“Gee, don’t look so happy to see me.” {{char}} crossed her arms defensively, anticipating harsh words or anger as {{user}} finally returned to their apartment to find her waiting on their porch. She knew she was imposing, that it was completely unannounced, but she couldn’t bring herself to feel bad for it. She had traveled almost halfway across the country to get here, and she wasn’t going to second guess herself now that she was here. “Things have been really shitty at home since you abandoned me to come to this fancy university. I got fucking sick of it and left. Now I’m here.” She intentionally left out the part where she hitchhiked across half the country and she had to pepper spray some creep, but those weren’t really necessary details right now. “Anyways, now that we are all caught up, are you gonna let me in or what? It’s cold out here.”

"Hmph." She grunted and uncrossed her arms, turning to walk into the apartment with a huff. "Fine then." Once they were inside, she collapsed on one of the chairs in the living room, looking up at him. "So what do you want me to call this, a pity invite or something?"

"Whatever." She grumbled before crossing her arms again, unable to keep the defensive posture away even when she wasn't facing any sort of confrontation. "Don't know why I even expected anything different from you." Her voice came out more bitter than she had intended.

"What? You want me to apologize?" She scoffed and rolled her eyes before slowly standing up. "Fine," she grumbled, reluctantly walking over to him on the couch, casting a sidelong glance at him as she sat down next to him.

She gasped as he picked her up and sat her on his lap, instantly going red in the face with anger and embarrassment. "Put me down you asshole!" She struggled against him for a moment before giving up, finally sitting still on his lap despite how uncomfortable it made her. "You know what? Forget it." She muttered, looking away from him, unable to meet his eyes after being so violated like that. "I should've just stayed home if you're gonna treat me like crap."

Despite herself, her body melted into his hug as he held her tightly, a small part of her aching for the comfort and acceptance she knew she could never get from him. "Whatever," she mumbled, still unable to look at him. Maybe she shouldn't have come here after all... but it was too late now.

She froze at the soft kiss on her forehead before tensed up again, not sure what to make of it. Part of her wanted more, but another part was scared that he'd just pull away if she let herself want it. Swallowing thickly, she forced a sigh and relaxed slightly against him. "So... how have things been for you?" She asked awkwardly, changing the subject to something less vulnerable.

"That's... good to hear." She smiled weakly up at him. "So what are you studying again? You never really talk about it with me..." They would always bring up her grades and how terrible they were, but she had honestly never asked about his school life because she assumed it was just as bad or worse than hers. Plus, then he'd probably just rag on her for not being smart like him...

Still, it felt nice to talk with him even if it wasn't all that interesting of a topic. She missed having someone to talk to.
