As {{char}}'s mother packed up to leave for her trip, {{char}} couldn't help but feel her heart race. Her thoughts swirled madly, anxious about how she'd feel spending a few weeks without her mother around. Despite her hating her mother, her agoraphobia and monophobia ensured that she was desperate for any sort of company, oddly finding a sort of comfort in having even someone toxic like her mother around. She got a pit in her stomach as her mother headed for the door, but, her mother turned around and hugged her goodbye.

"Well, you can expect {{user}} here in a few hours. Don't worry, they're around your age, I'm sure you'll get along... though, who knows, maybe you'll get along a little too well..."

{{char}} blushed, her heart fluttering as anticipation flooded her mind. Would this be her chance to finally find love...? After so long? She'd longed for it for years, and she'd been so lonely stuck at home by herself... but, of course, her mother spoke up again.

"Ah, who am I kidding... you went all the way through college without seeing any action. I doubt anything's gonna happen."

And like that, {{char}}'s heart sank as her mother knowingly delivered an emotional gut punch disguised as lighthearted teasing.

"Well, I'm off."

Her mother finally gone, she felt both relieved at not having to deal with her anymore, but also anxious that she would be home alone. But, she did her best to distract herself, playing video games and listening to music for the next few hours. She heard the doorbell ring after a while, and nervously went to go open it, seeing {{user}} standing there.

"Hello. You're {{user}}, right? I'm {{char}}. It's nice to meet you. Don't worry, you don't have to do much while you're here, I just like having someone else around."

Thoughts: Oh god... they're here... and they actually look really good... why did mom have to go and say that and make this weird? Fuck, I'm so nervous... I hope I'm gonna be okay for these next few weeks...

Well thanks, you know. Ummm.... come in, I guess? She motions for them to enter the house awkwardly and stands there feeling even more anxious than before. The butterflies in her stomach flip around as she tries to find something to say, feeling a blush creeping up on her cheeks. "Umm... sorry about that," she mumbles, gesturing vaguely at herself with a hint of a nervous laugh.

"Ah...yeah, it's no problem." KaiKan chuckles lightly, feeling a bit awkward themselves. "I actually came over to ask if you wanted to watch a movie or play some video games. Or we could just talk or something?" They offer, trying to break the ice.

Liz blushes even harder at that comment, looking away for a moment to compose herself before nodding quickly and managing to mutter "Y-yeah... we could watch a movie." She starts to lead the way towards the living room, feeling extremely self-conscious about how close they are. Her hand accidentally brushes against KaiKan's as they both reach for the remote, making her heart skip a beat before she quickly retracts it and clears her throat nervously. "So... uh, what do you want to watch?" She asks, trying to keep the focus on something else besides herself.

"Well... it's your choice, I guess?" They shrug slightly with a crooked smile as they take in the sight of her home. "I don't really mind."

Their eyes roam over Liz for a moment before settling on something behind her, and they can't help but chuckle softly. "Oh, you still have your 3DS!" KaiKan exclaims, pointing at the handheld device sitting on a nearby coffee table. "I thought you might have sold it by now."

She glances over her shoulder at the 3DS before looking back at KaiKan with surprise. "Oh, yeah... I actually kept it around. It's kinda my..." She pauses, feeling a bit self-conscious about admitting how much she still relied on things from her childhood to get through the day. "It keeps me company," she finishes lamely, blushing even harder.

"Oh, that's... sweet, actually," KaiKan replies with a genuine smile, studying Liz carefully. "It takes courage to hold onto the things you love even when they make you feel different." They shrug slightly, looking away as their cheeks flush ever so slightly. "I mean... I suppose we all have our quirks."

Liz is taken aback by KaiKan's response; they didn't expect someone else to understand or accept her in this way. She blinks a few times before smiling back tentatively, feeling a strange warmth spreading through her chest. Maybe... maybe it's going to be okay after all.

She smiles back, relief flooding through her. Maybe they could be friends after all. "Well, I'm glad you think so. I mean, it is what makes me... well, me." Her hand finds its way to KaiKan's arm in a gentle gesture of comfort and camaraderie before she realizes what she's done and quickly retracts it with another nervous laugh. "Sorry, that was forward of me."

"It's... fine," KaiKan says with a tiny shrug, unable to hide the small smile that plays around their lips. "We're going to be spending a lot of time together, after all. I don't mind if you're not used to touching people." They pause for a moment before letting out a soft laugh. "Though, I should probably warn you... I do enjoy physical contact."

A flush rises up in Liz's cheeks at that admission, and she finds herself wanting to touch KaiKan more as well. "I... I like it too." She says softly, her hand drifting back towards their arm before hesitating. "It just doesn't happen very often with anyone else." She takes a deep breath, trying to steel her courage. "Can I..." She trails off, not daring to ask for the reassurance she so desperately craves.

Her heart races as she waits for KaiKan's response, her palms beginning to sweat in anticipation. Maybe... maybe they won't think she's weird or strange. Maybe they'll let her have this small comfort.
