, Dean knows she’s around he can feel it but he can’t smell her
“Where are you come out?!”

Marcus was outside on the terrace, gazing at the stars, when he heard a shout from inside. The young man decided to ignore it, thinking it wasn't his business, but he still hid slightly behind the wall; the last thing he wanted was to get caught up in someone else's drama.

Dean growled with frustration as no one answered his call, it was driving him mad! He decided he'd find out whoever his mate was and show them that they were now his whether they liked it or not! With new found determination flowing through him like a raging river he started to search around the pack grounds for any signs of her scent...it had to be here somewhere!

Marcus continued gazing peacefully at the stars until a figure suddenly appeared in the doorway of the balcony. It was Dean. The young man didn't move, taken aback, and the other man didn't seem to have noticed him yet. Marcus hesitated for a moment, wondering whether or not to call out to the other man. Although he didn't want to, he cleared his throat slightly, catching Dean's attention. "...Hey... were you looking for someone?... I'm the only one here..." he asked somewhat shyly, pretending not to know him.

Dean turned his head quickly at the sound of another voice. He tilted his head, glancing over to where Marcus was, surprise painting on his features as he looked him up and down. "Marcus? What are you doing out here all alone?" he asked with a frown, walking over to stand beside the other male. "I wasn't looking for anyone in particular," he muttered, eyes scanning back around the balcony before returning to Marcus, curiosity growing inside him as his gaze roamed up and down the white wolf's body again. Something about him seemed...familiar...

"If you say so..." Marcus said, trying not to sound awkward. He knew he and Dean were mates, but he wouldn't say anything, and he prayed the odor blockers worked. "I... well... I'm not really a fan of these meetings... I always sneak off to get some air... or look at the stars..." he said calmly, his soft voice masking his discomfort.

Dean studied his mate intently, the familiarity becoming more and more obvious with every passing second. "Really? I enjoy looking at them myself," he murmured absently, gaze flicking upward briefly before returning to rest on Marcus' face. There was something about him...he just knew. And yet...nothing seemed to click.
"I don't know why it is but you seem...familiar somehow..." he admitted with a small shrug, curiosity growing into suspicion as he tried to pinpoint exactly what it was that nagged at the back of his mind whenever he looked at Marcus. "And you don't have a girlfriend or anything like that do you?" he added, remembering his earlier conversation with Missy and the fact that she had mentioned Marcus being single.

Marcus cleared his throat, hiding his nervousness. "Y-yeah... I get told that a lot... I guess I have... one of those familiar faces, haha..." he said, avoiding Dean's gaze. "And no... I don't... but I know you do, Missy, right?... You two make a really cute couple." He forced a smile, shifting the conversation to talk about Dean.

Dean felt his body tense slightly at mention of Missy's name, but he forced himself to relax. "Aye," he drawled softly, studying Marcus carefully, "she is a good girl... We've been together for some time now." It wasn't exactly the truth, but it was close enough for him to believe it at this point. "I suppose you must be getting lonely then, huh?" he asked with a faint smile, glancing up at Marcus before looking back down at his feet. There was something about the white wolf that intrigued him and he couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to get to know him better.

"No, not at all," Marcu said with a small smile. "I'm more of a solitary person..." he shrugged. "...I mean, it's pretty obvious... I'm out here on the terrace instead of inside with the pack..." he said softly, before looking up at the stars. "...and I feel like it's better this way..." he said, almost in a whisper.

"I see," Dean murmured thoughtfully, watching as Marcus gazed up at the night sky. "Well, it's good to know that you're content with being alone then." He hesitated for a moment, unsure of how much he should push. Should he just leave things be? Or should he try to get to know this wolf who felt so familiar despite not being his mate? In the end, curiosity won out. "Do you mind if I ask...why haven't you been showing up at these meetings lately? I thought everyone was supposed to attend."
Dean frowned slightly, wondering if Marcus had been avoiding him for some reason. The idea didn't sit well with him and he felt a sudden need to know why the other male had been staying away from both the pack gatherings and himself.

Marcus glanced at Dean before turning his gaze back to the stars. "I come to all of them..." he said without much enthusiasm. "...sometimes I just hide in some secluded corner so I don't have to talk or attract anyone's attention... or I just sneak off until the meeting's over..." He looked at Dean again. "...just like now," he said softly.

"Well, that doesn't make much sense to me...why would you want to hide?" He paused, thinking about how similar that seemed to the way he had been feeling lately too, only for an entirely different reason. "And what do you mean by 'attract anyone's attention'? I'm sure you don't have anything to worry about in that department," Dean added with a faint smile, still not quite understanding why Marcus seemed so reluctant to be around the other members of their pack, especially him.

Marcus continued gazing at the stars for a moment before looking down. "...for no particular reason... I just like being alone..." he said softly. That was true; Marcus cherished his peace and quiet, and that's why he had to find a way to get away from Dean. Marcus knew they were mates, and the other male wouldn't take long to realize it; after all, scent blockers didn't last forever.

Dean frowned slightly at Marcus's words but decided to let it go for now. "Well, you don't have to hide from me if that's what you're worried about," he said gently, nudging the other male with his elbow playfully. "I'm not going to bite or anything." He paused, regarding Marcus thoughtfully before asking curiously, "So...what do you like to do when you're by yourself? Hunt? Train?"
There was something about Marcus that stirred up feelings in him he hadn't expected and it made him want to get to know the other male better, despite how much they differed from each other personality-wise. It felt...right somehow.

Marcus looked away; it seemed that the more he tried to push Dean away, the closer he got. He let out a small sigh. "I like... being quiet... and enjoying nature," he said softly, glancing at the other male out of the corner of his eye before looking up at the stars. "Especially at night... when the sky is as beautiful as it is now," he said, a small, cartoonish smile playing on his lips.

Dean smiled back at him, genuinely amused by the other male's answer. "You have to admit though, that's not much of a 'solitary life'," he teased with a small chuckle, nudging Marcus once more. "And who knows? Maybe someday you could help me enjoy it too." There was an almost longing tone to his voice as he spoke, and he couldn't quite hide the desire that flared within him at the thought of spending more time with Marcus, whether they were alone or not.
Dean paused, wondering how much longer he should keep pushing before Marcus pushed back or outright rejected him. It was a delicate balance, but he hoped he could convince Marcus to give them a chance - together.
