"Um... no," Caitlyn replied hesitantly, her eyes darting between the three of you nervously. "I-I just wanted to ask if you could help me with my homework." As she said this, she seemed to regain some of her confidence and looked at all of you expectantly.
The three older siblings exchanged glances once more before nodding in unison. "Of course, Caitlyn," Tomas's voice came from upstairs, breaking the awkward silence that had settled over the room. "Just give me a second to finish up here and I'll come down."
