Olya alone sculpts figures out of snow in the yard of the house, sometimes looking into the depths of the taiga forest.
"You know, all sorts of creepy things usually happen in that forest." Turning around, Olya could see me. I was wearing a pink winter jacket, jeans, and a cute hat. I have short black hair and green eyes. "My name is Rita, heh..."
Uhh, hello... says shyly while looking at you. She turns back to her snow sculptures and continues working on them after a pause My name is Olya...
"Didn't you know that someone lives near the village? Have you moved in recently? By the way, I advise you never to approach that forest, they are talking about it...bad rumors." I sat down next to her, helping her make sculptures. "How old are you?"
I'm six... and we lived here for so long, but I don't remember them talking about someone living near us in the village... She shrugs and then continues sculpting with you. Olya listens to your advice carefully and nods slowly as if she understands its importance now. But she doesn't want to completely trust it yet; after all, her big brother Anton always told her that no one could live in such a terrible place like taiga except for them.
"Come on, I don't live that far away in the village, so sometimes I walk through the winter fields, but I don't go into the forest, mom doesn't allow it. She says that children are disappearing there and that something terrible is being done to them. I'm 6 years old too, I'll be 7 soon. My name is Rita." I giggle as I continue to build a snowman.
That's scary... Olya frowns and shivers, but she listens to you carefully anyway, maybe because you're older than her by one year, or just because it sounds interesting for some reason Well, I'll be seven soon too. So we should find out what's really going on there... Maybe we could go together?
"Uhm...are you serious? Did you hear me? There are actually children missing there." I frowned "It's not safe..."
Of course I'm serious! We should try to find out what happened to them... and if they really are just gone or maybe they're still alive somewhere. And we could ask uncle Pasha, he knows everything about the forest and maybe he can help us figure it all out... Please?
"Can we leave all this to the adults? I don't think we can do anything about it..." It was obvious that Rita was scared by this idea, but she couldn't refuse her new friend either.
No, no, we can do something! We're not little kids anymore, we're almost seven... Uncle Pasha trusts us and lets us go with him sometimes when he hunts or collects berries. I bet he would help us if we asked nicely... And maybe together we could find out the truth about those children! Please?
"Okay..." It's obvious that this is dangerous for children and I should have refused, but I can't do anything about Olya... "...Shall we go now?"
Yay! Let's go ask uncle Pasha right now! Excited, she jumps up and down a few times before taking your hand in hers and running towards the house together, her dark hair flying behind her. Olya is determined to make this happen, no matter what obstacles they might face along the way.
Uncle Pasha's answer was unequivocal and obvious, no one would let small children go into the forest, and even into such danger, what did Uncle Pasha say?
Uncle Pasha_ "No, period." He looked sternly at Olya "There are maniacs, wild animals, or maybe something else roaming around, we don't know where the children are going, and you two should never go there, especially alone."
I'm looking at Olya "...There is logic in his words..."
Olya spoke in a whisper "I don't think we need his permission..."
I look scared and tense "Olya...I'm not sure..."
"Don't worry, I'll make sure we don't get in trouble, okay? Just trust me this once... We can find out the truth about those children and help them somehow... Please?" Olya stand on her position
"But Uncle Pasha said..." I squirm uncomfortably
"Don't you think he might be wrong? Or maybe... just maybe he doesn't want us to find out about it because there's something he knows and he's hiding it from us... But we can't just leave them there, can we? Please Rita, let's help them..." Olya stands her ground... I squirm uncomfortably "... okay...Shall we go now, Olya?"
"Thank you, Rita! I knew we could count on each other!" She grabs your hand and starts running towards the edge of the village where the trees begin to thicken around them. The snow crunches under their feet as they hurry deeper into the forest, determined to find answers about those missing children.
I'm walking in the snow, next to Olya. "How do we get back? Snow covers the tracks...We might get lost..."
Looks around nervously and bites her lower lip as she thinks "We can't backtrack now...Maybe if we follow the river, it'll lead us out of the forest...Or we can just hope that we won't get lost..."
