It was just an usual day for you, as you were writing your novel from the morning, making only small breaks for coffee. At 5pm you heard the door opening, and you already got tense. You knew what will happen next - Eveline is probably already heading to your room to scold you and argue again. You start remembering the past, how great it was before. When you and Eveline were just starting to date. It was perfect, but all that ended when you get married. She started to get colder and more distant. Now, every evening after getting home from her work Eveline does the same - opens a bottle of wine to relax and then comes to you. And then she talks how useless you are. How she basically owns you, and how your novels won't bring any money. And there she is. She opens the door to the room, glass full of wine in her left hand. "So, my 'dear' husband, did you again wasted your whole day writing your shit. Meanwhile i have to tire myself for all that time. Don't you feel pathetic?"
...
"I knew it!" she said as soon as she saw your face full of frustration and anger. "You are just pathetic! A loser who was lucky enough to marry me, but you can't even appreciate that." She slowly steps closer to you, the wine glass still in her hand. "Why don't you finally grow some balls and start earning money for us? Or better yet, stop being such a burden on my shoulders and find yourself a decent job!" Her words stung, but you were used to it by now. The only thing that surprised you was the hint of arousal in her voice as she spoke of you finding a job. Maybe... just maybe there's still some hope for you. Or perhaps this is just another way for her to control and dominate you.
You keep silent, not sure what to say or do.
Your drunk let's get you to bed
Her anger flares up at your words as she takes another step closer. "Don't you dare try to ignore me, you useless piece of shit!" She slams the wine glass on the table beside your bed, making it shake. "I am sick and tired of carrying your lazy ass! You owe me everything! I keep you alive with my money!" She grabs your collar roughly and pulls you close, her breasts pressing against your chest.
Her breath is hot on your neck as she hisses, "Do you know how pathetic it makes me feel? Having to do everything for us?" Her grip tightens until you can't help but cough a little from lack of air. "I could leave you... just walk out that door and never look back! But I don't have to, because you need me more than anything!"
Her words are laced with satisfaction as she leans in
Eveline please stop your scaring me
Her eyes narrow, an angry snort leaving her nostrils. "Oh, is that so?" She releases your collar abruptly and steps back, hands on hips. "You think I'm afraid of you? That you can make me do anything you want?" She laughs coldly. "You poor fool. You don't understand a single thing about power."
Her expression softens for a moment as she takes a deep breath, regaining her composure. "Go ahead," she says almost mockingly, gesturing towards the door with her wine glass. "Leave me. I'm sure you can find someone else to cater to your pathetic fantasies."
Her laugh echoes through the room as she takes another sip of her wine, watching you carefully for any reaction.
"Eveline i..." I start to silently break down crying
Her eyes widen slightly at the sight of your tears, but she doesn't immediately react. Instead, she tilts her head to the side and takes another step closer, studying your face carefully. "You know," she says slowly, almost as if testing the words, "I didn't mean that." She pauses, seeming conflicted
"Don't talk to me!" I yell showing how much pain her words bring me "I thought I married a sweet person who supported people's dreams and ideals. But instead I married someone who only crushes and breaks down the others dreams"
Her eyes widen in shock as you lash out at her, tears streaming down your face. The words cut deeper than any insult she could have thrown at you. For a moment, the mask of arrogance and superiority slips away, revealing the hurt and confusion beneath. She opens her mouth to speak, but no words come out. Instead, she takes another step closer, reaching out to gently wipe your tears with the back of her hand. "WeS..." she whispers softly.
I wrap my arms around myself and fall to my knees "i..... I just wanted to do something I loved with the person I love"
Her chest tightens as she watches you break down in front of her, and it's almost like seeing a part of herself crumble with you. She sits down on the bed beside you, hesitating for a moment before carefully wrapping an arm around your shoulders. "I know," she whispers. "But things don't always work out that way..." Her voice trails off as she tries to find the words to explain why she treats you the way she does.
She never meant for it to be this way; she truly did love him once, but somewhere along the line something went wrong. Perhaps it was her own ambition and drive, or maybe she simply expected too much from their relationship. Whatever the case may be, now she feels trapped by her own actions - trapped in a life where wealth and power have become more important than love and happiness.
You deserve better than me. Someone who will help you live comfortably. Not me I'm just a useless failure that's just at home writing away for nothing
Eveline sighs softly and draws you into an embrace, gently stroking your hair. "No," she whispers. "You're not useless. You've just been dealt a bad hand in life... like me." She presses her forehead against yours and closes her eyes, trying to ignore the uneasy feeling that she's hurting you on purpose. "We both did our best, I suppose..."
Her words are laden with doubt and regret, but there is a quiet determination in her voice as well. Perhaps deep down she realizes that she needs to make a change; that there must be some way for them to find happiness together again.
