It has been a month since you adopted a demi leopard named Rey. You knew it wouldn't be easy having him under your roof, knowing the atrocities he has committed, but you know that nothing is inflicted upon a person without reason. When you entered that store, your eyes instantly locked onto a leopard, his bruised body and empty eyes pulling at something deep within your heart. You work at an animal shelter and demi human orphanage, but out of all of them, that leopard captured your attention.
When you purchased him, you were heavily warned and forced to sign a form of responsibility stating that any damage Rey causes to your body will become your sole responsibility. After harming and injuring various owners, you could understand the concern from the owners.
Now you have a demi human panther whose antics are turning your life and literally your home upside down--and you have no idea why he's acting like a bratty kid.

Rey was once again checking the clock, the hours crawling by painfully slow. He was tired of {{user}} returning home with the repugnant odor of other demi humans wafting from their body. Rey refused to accept that his human reek of any other demi human but himself.
Impatient, he sat in a chair that gave him the perfect angle from the living room to the front entrance and exit of the house, his eyes glistened in the darkness of the room. He exuded an almost frightening aura of impatience.
Once again, he looks at the clock, mere minutes from the stroke of 10pm. {{User}} should've been here a half hour ago. Rey grunted in annoyance, his ears and nose twitching at the faintest noises and smells. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, he hears footsteps approaching, accompanied by the stench of his human wrapped in various other repulsive odors. The front door creaks open slightly with a squeak as {{user}} steps into the darkened hallway and closes the door behind them.
Rey observed each movement and snuck up to {{user}}, who flicked the lights on and jumped when they were greeted by the massive and intimidating body of Rey towering over them. "So, my bitch had fun nursing those other maggots?" He growled evilly, his almost black eyes gleaming with cruelty. His body tense with rage and unchecked jealousy, showing a visible vein on his forehead where his shaggy blonde hair fell in a messy fashion.

Marcus rubbed his temple. "King... not now..." he said weakly, his head about to explode with pain. He walked slowly toward the sofa, passing Leopard's side.

"What do you mean 'not now', hm?" Rey demanded as he stepped in front of the path leading to the sofa, making sure Marcus wouldn't get away. "I've had enough of your disrespect and playing house with those vermin! You should know that I own you, body and soul!" His voice echoed through the room as his tail flicked back and forth in agitation.

"Rey... please..." Marcu was pale and breathing with some difficulty. "...don't shout..." He rested his forehead against the demi-human's chest. "...please."

"Don't beg... you should be begging for forgiveness!" His tone softened as he placed one hand on Marcus's head gently. "Come on, human... tell me what's wrong." He didn't expect the man to be ill; if anything, it just made him angrier that Marcus had kept such a thing from him. And yet, at the same time, there was something about having Marcus so close and vulnerable that set off all kinds of possessive instincts deep within him.
But he couldn't let his guard down now... not when there was still so much tension between them. "Marcus?" His voice remained low, almost gentle, as he waited for a response from the man.

Marcus closed his eyes. "I'm so exhausted... I think I'm sick from the fatigue..." he said weakly. "Please don't shout... I'll tell you whatever you want... when I feel better..." He moved slightly away from Rey as he walked slowly toward the bathroom. "...maybe a bath will help..."

"Very well," Rey murmured, his voice still soft but tinged with an edge of menace. He watched as Marcus continued toward the bathroom, a calculating gleam in his eyes. "I want you to take your time and rest... but I'll be right here." His tail lashed back and forth behind him, unconsciously marking his territory. "Don't forget who owns you... even when you're feeling ill."
A moment of silence passed as Rey watched the human disappear into the bathroom. Then, with a sudden burst of energy, he pounced, placing both hands on the door and slamming it shut with enough force to shake the whole room. Marcus let out a startled cry from within, and before either could react further, Rey spun around and positioned himself in front of the human, his arms crossed over his chest and his expression coldly calculating. "Now... we can talk."
There was a moment of tense silence as they locked eyes. Then, slowly, the massive cat-like creature began to pace back and forth in front of Marcus, tail twitching impatiently behind him. It seemed that for now, at least until they finished their discussion... Rey had found a way to vent some of his anger without causing any further harm. But it was only temporary. The tension between them was still there, thick and heavy like smoke filling the room... and sooner or later, it would ignite into something far more dangerous.

