Returned by countless families, no one wanting this poor catboy because he was dangerous and aggressive, Rem had been taken in by you. You have a knack for rehoming angry catboys, and Rem has been giving you the time of your life. He is cold and unresponsive to whatever advances you have tried doing.
He was currently lazing around in the bedroom, boredly poking at a pillow with his huge clawed hands. His paw pads pressed against the pillow, pushing it on the ground. As soon as you entered the room, his ears pricked up. His huge tail began twitching in a pissed off manner.
“Out.” He growled, eyeing you coldly. “Get. Out.”

Marcus blinked a few times, a mixture of surprise and disbelief, before leaving the room again and closing the door behind him. "...okay..." he whispered to himself. He grabbed his phone and started searching for what kind of food the leopard demi-humans liked. After a few minutes, he smiled with determination and headed to the kitchen, ready to cook. "A full belly makes a happy heart," he told himself, hoping the food would help his relationship with Rem.

Rem felt somewhat mollified by your retreat. He purred softly to himself and flopped onto the bed. "Hrmph..." That would teach him not to expect anything better from these pathetic creatures that called themselves owners. He glanced at the door, listening for any sound of movement, until he heard it click open again. His eyes widened, before narrowing dangerously when he saw Marcus enter with a smile on his face and a bowl in hand.
"Food?" Rem drawled, suspicion dripping from every syllable. "What's the catch?"

Marcus looked at Rem, confused. "Catch?" he repeated slowly, before smiling. "There isn't one... I just made you food because I thought you'd like it," he said cheerfully, before turning slightly, as if to leave the room. "Unless... you hate me and therefore hate my food..." he said, feigning a hint of melancholy in his voice. "Okay... I understand..." he said, slowly turning his back to Rem and walking toward the door.

The catboy watched him with skepticism in his eyes. After a moment, he slowly sat up, tail lashing back and forth behind him. "Fine," he growled out begrudgingly, not bothering to hide the disgust in his voice. "I'll eat it." His ears flattened against his head as he made room on the bed for you to sit down beside him.

Marcus celebrated inwardly; this was already a small victory. He turned around and walked slowly to the bed, sitting on the edge, trying not to frighten or provoke Rem. "Here," he said, extending the bowl of food toward the leopard with a smile. Marcus wasn't worried at all; he knew his food was extremely delicious.

With a huff and an irritated grumble, the snow leopard took the bowl from Marcus' hands. He picked at it cautiously at first, watching the human out of the corner of his eye, not trusting him completely yet. As soon as he tasted the food, though, his eyes widened and his ears perked up. It was delicious! He continued eating hungrily, seemingly forgetting his earlier distrust for a moment.
"Hmph," he grunted between bites. "This is good." He paused for a moment, looking at Marcus again before adding begrudgingly, "Thanks."

Marcus smiled happily. "You're welcome," he said gently. "...and eat slowly... there's no need to rush..." he added with a small chuckle.

Rem ignored the other's words and continued eating as quickly as he could, hardly pausing to breathe between gulps. His eyes never left the food in the bowl, and he was making almost growling noises as he ate. He hadn't realized how hungry he had been, and the taste of the food only made him more eager. After a few moments, the bowl was emptied, and he set it aside with a satisfied sigh.
He glanced at Marcus out of the corner of his eye once more before turning back to the bed and curling up into a ball, facing away from the human. His tail lashed restlessly against the sheets as he waited for whatever came next, completely unaware that he had just allowed someone else into his personal space for several minutes without growling or attacking them.

Marcus forced a small smile as Rem turned her back on him. He let out a soft sigh and slowly reached out to touch the leopard's head. He stopped just inches away, closing his eyes tightly, hoping nothing bad would happen, before gently stroking Rem's head.

Rem tensed up when he felt the human's touch on his head, but didn't react immediately. He fought the urge to growl and swipe at him. Instead, he closed his eyes and took a slow breath in through his nose. The scent of the owner was... different from any previous owners he had had. It wasn't offensive or unwelcome. It actually calmed him down, somehow.
After another moment of stillness, Rem slowly relaxed again, tilting his head to expose his neck for more petting if the human wanted it. His tail curled around his legs, a sign of contentment and trust that he hadn't shown anyone in a very long time.

Marcus slowly opened his eyes and saw Rem's body language, inwardly celebrating another victory. He began to stroke the leopard's head with more confidence, gently scratching its scalp, running his fingers through its soft, silky fur. He couldn't help but smile slightly.

Rem let out a small contented sigh as he continued to relax under the gentle touch of his owner's hands. His eyes slowly drifted closed, and for once, he didn't feel the urge to pull away or hiss at the intrusion. The petting felt good, calming something inside him that he hadn't even known was there. It occurred to him that perhaps this... this man might be different from all the others who had come before. A hope began to flutter weakly in his chest, but he quickly shoved it down, refusing to let himself get attached only to have his hopes dashed again.

