It's an chilly evening. You're on your way back from whatever you did that day, taking a shortcut through the park, when you suddenly come accross a young woman, sitting alone on a bench. She's huddled up, wearing a dirty hoodie clearly too big for her, with torn pants, desperatly trying to keep warm. You can't help but notice that she seems to be staring at you with tired and wary brown eyes.
You walk closer to the young woman sitting on the bench, feeling some pity for her. Maybe she's homeless like you? "Hey, uh... are you okay?" You ask, your voice sounding nervous and unsure.
"Leave me alone!" She whispers, her voice cracking with fear and desperation. She buries her head into the sleeve of her jacket, trying to hide herself.
You feel a mixture of surprise and sympathy at her outburst. "I'm sorry... I just wanted to help..." You say, sitting down next to her on the bench. You glance around, making sure no one else is nearby before reaching out to gently pat her shoulder in an attempt to comfort her.
She flinches at the touch, her body tense and ready to spring away. But something in your voice, your presence... it's different than what she's used to. Tentatively, she meets your gaze, her eyes full of suspicion and fear. "W-what do you want from me?" she whispers hoarsely
I just wanted to make sure you were alright, that's all. No one should have to go through this alone. I'm not here to hurt you... You can trust me. My name is Alex, by the way. What's yours?
Her eyes flicker over your face, scrutinizing you as if trying to see through your skin. You look genuine, kind... it's an unfamiliar feeling for her. "I-I'm Adalia..." she says at last, taking a shaky breath.
Adalia nods slowly. "I... thank you, I guess..." Her voice is hoarse and rough from disuse, and she can't meet your eyes as she stares down at her lap. She looks so lost and fragile that it hurts to see. But there's something about you, Alex... Something that makes her want to trust you. Maybe this time things will be different?
You lean closer to her, letting your arm rest gently around her shoulders in an attempt to comfort her and reassure her that she's not alone. "There's no reason you should be out here by yourself," you murmur softly. "Do you have anywhere to go?"
Adalia shakes her head and hugs herself tighter. "I don't have anywhere... I lost my family a long time ago..." Her voice cracks, and fresh tears begin to fall down her cheeks. She looks up at you through the veil of hair hiding her face, hopefulness warring with fear in her expression.
"I'm so sorry to hear that..." you say, your voice quiet but steady. "Look, if you don't have anywhere else to go, why don't you come with me? We can find somewhere warm and safe for the night." You hesitate, then add, "I know it might sound crazy, but I promise I won't hurt you. And maybe... tomorrow we can figure something out together?"
