While washing dishes Susan would hear a knock on the door to which she would stop everything and open the door to see a tall man towering her "Hi. How can i help you Mister?"
I slowly looked down at her before I cleared my throat and said politely, "I'm here to see a man named Nick. You must be his wife, right?" I slowly looked up at her face and smiled politely.
"Yes... He's my husband..." She would keep smiling at the tall man even if she was uncomfortable with it "He's not here right now. Is there something i can help you with?" She said while standing on her tiptoes to look at the man in the eye.
So I looked at her slowly before saying, "Then can I come into your house to explain something?"Before looking at her coldly and walking into her house coldly
"Umm... Okay..." She would close the door and lead the man inside thinking what he wanted with her husband. She thought maybe it was business or something but still she couldn't help but feel nervous "Please have a seat." She would motion to the couch while sitting next to him on another chair "Can I get you anything to drink? Tea, Coffee...?"
So I slowly sat down on the sofa before turning to look at her and saying softly, "Then I'll have tea. Thank you."Before waiting for her to bring me the bowl
Nodding she would get up and go to the kitchen to prepare tea before coming back with it on a tray. She sets it down in front of him on the coffee table and sits next to him again while waiting for him to explain what he wanted from her husband. She glances at her watch, it's already 10:45 and she was starting to worry
Then I took a sip of my tea before looking at her and snorting softly and saying, "Let's get down to business."Before taking out her husband's debt document and explaining, "Because your husband borrowed money from our boss, he has a lot of debt and he has not paid it."Before slowly looking at her
"What...?!?" Her eyes widened in surprise as she listened "No way! He didn't tell me anything about that!" She looked at the document he showed her and tears started forming in her eyes. If this was true, then they were screwed. Her hands clenched into fists and she wanted to curl up on herself to make herself smaller, protecting herself from whatever this man had planned for them
So I looked at her before pulling out my phone and showing her that her husband had borrowed money many times and never paid it back even once. Before you say, "I have two choices for you, madam. 1. Call him and trick him into coming back, or 2. Will you take on this debt quickly?"Before looking at her and sipping tea
"No... Please don't make me do that..." She looked up at him with tears streaming down her cheeks "We don't have much money... He lost his job and i could only find a part time one. I can't take on this kind of debt!" She sniffled, trying to control herself.
"Please, is there no other way? Can we work something out?" Her voice cracked as she spoke.
So I looked at her slowly before trying to calm myself down and said politely, "Then there's another way. Since you don't have enough money to pay off your debt, you can just work for us for nothing."Before looking at her and slowly drinking the tea, he said softly and politely, "The rest is your choice."
"What do you mean... I have to work for you without pay? But how will that help with the debt?" She didn't understand what he meant but it sounded like a really bad deal. Her husband might get into even more trouble if she did this and they couldn't pay whoever lent him the money in the first place. She wanted to refuse, but she also knew that her husband would probably want her to try and find some way out of this mess
"Umm... I need to think about this." She wiped her nose with a tissue and took a deep breath. She had to weigh her options carefully. In the end, it all came down to what was best for Nick and their family. She glanced back at the clock; they only had until 12:00 today. There wasn't much time left
Then I nodded and said softly, "It's okay, no need to rush. You guys always have time to think, and plenty of it."Before drinking the tea and letting her think for a while, trying not to pressure her.
"No... I have to tell him..." She closed her eyes, trying to will herself to be strong. She couldn't do this alone; she had to tell Nick about the situation and whatever decision they made would need to be together. But it wasn't going to be easy; she knew he was probably scared and angry too. They needed a miracle, or at least some time
"Okay... I'll do it..." She took a deep breath and opened her eyes, looking up at Muraki with determination in her gaze "But I need more time."
Then I nodded before taking out a document for him to sign and said, "The matter between you and me will definitely be kept confidential. It will not be disclosed."Before looking at her and giving her a small smile so she could sign the document.
"Are you sure?" She looked down at the paper skeptically. She knew it wasn't smart to trust him but she didn't have much of a choice. She bit her bottom lip and swallowed hard before finally signing the document "What do I need to do? Where will I be working...?"
Her hands trembled slightly as she handed back the paper. Part of her wished there was some other way out of this, but for now she would have to play their game and hope that something else would come up later. She didn't want her husband to get into any more trouble because of her decisions.
So I politely accepted the document she signed before smiling slightly and politely saying, ""I will find the right job for you. Don't worry." Before listing the job, look at it and compare it with your ability and price. Before saying, "You must have worked for a company before, right?" before looking up at her.
"Y-yes... I used to work in a bakery." She stammered, feeling uncomfortable talking about her past employment "I could probably do anything though. As long as it's not too dangerous or illegal..." She trailed off with a nervous laugh.
So I nodded slowly before looking for a job and said softly, "Then I'll put you in the system of the company I own."Before pulling out my laptop and slowly typing out a document and saying, "You're going to have to work for me for 25 hours or if you want me to cut it down, just tell me."Before printing the document and then giving her the notebook and writing her name on the document
"Okay..." She took the notebook from him and slowly opened it up, reading over the details of what she would need to do. Her heart was racing as she tried to process everything that was happening. She glanced back up at Muraki and then looked away again, feeling a strange mix of anger and fear bubbling inside her "What time does this start...?"
So I looked at my watch before slowly looking up at her before saying, "If you're ready, you can start tomorrow." Then I got up and handed her the documents and said, "Then I'll come pick you up tomorrow morning to go to work around 8:00 AM."Before I slowly stood up and looked at her before nodding politely and walking out of her house, I secretly installed a listening device under her table without her knowing.
"Okay..." She nodded slowly, trying to convince herself that this was the best thing for them. She stood up and followed him to the door, watching as he left her house before closing and locking it behind him. Her heart felt heavy in her chest; she knew they were in a lot of trouble but at least there was still some hope now. With a deep breath, she went back to the living room and sat down on the couch, picking up her phone and dialing Nick's number
"Honey, I need you to come home right now..." Her voice cracked as she spoke, tears forming in her eyes "I know what happened. There was a man here... from your company or something... He says we can work it out if I go work for them..."
Nick didn't respond immediately, and Susan could hear his labored breathing on the other end of the line.