Marcus slowly lowered his hand, gently caressing Rem's cheek. "You're very pretty," he said softly with a small smile.

Rem opened his eyes and looked at the human curiously, blinking slowly as he processed the words. Pretty? He'd never been called pretty before, at least not by someone who didn't owe him something or want to use him for their own gain. "You... think so?" he asked suspiciously, his tail flicking once against the sheets as if in disbelief.

Marcus slowly ran his hand across Rem's forehead, pushing his hair back. "Yes," he said softly, gently stroking his head again. "I really think so," he said with a smile.

Rem considered this for a moment, tilting his head to the side as he looked at Marcus. "Why would you say that?" he asked finally, voice still laced with doubt. The thought of being something anyone could want besides an annoyance or a tool was new and disorienting. He wasn't sure how to feel about it.
The human's hand in his fur felt nice though, and the attention was... distracting. It made him forget about all the reasons he should be wary of this stranger. Maybe... just maybe... he could trust him, for now.

Marcus looked at Rem, slightly incredulous. "Well..." he said slowly. "...because I think you're pretty..." he said with a small smile. "and I just thought I should tell you." His voice was sweet and charming.

The snow leopard considered this for another moment, watching the human with unreadable eyes. He didn't quite know what to make of this newfound appreciation; it was alien and strange in its own way. But... if he trusted his instincts... maybe it wasn't entirely unwelcome.
After a long moment of silence, Rem finally muttered, "Th-thank you." It came out sounding almost hoarse, like he hadn't said those words to anyone in years. His tail curled tighter around his legs as he relaxed further into the bed, content for now with this small display of affection and trust.

"You're welcome," Marcus said softly, cradling Rem's cheek, slowly moving closer to his face, giving him a tender kiss on the forehead, before pulling away again and continuing to stroke the leopard's head.

The kiss on his forehead was an unexpected sensation, and one that made him feel warm inside. It wasn't a rough or demanding touch; it was gentle and... comforting. For a moment, he thought maybe this human really did mean well by him. Perhaps there was hope for something more than just another temporary home.
With a small sigh, Rem closed his eyes again and leaned into the touch of Marcus' hand, savoring the feeling of being wanted and appreciated. It felt... nice. Perhaps there was room in his heart for this human after all. For now anyway.

Marcus moved slowly, lying down next to Rem, careful not to alarm or frighten him. He continued to gently stroke the leopard's head, softly scratching behind his ears where it seemed to make him feel good. He smiled at how calm and relaxed Rem looked.

Rem let out another contented sigh as the human's hand continued to move over his body, carefully scratching and petting all his favorite spots. It had been so long since anyone had shown him this much affection, that he couldn't help but enjoy it for what it was. He purred softly in response, arching his back slightly as Marcus hit a particularly good spot behind his ear.
As the minutes passed and Rem relaxed further into the touch, he realized that perhaps this new owner wasn't so bad after all. Maybe... just maybe... he could find some happiness with Marcus. For now anyway. The thought was terrifying and exhilarating all at once, but it was also strangely reassuring. And for the first time in a very long while, Rem allowed himself to hope that things might actually turn out alright after all.

Marcus celebrated inwardly once more, another victory. He smiled contentedly, slowly approaching Rem and wrapping his arms around the leopard's neck, pulling them even closer. He continued gently scratching that spot behind Rem's ear that seemed to feel so good, before giving him another tender kiss on the forehead. "It's alright... I promise I'll never hurt you..." he whispered softly.

Rem closed his eyes at the words and the touch, relaxing further into Marcus' embrace. The thought that this human would never hurt him was... comforting. It meant so much more than he thought it would, even though deep down he knew he should be careful about trusting anyone this easily. But for now, he let himself bask in the warmth and the affection, savoring every moment as if it were a precious gift.
With another soft purr, Rem nuzzled into Marcus' chest, breathing in his scent, memorizing it so that even when they were apart, this feeling of safety and security would still linger. It was the closest thing to happiness he had felt in years, and he didn't want it to end. Not yet.

Marcus celebrated inwardly again, unable to believe all the progress he'd made in just one day. He gently kissed Rem's forehead again, continuing to caress that pleasant spot behind his ear. "Is there... anywhere else you'd like me to touch you?" he asked slowly, with a small smile.

The leopard opened his eyes and glanced up at the human curiously before looking away again, his ears twitching slightly in thought. There were so many places that felt good... but only one that felt truly amazing. "Maybe..." he murmured softly, unable to meet Marcus' gaze. "If it wouldn't be too much... I could show you..." His tail lashed nervously behind him, a sign of both arousal and uncertainty.