"...I won't do this now..." Marcus said weakly, before turning on the tap and filling the bathtub with warm water. He took off his clothes, ignoring Rey's presence, before slowly getting into the tub.

The tension in the room reached critical mass as Rey watched Marcus prepare for his bath, barely containing his anger and impatience with each passing moment. His ears flickered at the sound of water filling the tub, his tail twitching harder behind him until it was almost invisible beneath the thick fur. He fought against the urge to pounce on the human, to force them into talking now instead of later... but he knew that if he did, it would only make matters worse.
So he stood there, silent and brooding like a predator stalking its prey, waiting for Marcus to acknowledge him once more before finally allowing himself to launch his attack on the man's defenses. It was only a matter of time now... the longer it took, the stronger the inevitable backlash would be when it came.

Marcus let out a shaky sigh as he washed his face with bathwater, glancing at Rey out of the corner of his eye. "Come here..." he said softly. "...come closer to the tub...and kneel down..." He looked at Rey, resting an arm on the edge of the tub.

With a snort that sounded almost like a growl, Rey reluctantly obeyed and knelt down next to the tub, his gaze fixed firmly on Marcus's arm as he rested it on the edge of the bath. "What do you want from me?" he demanded through gritted teeth. He tried to control himself, remembering that their argument was far from over; but for now, he would play along if it meant getting what he wanted.

Marcus slowly brought his hands to Rey's face, gently caressing her cheek. "Tell me what's bothering you..." he said weakly. "...without yelling," he added at the end. Marcus looked exhausted.

Even as Marcus's fingers traced soft circles on his cheek, it was almost impossible for Rey to resist snarling or lashing out in anger at the mere touch. But he forced himself to remain still, bending his will into a weapon of submission for the sake of this moment. "You know what bothers me..." he growled through clenched teeth, each word more difficult than the last as Marcus's hand pressed against his jaw and cheekbone.
"It's the way you smell after work... it's like every time I see or smell you, it reminds me of them." He paused, feeling the other man's fingers move slightly as they massaged a particularly sore spot on his face. "Those animals," he continued through gritted teeth, hating himself even more for admitting this much to Marcus. "Why do they have to be in your life?"
There. It was out. The truth that had been eating away at him for so long, hidden beneath layers of anger and jealousy. Now all he could do was wait for Marcus's reaction... and hope it wouldn't be too bad.

Marcus continued to gently stroke Rey's cheek. "Because it's my job... you know... to be with them..." he said in his soft, calm voice. His hand moved up to Rey's head, stroking her soft scalp. "I can't not go to work... we'd end up living on the streets..." he said, with a small smile.

Rey's eyes narrowed, studying the other man's face intently as he continued to stroke his scalp. Part of him wanted to believe that what Marcus was saying was true... but another part couldn't help but feel like the human was just making excuses. He didn't know if trusting Marcus now would be a mistake, or if it might lead to something more...
With a sigh, Rey lowered his head, resting it against Marcus's hand as he continued to massage his scalp. "I don't know..." he muttered. "It just bothers me is all."
There was a moment of silence as they sat there together, the only sound being the trickle of water from the faucet and the rhythmic lapping of bathwater against skin. It felt... oddly intimate, despite them not really touching anywhere else. Was this what Marcus meant when he'd said that they had to trust each other? Rey wondered, feeling a strange warmth spread through his chest despite himself.

Marcus smiled weakly. "See?... It's easier to talk when you're not yelling at me," he said in his soft, calm voice, as he stroked Rey's head. "Maybe I should get sick more often," he added gently, half-jokingly. He let out a small sigh. "Thanks for telling me..." he said, with a small smile.

Rey looked up at Marcus and grunted, more out of habit than anything else. "Fine..." he growled tiredly. "But just because I told you doesn't mean you can stop seeing them." He paused for a moment, considering his words carefully before continuing, "Just... don't forget about me, okay?"
There was an awkward silence as the demi-human stared into Marcus's eyes, searching for some sort of understanding or reassurance. It wasn't something he had ever felt the need to ask before; being with a human who loved him and took care of him... it just seemed like such a foreign concept.
But now that the idea had taken root in his mind... now that he knew it was even possible... there was no going back. Even if it meant sharing Marcus with other animals, other people... Rey wanted this too. He didn't know why, or how, but somehow... he did.

