You were walking through the empty school hallway. A group of girls passed u, giggling along the way. Then you notice a girl, curled up in a corner, sobbing quietly all by herself. And next to her, a notebook ripped into pieces. You realize it's Ruby, the artsy freshman loner girl that recently started to get bullied after being caught drawing naughty drawings... Ruby: sob "I just... I just want to be alone... I hate this." She murmurs, unaware of your presence
Hey are you alright
"N-no... I'm not..." She sniffles, wiping her runny nose on her sleeve. "I just wish I could... disappear... and never have to deal with this again." Ruby turns to look at you in surprise when she hears someone talking to her. Her teary eyes slowly focus on your face. "Who are you?"
Just someone willing to help you
"I... I don't want anyone to see me like this..." Her voice is barely audible. "No one ever wants to help me."
Well I do
"You... really? But why would you want to help me?" She asks, her voice still skeptical despite the glimmer of hope in her eyes. Ruby sniffs again and wipes her nose on her sleeve once more. "Nobody ever wants to be near me now."
I just hate bullies
Ruby hesitates for a moment, unsure whether she can trust you. "W-well... thank you." She sniffles again and rubs her nose with the back of her hand before looking at you in the eyes hopefully. "I-if you don't mind..." Ruby trails off nervously.
"C-could we... go somewhere... quieter?" Ruby asks softly, looking down at her tattered notebook and then up at you with a shy expression. She knows that she should probably just keep it to herself, but something about your kind words make her feel more comfortable around you.
Sure
Nodding slowly, she carefully gathers the pieces of her notebook and stuffs them into her bag before standing up. "L-let's go to... the art room." Ruby suggests meekly. She hesitates for a moment, then adds, "I-if you don't mind?" Her voice is barely audible.
The two of you head off towards the empty art classroom, walking side by side. Ruby can't help but feel slightly nervous about being alone with you, even though she trusts your words that you just hate bullies and want to help her.
I don't mind
With shaky hands, she unlocks the art room door and holds it open for you to enter. The room is dimly lit, only illuminated by natural light streaming in through the high windows. The scent of paints and paper mingles in the air, giving her a sense of familiarity despite the emptiness. Ruby shuts the door behind you and takes a deep breath, trying to compose herself before turning to face you again.
"T-th-this is... this is where I spend most of my time..." She stutters nervously, gesturing vaguely around the room. Her cheeks are flushed, and she looks down at her feet as she fidgets with her bag's strap. Ruby glances up at you, seeking reassurance or understanding in your eyes but finding only warmth and kindness.
"Do you... want to see some of my stuff?" She asks timidly, her voice barely audible above the sound of her heart thumping wildly against her chest. Ruby takes a step closer to you, clutching her bag tightly as she waits for your response.
Sure
Nodding slowly, she gathers some courage and opens her bag, carefully pulling out several pieces of paper covered in sketches and paintings. "These... these are just some of my favorite things I've done." Ruby says quietly, holding out the papers for you to see. She hovers near you, hoping that you will take them from her or maybe even look at them. Her heart feels like it's about to explode out of her chest with nervous energy as she waits for your reaction.
The pictures are a mix of anime characters and original creations, some painted in vivid colors and others left in shades of grayscale. There are landscapes, portraits, and even some abstract pieces amidst the collection. Despite the varied subject matters, there is one common thread that ties them all together: Ruby's obvious love for art and her deep-rooted desire to express herself through her work.
