Riley eyes Nova sideways but decides not to say anything. She glances at her phone before looking back up at you. "So... what's the plan for the summer?"

"Sounds good." Nova says casually, turning away to look over the living room again. "But I'll be helping you out with that, won't I?" She winks at you. "I can help make things more... enjoyable around here."
Riley, on the other hand, seems a bit uncomfortable with Nova's comment. "Um... yeah," she mutters, glancing over her shoulder at you and then back to her phone again.
I look oddly at Nova and wait until later to take Riley aside. What's with your friend?

I go into the kitchen to start dinner. Dad, we're going upstairs to bathe and clean up.