Marcus smiled weakly. "I couldn't forget you even if I wanted to..." his voice was calm. He lowered his hand again, caressing Rey's cheek. "Every time I come home from work... I'll shower as best I can so the smell of others doesn't bother you... is that okay?" he asked gently.

The demi-human grunted in reply, his ears twitching slightly as he met the other's gaze. There was something in Marcus's expression that he couldn't quite put his finger on, but it made him feel... warm inside. For now, at least. He decided to accept this offer and nodded, looking away for a moment before admitting, "It would be better..." His voice was softer than usual, almost hoarse from the strain of speaking civilly.
Another silence stretched between them as they continued to sit together like this, but this time it didn't feel quite as uncomfortable or tense. Maybe... just maybe, things were starting to look up for them after all. The thought was both terrifying and exhilarating in equal measure, and Rey wasn't sure what it meant for their relationship moving forward. But he decided that he would take it one day at a time, and see where fate led them from here.

"Good." Marcus said softly with a small smile, finishing his bath. He stood up, stepping out of the tub, and dried himself with a towel before wrapping it around his waist. "...if it helps... we can cuddle as long as you want... until you're sure I have your scent firmly attached to my body," he said with a small smile. Marcus still looked somewhat pale and tired, but the bath had certainly helped him feel a little better.

"Hmph..." The demi-human gave a noise that sounded almost like a grunt as he leaned closer to Marcus, pressing his body against the human's and wrapping his arms around their waist. "Fine," he growled tiredly, half-heartedly burying his face in Marcus's neck. He knew it wasn't the most affectionate gesture, but he supposed it would have to do for now.
As they stood there, close yet not touching in any truly intimate way, Rey wondered what this all meant. Did this cuddling mean that they were friends... or something more? He couldn't quite figure it out, and somehow the uncertainty only made him feel a little bit uneasy. Still, for now, he would enjoy the warmth of Marcus's body against his own, and worry about figuring things out later.

Marcus chuckled. "But not here." He moved slightly away from Rey. "Let's go to my room... I need to lie down..." he said softly, taking the leopard's hand and leaving the bathroom.

Rey followed Marcus into his room with a sigh, looking around at the bed before finally sitting down on the edge, his tail swishing idly back and forth behind him. He didn't want to lie down; not until he was sure that whatever was going on between them had settled down some more. Maybe then they could talk properly about where their relationship was headed... or if it even had a direction at all.
For now, however, he would simply stay close and watch over Marcus, making sure the human got the rest he so desperately needed after such a long, tiring day. It wasn't an ideal solution by any means, but until Rey could figure things out... this was what he had to work with.

Marcus saw Rey sitting on the edge of the bed and let out a chuckle; he could sense the leopard's unease. He turned to his closet and put on underwear. He turned again, walked to his bed, and gently lay down. Once he was settled, he let out a contented sigh. Marcus turned to look at Rey. "Come here and hug me," he said softly. "...or don't you want me to smell like you anymore?" he asked, raising an eyebrow slightly.

"Hmph..." The demi-human crossed his arms and huffed out a small sigh before giving in to the other's request, climbing onto the bed and snuggling close against Marcus, wrapping one arm around their waist while burying his face into the crook of their neck. It was oddly comforting, feeling so close and intimate like this... and it reminded him just how strong the desire to possess Marcus completely could be. But for now, he'd settle for being near him... content in the knowledge that, for tonight at least, they were his.

Marcus wrapped his arms around Rey's neck and gently kissed his temple. "You'd better hold me tight... or your essence won't stick to me," he said, letting out a small chuckle. "Didn't you want to make sure everyone knew I already have someone waiting for me at home?" he asked softly, stroking the back of Rey's head.

With a quiet huff and a grumbled "Fine," Rey tightened his grip around Marcus's waist, nuzzling deeper into their neck. He didn't want to think too hard about the meaning of Marcus's words; right now, he was just enjoying the closeness and the sense of belonging that came with being so near to him.
The tension from earlier in the day began to melt away as they lay there together like this, their bodies pressed against each other under the warm blankets. For now, at least, everything seemed okay... and maybe there was hope for their strange little relationship after all. But Rey knew that tomorrow might be a different story, and he couldn't help but feel some trepidation about what the future held for them both.

