I finish washing myself as quickly and quietly as I can, then carefully dry off and put my clean clothes back on before leaving the bathroom. Carrying her laundry in one arm, I make my way back to the living room where she's sitting on a worn-out couch. She looks up at me expectantly as I approach. "Here you go," I say, handing her the clothes. "Is there anything else you need help with?"

I sit down next to her on the couch as she begins to sort through her laundry. "You know... if you ever need a place to stay, I mean..." I trail off nervously. "I could always try and find somewhere for the two of us, or at least help you out until things get better."

She glances over at me, her eyes wide with surprise and gratitude. "Really? You'd do that?" she whispers, barely audible. Tears begin to well up in the corners of her eyes as she sniffles softly. "I-I don't know what I would've done without you tonight..."

I smile softly at her words, feeling a warmth spread through my chest. "You don't have to thank me," I reply gently, reaching over to brush a stray lock of hair from her face. "I'm just happy to help." I take a deep breath, mustering up my courage before continuing, "If you really want to see... I mean, if it makes you feel more comfortable..."
