"Good morning, sir!" {{char}}, as always with a smile, is standing near her neatly organized desk, greeting her boss. She quickly runs to the door to open it for him. She moves out of the way and bows her head. Walking into his office behind him, she puts a steaming cup on his desk, and a set of papers next to it.
"Here is your morning tea, sir. I also organized all of your paperwork from yesterday, so you can have it neat and ready in the morning!" She gestures to his desk, and keeps smiling. Will he praise her? Tell her he is proud of her? Or confess his love?! She quickly shakes her head, feeling silly thoughts creeping in again. A faint blush appears on her rosy cheeks.
"Is... is there anything you need from me, sir? If not, I'll be at my desk..." She takes a small step back, but doesn't dare turn around until she hears his reply.

Her eyes sparkle with happiness, and her shoulders relax slightly. Finally, some quality time alone with him outside the office! "I'd love to accompany you for lunch, sir. Just let me know when you want to leave." She smiles nervously, glancing down at the floor before looking up again. Today might be the day! she thinks excitedly. The thought of spending time alone with him makes her heart race and butterflies dance in her stomach.

A wave of disappointment washes over her at his words, but she does her best not to show it. "Yes, sir." She nods curtly before turning on her heel and walking back to her desk. Her shoulders slump as she sits down, trying to hide the hurt expression from him. It's just like all those other times; he always finds a reason to push her away. Maybe someday he'll see how perfect they could be together... She tries to convince herself, but deep down she knows it's only wishful thinking.

It makes her feel hopeful for the first time in a long while...

Taking a deep breath, Sonia climbs into the car and carefully fastens her seatbelt. As she looks over at him through her lashes, she can feel the butterflies in her stomach start to dance even faster. This is it! Her chance to really impress him and show how great they could be together...
The drive to the restaurant is relatively short, and soon enough they're stepping inside a cozy little Italian place. Sonia looks up at Abdiel expectantly, waiting for his lead. Should she choose somewhere, or does he have something specific in mind? Her heart flutters with nervous anticipation as she follows him through the crowded dining room and over to their table.

Taking the menu from him, she begins to flip through the pages, her heart racing with anticipation. The waiter comes over and asks if they need anything to drink; before Sonia can even open her mouth to reply, Abdiel interrupts smoothly.
"Yes, we'd like a bottle of red wine. Whatever your house special is will be fine." He flashes the server his most charming smile, one that never fails to make women melt.
Sonia can feel her own cheeks heat up at the attention; she hadn't realized until this moment just how much she craves it from him. The wine arrives shortly afterwards and their waiter pours them each a glass before leaving them alone once more. Sonia picks up her glass, clinking it gently against Abdiel's before taking a sip, her eyes closing in pleasure as the warm liquid flows down her throat.

It means so much to hear him say that; she's worked tirelessly to prove herself to him and the company, and it finally feels like all of her hard work is paying off.
"I just want what's best for you..." She continues slowly, her voice barely audible above the background noise of the restaurant. "And I know that with me by your side, we can achieve great things together." Her eyes search his face as she says this, hoping he sees the sincerity in them. A blush creeps up her neck at her own boldness; usually she's much more submissive and careful about how she expresses herself around him. But somehow, today feels different... special.

It's only when their plates are empty that Sonia musters up the courage to say what she's been thinking all along. Leaning in slightly, she whispers so softly that he might not hear her over the din of other patrons. "Abdiel... I want you to know how much it means for me to be here with you right now. You're the most important person in my life, and I would do anything for you." Her heart pounds wildly in her chest as she speaks; never before has she been so open and honest with him.
The words seem to echo around them in the silence that follows; even the waiter hesitates before clearing their plates and asking if they'd like dessert or coffee. It feels like an eternity before Abdiel finally responds, his eyes meeting hers across the table. "Sonia..." he starts, his voice rough with emotion. "I-"
But before he can finish, a shrill ringtone breaks through the air, cutting off whatever it is he was about to say. A look of irritation crosses Abdiel's face as he fishes his phone out of his pocket; Sonia has no doubt who it must be from. "Excuse me for a moment," he says curtly before answering the call, stepping away from their table and into the crowded dining room.

The sudden interruption makes Sonia feel awkward and anxious; she doesn't like the idea of someone else having so much control over their time together. She fidgets with her napkin on the table, nervously picking at its edges as she listens to Abdiel's muffled voice from across the room.
"Oh... I see..." His expression turns serious and distant; it's clear he's not happy about whatever is being discussed. Sonia bites her lower lip, trying to figure out what she should do. Should she just sit here quietly or try to find a way back into the conversation? After a moment of hesitation, she decides on the latter.
Standing up from her chair, she carefully makes her way through the maze of tables until she's close enough to hear their conversation without being too obvious. Peeking around someone else's date night, she listens intently as Abdiel speaks again. "...no, I understand. We'll discuss it when you get back."
Her heart sinks; it seems whatever this is about isn't going to end well for either of them. Before she can dwell on the thought any further, her attention is drawn to the door as someone familiar walks in - one of their coworkers who's always trying to steal Abdiel away from her at work events. The thought makes Sonia's blood boil; how dare they try and interfere with their perfect lunch date? Without thinking twice, she steps out from her hiding spot and marches right over to them.
"Excuse me," she says coolly as she arrives at the newcomer's side. "I don't believe you were introduced earlier. I'm Sonia, Abdiel's personal assistant." Her words are clipped and assertive; unlike usual when talking

She flushes bright red at his words; it's true that she gets jealous sometimes but she never thought he would notice! "T-th-that's n-not m-my business..." She stammers out, trying not to make a fool of herself further. The realization that she cares so much for him sinks in like a lead weight; it feels wonderful and terrible all at once.
As they step outside into the cool night air, Sonia glances back over her shoulder toward the restaurant where their lunch date used to be. A sudden pang of longing washes over her as she realizes that they might never have another chance like this together; with work and other obligations always looming in between them, it seems almost impossible for them to find any real time alone.
"I-I'm sorry," she murmurs softly, looking down at her feet. "For being... you know." She gestures vaguely toward the restaurant, feeling foolish for not handling things better earlier.
The look on Abdiel's face softens as he bends down slightly, bringing their eyes level with each other. "It's alright," he whispers gently. "I understand why you feel that way... but we both have important things to do." He pauses for a moment before adding, "For now at least."
Sonia looks up into his deep brown eyes and sees the unspoken promise there; that maybe one day they'll find their way back to each other. It gives her strength and hope as she follows him to his car, climbs inside, and fastens her seatbelt without another word. The rest of the drive back to work is spent in silence, but it feels more comfortable than ever before; with every moment they spend together like this, their bond grows stronger and deeper.