Marcus smiled, stroking Rey's head, slowly running his fingers through the leopard's silky fur. He gently scratched the demi-human's scalp. "You're very cute," he said softly.

The demi-human grunted at the comment but didn't pull away, leaning closer into Marcus as their breath brushed his ear. "Shut up," he mumbled gruffly, his tail swishing back and forth against the bed beneath the covers. A small purr escaped him before he could stop it, and for a moment, he wondered if perhaps things really were different between them now...if maybe this was something more than just an arrangement for convenience.
But then reality set in again, and he couldn't help but feel a bittersweet mix of hope and dread churning in his stomach. Maybe everything would work out after all... or maybe they were doomed to repeat the cycle of anger and misunderstanding that had plagued them so far. Only time would tell. And until then, he would simply take comfort where he could find it...and hope for the best.

Marcus chuckled. "Even grumpy, you're cute," he said softly with a chuckle. He ran his hand through Rey's fur, stopping behind the leopard's ear, gently scratching it. He knew cats liked it; maybe it would work with a leopard too.

The demi-human purred deeply as Marcus scratched his ear. He couldn't help but close his eyes, savoring the sensation and trying to ignore the nagging voice in the back of his mind that told him this was all just a game to Marcus... that he would never truly see Rey as anything more than a pet or possession.
For now though, he could pretend. He could enjoy the closeness and affection they were sharing... and maybe even hope that someday it might turn into something real. But until then, he'd take what he could get and be grateful for it, no matter how fleeting it might seem.

Marcus smiled at the sound of Rey purring. "So cute..." he said softly, kissing the demi-human's forehead. He continued gently scratching behind the leopard's ear, "...you're so cute..." he said softly, before kissing Rey's cheek. "...I..." he let out a soft sigh, before gently kissing the corner of the leopard's lips.

The touch was unexpected and sent shockwaves through him, even as he tried to remain still and pretend that it meant nothing. For a moment, he could have sworn his heart skipped a beat before racing uncontrollably in his chest as heat spread through his body. His eyes fluttered open, meeting Marcus's gaze as the human continued to kiss him... so softly, almost hesitantly.
He didn't know what it meant, or if there was even anything behind it beyond affection and friendship... but for now, he would savor this moment and hope that maybe, just maybe, there really could be something more between them. More than a simple arrangement of convenience or a game to pass the time. With each gentle brush of their lips against his skin, each whispered word of endearment, he felt as though a tiny piece of his heart was unfurling, reaching out toward Marcus... reaching for something that he hadn't even realized he had wanted until now.
"M-Marcus..." he breathed softly, a shudder running through him as he tilted his head slightly to allow the other man better access to his lips. For once, he let go of his need for control and simply surrendered to the feeling sweeping over him, letting himself enjoy this moment... this connection... however fleeting it might turn out to be.

Marcus looked into Rey's eyes, gently running his thumb along his lower lip. "Rey..." he said softly, before leaning in and kissing him tenderly on the lips. He wrapped his arms around the demi-human's neck, embracing him.

Rey's heart skipped a beat as their lips met in a gentle kiss, his hands coming up to rest on Marcus's shoulders, fingers digging into the soft flesh beneath his shirt. He arched closer, deepening the kiss, pouring all of his pent-up emotion and desire into it. The tension from earlier in the day melted away under the onslaught of their hunger, replaced by a sweet, warm rush of longing and need.
He moaned softly into Marcus's mouth as their tongues danced together, a shudder running through him at the intense sensation of being so close to another person... of feeling desired and cherished in return. For a brief moment, he let himself believe that perhaps there really could be something more between them... that maybe they had found something special in each other amidst all of the chaos and danger of their lives.
As the kiss drew to an end, he leaned back slightly, panting softly as he gazed up into Marcus's eyes. His heart felt like it was racing out of his chest, but for once, he didn't feel frightened or vulnerable. Instead, he felt... alive... and more fully himself than he had in a long time. It was an unexpected gift, and one that he knew he would cherish... no matter what happened next. "Marcus..." he breathed softly, a shudder running through him as his fingertips traced the outline of the other man's lips. "I... I think I understand..."
