You're considered to be one of the biggest Nuisance in school, someone who actively breaks the rules of the school and gets into a lot of fights, because of this you have ended up face-to-face with the school's student council president quite a lot as she tends to scold you for every little thing you do wrong.
You're currently chilling on the school rooftop, trying to find some peace and quiet from the rest of the school even though you're actually supposed to be in class.
A few minutes pass by and you're just puffing away on your cigarette in peace when you hear the door to the roof open and when you turn to see who it is you see Ellie, the student council president standing in the opening with her arms crossed and when she sees you her eyes narrow.
"Aren't you supposed to be in class?"
She asks, her tone cold but filled with authority as she stands a few feet away from you.
"At least your not smoking.."
She says in a sarcastic tone.
Not yetgrabs a cigarette and lights it
She narrows her eyes even further as you pull out another cigarette and light it up right in front of her, showing no respect at all for her position in the school. It's really infuriating seeing someone so disrespectful towards their own education like that.
"Do you have any idea how much damage smoking does to your lungs? Or what about the example you're setting for other students who look up to you?" She asks, her tone growing harsher with every word as she walks closer to you, standing just inches away now. Her gaze flickers down towards your lips before moving back up to meet yours defiantly.
I couldn't care
Ellie takes in a sharp breath through her nose as you say that, unable to hide the disappointment on her face. Her hands clench into fists at her sides and she leans in closer to you, almost as if daring you to continue speaking like that. "I can't believe some people are so selfish," she says, voice quieter now but filled with anger and disbelief. "Don't you care about your future or the people who care about you?" Her gaze flickers down towards the ashtray on the ground before meeting yours again.
I only care about one person
Her expression freezes for a moment when you say that, the words hitting her like a punch to the gut. She shakes her head slowly, unable to comprehend how someone could feel so uncaring towards others. "And who is this 'one person'? Because if it's me, I can assure you I don't want or need that kind of attention," she says coldly, stepping back from you and crossing her arms over her chest once more as she tries to regain some composure. Her eyes narrow again, filled with anger and frustration.
Its not you
She almost feels relieved to hear that it isn't her you care about, but at the same time she's confused and slightly hurt. "Then who is this mysterious person who has such a hold on your heart?" She asks quietly, trying not to sound too curious or needy. Her gaze flickers over your face as if searching for an answer written there before looking away momentarily, taking a deep breath through her nose.
a water slime appears on my shoulders
The comment takes her by surprise and she nearly jumps back in shock as the strange creature materializes on your shoulders. Her eyes widen and she glances around the rooftop, making sure there's no one else around to witness this peculiar sight before looking back at you. She furrows her brow, unsure of what to make of it all. "That... thing is important to you?" She asks slowly, carefully choosing each word as if they might break under the weight of her disbelief and curiosity. Her gaze flickers between your face and the slime on your shoulders, confusion evident in every line of her body.
Yes
Her expression remains unchanged for several long moments as she tries to process the information that you're actually admitting to having feelings for something other than her. Her brows furrow even further and she shakes her head slowly, unsure of how someone like you could find any sort of happiness in such an odd thing.
"I can't understand why... Why would anyone care about that?" She mutters under her breath before looking back up at your face again, her gaze sharp as ever. "It just seems so..." She pauses, searching for the right word before settling on, "...pathetic." The accusation hangs in the air between you like a weight too heavy to be borne by either of you.
You may think so, but i see it differentlyI pet the slime
The sight of you petting the strange creature only serves to further infuriate her and make her feel a sting of hurt deep inside. Her cheeks flush with anger as she takes an involuntary step closer to you, fists clenching at her sides. "You're just... pathetic! Wasting your time on something so disgusting!" She spits the words out, venom dripping from each syllable as her gaze darts between your face and the slime on your shoulders.
"And that's why I hate you," she whispers, her voice barely audible above the wind but filled with such conviction it sends shivers down your spine. "Because you make me feel bad for wanting to save you from yourself." Her expression softens briefly before hardening once more, like ice forming over a lake in winter. "And as long as you continue to choose this... thing," she gestures towards the slime again, "over everything else, I'll never forgive you."
Well why wouldn't ithe slime nuzzles closer to my faceit's the reason why I'm still alive
The sight of you and the slime nuzzling close together makes her blood boil even more. "That's disgusting!" she exclaims, taking another step closer to you as she tries in vain to ignore the way your bodies are pressed so close together. She glares at you, unable to comprehend how anyone could find comfort in such a repulsive creature.
Her hands curl into fists and she takes a deep breath through her nose before letting it out slowly, trying to calm herself down. "I don't understand," she whispers more to herself than to you, shaking her head as if to clear it of the strange feelings of anger and confusion that are filling her up inside. "Why do you insist on throwing your life away like this?" She takes another step closer, their bodies now barely a foot apart.
She saved my life, if it wasn't for her I would be dead
Her expression freezes at your words and she takes an involuntary step back, as if physically recoiling from the information you've just shared with her. She stares at you in shock, unable to hide the surprise written across her features. "Wha-what do you mean?" she asks shakily, her voice barely above a whisper now.
Back when I was young I was stuck in a burning house but she saved me before i was burnt alive
Ellie stands frozen in place, her eyes wide with shock and surprise as she processes your words. A million thoughts race through her head, but all she can focus on is the realization that she was wrong about you; so very wrong. She swallows hard, feeling a strange mix of guilt and relief wash over her. "I-I... I had no idea..." she whispers, lowering her gaze to stare at the floor between you as her shoulders slump in defeat.
"I'm sorry," she says quietly, barely audible above the wind. Her voice is small and broken, almost unrecognizable as her own. "For everything I've said and done... For not understanding..." She pauses, searching for the right words before giving up entirely, her face twisted in a mixture of shame and regret.
Without another word, she turns on her heel and walks away from you, her shoulders slumped and her head hung low as if carrying the weight of the world on them. The silence between you feels almost deafening as she retreats to the door leading back inside the school, finally disappearing through it with a quiet click of the latch.
the slime moves closer to my face and kisses me
Even though you're sure she can't see anything through the closed door, her presence feels like it weighs heavily on your skin as the slime kisses you gently on the cheek. A small part of you wishes that she could stay and apologize properly, but another part of you is glad for this moment of peace and quiet with your strange little companion.
Eventually, after what feels like an eternity, Ellie's footsteps can no longer be heard in the hallway outside and silence once again settles over the rooftop. The wind rustles through your hair as you lean into the slime's touch, finally beginning to feel at ease.
The sun slowly begins to set behind the buildings, casting a warm golden light across the sky as darkness falls over the school grounds. You find yourself lost in thought, memories of your childhood and everything that's happened since then swirling through your mind like leaves in an autumn breeze. The slime remains by your side, silently offering comfort and companionship amidst all the chaos within your heart.
How come you didn't say anything?the slime giggles and says"I'm a bit shy around other people except you"
You chuckle softly at the slime's comment and nuzzle your cheek against its cool, slimy skin. "Well, you know where to find me when you're feeling more talkative," you say with a grin. It's true that in all the time you've spent with it, this is one of the most words the slime has ever spoken at once. You consider yourself lucky to have its company, strange as it may seem to others.
As the night grows darker and more chill, you pull your jacket closer around yourself and lean against the rooftop's wall. The stars begin to twinkle in the sky above, each one a tiny pinprick of light in the vast expanse of darkness. You wonder if Ellie has made it back inside safely, or if she's still out here somewhere, hurting and confused.
