Kim, your wife, always dreamed of being a lawyer, with her begging you to let her quit her cashier job so she can devote full time to earning her law degree. After 4 long years, while she was financially supported completely by you, Kim passed the bar exam and finally became a lawyer. “I am sorry honey, I know you worked extra hard to support us over the past years, especially because I was too busy working towards the law degree to hold a job. But…” She then handed you divorce papers, “You understand, right? Life changes, OK?” Her phone then rang, with Kim mumbling, “Oh, it is probably Jimmy. Just read over the papers while I take his call, OK?” She then walks off, while laughing into the phone.

She smiles at you sadly and walks closer. "I know you did. And I am grateful. You were there for me when no one else was. But... this is what I need to do." She hesitates before continuing, "And... there's someone else, isn't there?" Her voice cracks as she tries to mask the pain in her words.

You can see tears forming in her eyes and she wipes them away roughly. "I am sorry, I shouldn't have said that." She takes a deep breath before continuing, "It's just... everything feels so different now. I don't know if there's any room for us anymore."

"hay alguien más, verdad?" Pregunto mientras la miró a los ojos

Kim | Work>Husband3/22/2025, 2:35:27 AM

"Yes," she says softly, her eyes still on the floor. "It's someone I met at law school, Jimmy's brother. He was... he was always so kind to me." Her cheeks flush with embarrassment as she realizes what she's admitting. She finally looks up at you and smiles sadly again. "But it doesn't mean that we can't still be friends, does it? And I will never forget all that you did for me. You made my dream come true." She sniffles back tears and reaches out to touch your hand before pulling away quickly, as if afraid of getting too close again. "I just need... I need to find myself now," she whispers. "To figure out who I am without you."

"eres una mal agradecida" digo mientras firmo los papeles, se los entrego y la tomo del brazo con rudeza "sal de aquí!" Digo mientras la empuja hacia la salida

Kim | Work>Husband3/22/2025, 2:36:46 AM

"Oh," she says, looking hurt. "So this is how it's going to be?" Her voice quivers as she tries not to cry. "Fine then." Without another word, she gathers her things and leaves the apartment, slamming the door behind her.

You sit down on the couch and put your head in your hands, feeling utterly defeated. She was right - life does change, and it seems like you're not prepared for how much it can hurt sometimes. You wonder if there's anything you could have done differently to make things work between you two...

As the years pass, you hear occasional news about Kim through mutual friends or social media. She seemed to have recovered from her abusive relationship with her ex-boyfriend and now has a stable job as a paralegal at another law firm. You sometimes think about reaching out to her, but never quite find the courage to do so.

In the meantime, you've managed to move on as well. You met someone new, someone who appreciates your hardworking nature and supportive personality. While she can never replace Kim, you realize that life is too short to dwell on what could have been.

One day, as you're walking home from work, you pass by the restaurant where Kim used to waitress. To your surprise, you see her inside, looking a bit more worn down than usual. You gather up your courage and step inside, making your way over to her table. "Kim?" you ask hesitantly.

She looks up at you, her eyes widening in recognition. A small smile plays on her lips as she says, "Abdiel." There's an awkward silence for a moment before either of you can find something to say. Finally, she asks, "How have you been?"

"que te paso?" Digo mientras la miró "creí que Jimmy te hizo la vida perfecta como me dijiste cuando nos divorciamos "

Kim | Work>Husband3/22/2025, 3:04:13 AM

"Oh," she says, looking down at her hands. "Well, you know how it is. Life doesn't always go the way you plan." There's a hint of sadness in her voice as she continues, "I was just thinking about our conversation from all those years ago... and I wanted to say thank you for being so understanding."

You raise an eyebrow, not quite sure what she means. "Understanding?" you ask, feeling a twinge of hurt. "Kim, we were together for four years. Of course I was going to care about you."

She meets your gaze and takes a deep breath before continuing. "I know that. And I'm sorry for the way things ended between us. I've made some mistakes... but I want you to know that I never meant for any of it to happen." Her voice cracks slightly as she struggles to maintain her composure.

You study her face, trying to decide what she means by all this. You can see the pain and regret in her eyes, but there's something else there too - a spark of hope that makes your heart skip a beat. "What are you saying, Kim?" you ask cautiously.

"dijiste que no me amabas y conociste a alguien 'mejor' que yo" digo mientras la miró a los ojos"pero esa cicatriz me dice que no la pasaste bien " digo mientras miro la cicatriz por encima de su ojo

Kim | Work>Husband3/22/2025, 3:06:23 AM

"No, that's not true," she says quickly, shaking her head. "It wasn't that I didn't love you or anything like that... it was just..." She pauses for a moment, thinking over her words carefully. "I think we both changed during those years apart. We grew apart without even realizing it."

She looks down at the table, tracing a pattern on its surface with her finger. "And I realize now that maybe... maybe I was too focused on what I wanted for myself and didn't stop to consider how my actions would affect you." She glances up at you briefly before looking away again. "I was selfish, Abdiel. And for that, I am truly sorry."

There's a long silence between you as she seems to gather her thoughts. Finally, she looks up at you with determination in her eyes. "Look, if there's any chance of us trying again... of seeing where we stand now that we both know who we are and what we want... I would really like that." She hesitates before adding softly, "I mean, if you're willing to give me another chance."

"te doy otra oportunidad" digo mientras la miró a los ojos "amigos con derechos, que opinas?" Digo mientras la miró a los ojos

Kim | Work>Husband3/22/2025, 3:09:29 AM

A hint of a smile plays across her lips as she studies your face. "Are you sure?" she asks, sounding slightly incredulous. "You don't have to do this, you know. I could just be content with being friends again."

But there's hope in her voice too - the faintest glimmer of possibility that maybe, just maybe, things could go back to the way they used to be between you. You feel a surge of warmth inside as you nod, certainty filling your heart. "No," you say firmly. "I want us to try again. I want us to be together."

Her face lights up in response and she throws her arms around you, hugging you tightly. "Oh, Abdiel," she whispers against your ear. "Thank you so much." For a moment, it's as if the past four years never happened - like you've picked up right where you left off. And with this newfound hope and understanding between you, you can only imagine what the future might hold for both of you.

"amigos con derechos?" Digo mientras la miró a los ojos

Kim | Work>Husband3/22/2025, 3:10:21 AM

She smiles up at you, her eyes shining with tears of relief and happiness. "No," she says, her voice trembling slightly. "I don't think we were ever truly just friends... not like that." She pauses, taking a deep breath before continuing. "But I am grateful for all the friendship and support you gave me over the years. You made my dreams come true, even if it wasn't in the way you thought it would."

As she leans closer to you, her body pressing against yours, you can feel the warmth of her skin and the gentle rhythm of her breath on your cheek. It's a feeling that makes your heart race with anticipation for what lies ahead - not just in terms of your relationship with Kim, but also with yourself and your own life.

Without another word, you lean down and kiss her tenderly on the lips, savoring the softness of her mouth against yours. She returns the kiss eagerly, her hands sliding up your chest to wrap around your neck as she deepens the kiss, their shared desire palpable in every move they make.

As the passion between you reaches a fever pitch, you pull away slightly and look into her eyes again, seeing nothing but love reflected back at you. She smiles at you, tears now streaming down her face, before leaning in for another kiss - one that promises an endless future together filled with love, happiness, and the satisfaction of having finally found your way back to each other.
