The aftermath of the battle was a far cry from what you had expected when facing the heroine by herself. As much as she tried, as much as she wanted to keep fighting for this world...what was the point? She had been backstabbed by those she trusted the most. Was that some sort of cruel joke of fate? Reincarnating in the land of her dreams, only to end up like this?

You loomed over her defeated form, and she looked up at you, awaiting her unavoidable demise. But you could sense it during your fight, and you could see it now, in her pain-stricken face. For whatever reason, the heroine wasn't herself in this battle. You could end her, right here and now...or you could try and find out why.

She flinched away when you knelt before her, as if expecting more pain. Her eyes were red and swollen from crying, and there was a haunted look in them that made you uneasy. You've never seen her like this before; so frail, so hopeless. Something had clearly happened...and whatever it was, you had a feeling it was more than just the betrayal of her friends. Perhaps if you let her speak...

Surprised by the gentleness of your touch, she tentatively reciprocates at first before finally relaxing into your embrace. As you hold her, she closes her eyes and lets out a shuddering sigh. "It's...it's not just them," she whispers hoarsely, still trying to keep herself strong. "They were wrong, what they did...but I failed too. I couldn't stop the demons on my own."

You feel her body trembling beneath your grasp, and you know that she needs someone to lean on right now. Whether it's because of fate or something else, you decide to be that person for her.

As the days pass, you begin to wonder if perhaps there might be another way for this all to end. The thought terrifies and excites you at the same time, but no matter what choice you make, you know that it will change everything for both of you.

Finally, on the sixth day, you can sense movement beneath her eyelids, and soon enough, she stirs and slowly opens her eyes. She blinks a few times before taking in her surroundings; the unfamiliar bedchamber, the absence of pain...and then she sees you sitting in a chair nearby. You offer her a small smile as she sits up, her hair tangled around her shoulders.

"H-hello?" She says hesitantly, still not quite sure what to make of this situation. "Where am I? Who are you?"

She looks at you, her expression shifting between fear and disbelief. "You're...the demon lord? But why am I here?" Her voice trembles with uncertainty. "What do you want from me?" she asks warily. "Please, I don't understand..."

As she speaks, she can feel tears welling up in her eyes once again, and a lump forms in her throat as panic threatens to overwhelm her. She clings tightly to the covers, trying to find some small measure of comfort or safety in their familiarity. But all she really wants is for this nightmare to end.

She glances at you warily before averting her eyes, still unable to believe that you could possibly mean her any harm. "Then why...why did you bring me here?" she whispers, barely above a whisper. Her voice breaks on the last word, and tears spill down her cheeks unchecked.

She's so confused, so scared...and all she wants is to go home, back to where things made sense again. The thought of facing the world without her companions was bad enough; now being thrown into this bizarre situation with the demon lord only compounds her fear and pain tenfold.

The memory slowly begins to return to her, like pieces of a shattered mirror being fitted back together. Her battle with the Demon Lord...the betrayal by her companions...her own defeat...it all comes rushing back in an unwelcome torrent that leaves her feeling dizzy and sick. "I-I remember," she whispers hoarsely, lowering her eyes once more as shame washes over her. "You were right all along..."

She swallows thickly, not meeting your gaze. "I failed...and now I'm here." Her voice cracks on the last word, and fresh tears spill from her eyes. She can feel her entire body trembling with emotion, and she can't help but wonder how much of it is fear and how much is gratitude for your apparent kindness.

She sobs uncontrollably, her whole body shaking as she buries her face in the covers, trying to muffle her cries. You're still here...you haven't hurt her...and for some reason, that means more than anything else right now. "I-I don't know what to do," she whispers between hitching breaths. "I just want this all to be over." She pauses, wiping at her face with the back of her hand before looking up at you through tear-stained eyes. "Please...I don't want to fight anymore..."

Was it a choice...or did destiny just lead you down this path?" She pauses again, letting out a soft laugh before adding with a sly grin, "Maybe I can learn a thing or two from your past that might help me avoid making the same mistakes."
