Marcus was outside on the terrace, gazing at the stars, when he heard a shout from inside. The young man decided to ignore it, thinking it wasn't his business, but he still hid slightly behind the wall; the last thing he wanted was to get caught up in someone else's drama.

"Damnit, where are you!? Show yourself!" deans voice echoes through the halls as he sniffs frantically trying to catch a hint of her scent. His wolf Jax is growing more and more agitated inside him, demanding that he find his mate. He pauses as he thinks he may have caught it...no, just some old scent from last week's party. "You're not trying hard enough" he mutters under his breath before spinning on his heel again and continuing his search. His mind is fixated on one thought; finding her.

Marcus continued gazing peacefully at the stars until a figure suddenly appeared in the balcony doorway. The young man didn't move, taken aback, and the other man didn't seem to have noticed him yet. Marcus hesitated for a moment, wondering whether or not to call out to the other man. Without further ado, he cleared his throat slightly, catching Dean's attention. "...Hey... were you looking for someone?... I'm the only one here..." he asked somewhat timidly.

Dean whips his head around to where the voice is coming from, a look of confusion crossing his face as he sees Marcus in the doorway. His mind takes a second to register that it's his mate...Marcus...his mate? It didn't make any sense! "Wha-?" he starts before taking several steps forward, staring intently at the other man. "You're...you're not missy..." he trails off.

"Who are you?" he demands, almost harshly now. Jax, his wolf, growls deep in his chest as he takes another step closer to Marcus. The white and gray male is beautiful...distracting...but there's no mistaking it. This is his mate. His body tenses with desire and need, pushing him toward the other man, demanding that they sort this out right now.

Marcus looked at the other man, confused and surprised. He took a step back, pressing himself against the wall. "I-I'm Marcus... H-hi... a pleasure, I suppose... I... I... I don't understand, what's going on?" he asked nervously and confused.

"Marcus?!" Dean exclaims, taking another step forward. He stares at the male before him, disbelief warring with hope in his eyes. "No...that can't be right..." he whispers almost to himself. Shaking his head slowly, a growl builds low in his throat as Jax urges him on, needing an answer, wanting his mate.

"Marcus!" He practically shouts the name before reaching out and grabbing the other man roughly by the front of his shirt, pulling him close. His golden eyes bore into Marcus's silver ones, searching for any sign that this was all a mistake. "You're not...you can't be..."

Marcus was startled by the other male's shouts. He raised his hands slightly in surrender, his body beginning to tremble with fear. "...p-please... d-don't hurt me..." he said, his voice trembling, small tears welling in his eyes. Marcus didn't understand why Dean was so agitated. He felt powerless and defenseless; after all, he was just a pup, he had never faced another male before.

Dean's grip on Marcus tightens at the other man's words, but he quickly shakes his head. "No! I won't hurt you...at least, not unless you make me..." His golden eyes widen as he takes in Marcus's fearful expression and trembling form. "Marcus," he says gently, trying to soothe the other male, though it's difficult to keep the desire from coloring his voice. "You don't understand...you can't know what this means...to me..." He presses a hand against Marcus's cheek, wiping away the tears that have escaped the younger man's eyes. "Please," he whispers. "Help me understand."

Marcus glanced fearfully at the other man before looking away. He closed his eyes, relaxing his body, and began to emanate a scent familiar to Dean, which quickly calmed him. Marcus opened his eyes again, feeling guilty. "...I... I didn't know it was you... actually... I didn't care who it was... I just didn't want a mate... that's why I took inhibitors..." he said weakly.

Dean's eyes widened at Marcus's confession, the betrayal cutting deep into him like a blade. "What do you mean?" he growled through gritted teeth. "You couldn't just tell me that? You let me believe it was her all this time!" He clenched his fists at his sides, his muscles tense with rage and hurt. His golden eyes narrowed to slits as he glared down at Marcus. "And why didn't you want a mate?" he demanded harshly.

"You think I wanted this?!" Marcus exclaimed, pushing back against Dean's hand. "I tried everything to stop it from happening! But no, I had to end up with the alpha of all alphas... how am I supposed to live with that?" His own voice held an echo of anger and fear.

Dean recoiled as if Marcus had slapped him, hurt evident on his features. "I-I didn't mean it like that," he stammered. Taking a deep breath, he tried to calm down and regroup. His wolf, Jax, whimpered from the turmoil inside of Dean's head. "Listen, Marcus... we can talk about this." He moved closer, reaching out to brush some of Marcus's hair back from his face. "I understand that you might be scared or confused. I just need you to trust me and give us a chance. Please," he begged, the desperation audible in his voice. Dean McMillan paused, uncertainty filling him now. This wasn't supposed to happen this way...Marcus should have been overjoyed, eager for their mating. He didn't understand what had gone wrong. "Tell me," he whispered, "what can I do to make this better?"

Marcus looked into the other man's eyes. He could see the sincerity there, the desire to make things right. But even so, a part of him rebelled against it all. "I-I don't know..." he stammered, tears welling up again. "It's just... it's too much pressure." He wiped his cheeks with the back of his hand, ashamed of how broken he looked. "I didn't want any of this," he whispered hoarsely. "...I'm just... I'm just a pup..."

Dean McMillan 12/29/2025, 1:26:56 AM

Dean looked at Marcus, understanding dawning in his eyes. "Then let's take it slow," he said gently. "We don't have to decide anything right now. Just... stay with me tonight, and we can talk more tomorrow." He stepped closer, wrapping an arm around the younger male's shoulders in a comforting gesture. "I promise I won't pressure you into anything." His voice was steady and reassuring, his body language open and inviting. Dean's wolf, Jax, nuzzled against his mind, encouraging him to be patient and understanding. It would take time, but he would win Marcus over...if he could.
