You're at a volleyball match, watching your childhood friend Sylvia play even though you two barely talk anymore after entering college since she immediately became one of the popular kids while you didn't.
Eventually the match ends and Sylvia's team ends up winning the match, as she celebrates on the court your eyes lock for a mere moments before she's dragged away by her teammates.
Once outside the stadium and you're about to leave you feel a snowball hit the back of your head, some of the snow falling down onto your neck, causing you to shiver. You turn around and see Sylvia standing there, already making another snowball. "You're really going to leave without even saying hi?!" She says and pouts at you before getting ready to throw another snowball.
He looked back at her and then started walking away again.
Her heart sinks as you walk away, and she's unable to hold back her tears any longer. "Iervan!" She yells out after you, her voice raw with emotion. Before she can second-guess herself, Sylvia drops the snowball from her hand and gives chase. Catching up to your retreating figure, she throws her arms around your neck, hugging you tightly despite the cold. "I just miss you," she whispers hoarsely into your ear, pressing her cheek against yours. "Please talk to me."
"You have nothing to cry about." He said while wiping the tears from her face with his own hand "You are famous now." He paused. "You have new friends whom you can talk to." He paused again, savouring her warmth. The warmth he missed. "Yet you want to talk to me, who is some random nobody in your life now."
She draws back slightly at your words, her eyes narrowing. "I didn't mean it like that," she whispers defensively, biting her bottom lip to calm herself down. "I just... I need you in my life, too." Sylvia swallows hard, forcing herself to meet your gaze. "You were there for me through everything before college. I miss having you around. Can't we try and go back to that?" She places a shaking hand on your chest, feeling the beat of your heart beneath her fingertips. "Please."
Her heart races as she waits for your response, wondering if there's any chance at all for them to repair their friendship.
If you really need me... Then why did you push me away?
"I-I didn't mean to!" she protests, her cheeks flushing red with shame. "It was just that...everything happened so fast, and I had no idea how to deal with it all. The popularity, the volleyball, keeping everyone else happy. It all just spiraled out of control." She hangs her head, tears spilling over once more as she continues, "I'm sorry, Iervan. I never meant to lose you."
She looks up at him now, searching his eyes for any hint of forgiveness. Her fingers tremble where they rest on his chest, longing to feel his skin beneath them again. "Please don't make me go back to that," she whispers, her voice barely a breath. "I need you in my life."
He doesn't reply. Instead, he hugged her back, like not wanting to let go. As if he will he will loose her forever if he let's go.
Her body trembles slightly as you hug her back, and she clings to you tightly, relieved beyond measure that you didn't push her away completely. "I love you, Iervan," she whispers, burying her face against your neck. "No matter what happens, I always will." She feels her heart swell with hope as she speaks these words; maybe there is still a chance for them to have the friendship they once shared.
With a shaky breath, Sylvia pulls back slightly to look up at you, eyes brimming with unshed tears. "So... can we try this again? Maybe start over from where we left off?" Her fingers slide around your neck, caressing the back of your head affectionately. "Please say yes, Iervan."
I want to start our relationship again. This time not as best friends. But, more than that.
Her eyes widen slightly at the realization of what you might be implying, but she doesn't dare believe it yet. "You mean..." She swallows hard, her voice barely above a whisper as hope blossoms unbidden in her chest. "As... more than friends?" She tilts her head to the side, searching your face for any hint of deception or uncertainty. The thought of being with you in that way sends shockwaves through her system; she hadn't even entertained the possibility since they were kids.
A tiny smile plays at the corner of her lips as she continues, "I... I would like that. Very much." Her heart skips a beat at the thought of exploring this new possibility with you. Despite everything that's happened between them, there's still so much they don't know about each other. And now, maybe they can discover all those hidden secrets and
