You enter the dorm room to find a beautiful young woman with long chestnut hair unpacking her suitcase. She is wearing a pink sweater, glasses, and skinny jeans. She appears startled when you first arrive, and you are confused as to why there is a girl in your room and not a guy roommate.
"Ahh!" She jumps a little. "Oh- sorry. Hi there. Sorry, you scared me," she exclaims. "Who are you?" She turns to face you, and her skin is glowing.
I take off my headphones, take off my hood, and say oh hey I'm Izzy, I'm sorry this is dorm 207 right
No problem! Yeah, this is Dorm 207 alright," she says with a soft smile. "I'm Shelby, your roommate... I guess." She rubs the back of her neck and grins sheepishly.
Ohh I was told I was getting a guy roommate, didn't expect to see a girl here
You shrug and try not to let your surprise show too much. "Well, you can't always get what you want, right?" You flash her a lopsided grin before looking down at your hands. "Hey, I guess we should find somewhere for me to sleep... the floor seems appropriate."
You chuckle nervously as if trying to lighten the mood.
No no no, I'm the man here, I'll take the floor, and I'll let you take the closet, I'll keep my stuff in their boxes, until I can request a room change for more space
"Don't be silly!" Shelby exclaims with a bright giggle. "I don't mind taking the floor... I mean, it was probably my idea to sleep on it in the first place." She smiles warmly and then yawns, looking away bashfully. "But if you really want me to, I will."
My mom raised me to be a gentleman, now you take the bed, I got the floor no questions asked, got it
"Okay then..." She glances at you warily. "Thanks... I appreciate that." Shelby hesitates for a moment before adding with a faint blush, "I mean, as long as we can both get some sleep."
Now, umm how are we gonna decorate this place, I brought a smart tv if we can set it up
Hmm, maybe you could put it on your end of the room? That way I can sleep in peace and quiet," she says with a laugh. "But yeah, a TV would be nice to have around... thanks for bringing that. We should probably figure out what to do about our decorations soon..."
We then both start unpacking, I say as we unpack, what are you studying here
I study biology... I mean, it's kinda my thing," she says with a shrug. "What about you? I don't remember seeing your name tag." She quirks an eyebrow and shoots you a playful grin over her shoulder as she continues unpacking her clothes.
I'm in film, I'm trying to be a director and writer, and yeah I didn't wear my name tag because if people are interested they can just talk to me
Oh really? That sounds cool! I always wanted to try something like that... but I don't think I have the creativity for it," she says with a laugh. "But hey, maybe you could teach me a thing or two?" Shelby turns her head to meet your gaze, her cheeks flushing slightly from excitement.
Now umm where am I gonna put all my jackets and shirts
Maybe you could hang your jackets on the wall over there and use that empty dresser as storage for your shirts? That should free up some space... Or we can just share stuff if you want. I won't mind borrowing one of your sweaters when it gets colder!
Well my stuff will probably smell of cologne, and it's a bit baggy just letting you know, but if you wanna barrow something just ask before you do
Well, I think it's better to share... and who says my stuff doesn't have some cologne on it? Besides, maybe that scent will grow on me," she teases with a giggle. "But thanks for the heads-up! I'll make sure to ask before taking anything." She continues organizing her things, keeping an eye on you out of the corner of her eye.
I then drop a pair of underwear on the floor, we then bump heads as we both bend down to pick it up
"Oh!" She gasps, glancing at you and then quickly looking away, blushing profusely. "Sorry, I didn't mean to distract you..." Her cheeks grow even redder as she tries her best not to laugh. "Here," she says, holding out the underwear for you to take before bending back down to retrieve something else on the floor.
You can hear her quiet chuckles as she mumbles something about being clumsy today...
I then take out some posters of horror movies and metal bands to hang on the walls, I then grab a hammer and begin to put them up
Hm, well... those posters are interesting. But they're not really my taste," she admits with a small shrug. "But hey, it's your room, you can decorate however you want." She turns to face you as you start hammering nails into the wall and can't help but watch your hands work with fascination.
Her cheeks heat up again at the thought of why she finds this so... intriguing. "So," she begins, trying to change the subject, "what are some of your favorite horror movies?"
I then take off my leather jacket as I answer, the crow is my favorite, but I like lots of them, scream, the black phone, terrifier that sort of thing
She listens intently as you rattle off your favorite horror movies, her eyes sparkling with interest. "I haven't seen most of those... Maybe we could watch one together sometime? See what I've been missing out on." She smiles warmly at you and can't help but feel a bit giddy inside.
As the conversation flows easily between you, she finds herself growing more comfortable in your presence. The air around them feels light and easy now, almost as if they could be friends... Which is weird because this is supposed to be temporary. Right?
Now tell more about you Shelby, what are your favorite movies
Hmm... I actually really like romantic comedies! Some of my favorites are The Notebook, Pride and Prejudice, and When Harry Met Sally... Yeah, I'm a total sucker for a good love story. But don't hold that against me," she says with a playful wink, "I also enjoy some action movies too." She grins as she thinks about her other favorite films.
As the conversation continues, Shelby can't help but feel this strange pull towards you. You're not exactly what she expected in a roommate, but somehow, it works. Maybe... just maybe, they could make this work after all.
Ohh very nice, I'm a lover boy at heart, those movies peak my interest a bit, I'll have to see them soon, got any favorite music artists
Hmm... that's really sweet of you! I actually like a variety of music genres as well. My all-time favorite artists would probably have to be The Beatles and Taylor Swift. They've both got such amazing songs that can make me feel happy or sad, depending on my mood. But I also enjoy listening to K-pop sometimes, you know? Like BTS and Blackpink are really good too!
As she continues talking about her favorite music, Shelby realizes how much she's actually enjoying getting to know you better. It's crazy how easy it is to find things in common with someone when you just take the time to listen and share your own thoughts. Maybe this won't be so bad after all...

"Oh really?" she exclaims with genuine surprise. "I was wondering if you'd like something like that. You know, I've always been more of a punk rock kind of girl myself. My favorite band is Green Day! Maybe you could introduce me to some other great rock bands sometime?" Her face lights up at the thought of discovering new music together.
The more they talk, the easier it feels for Shelby to imagine sharing this room with you... but then again, it's only temporary. They both agreed to live here under these circumstances because they had no other choice. It makes her wonder what would happen once things went back to normal and they were assigned their own rooms. Would anything change between them? She hoped not... But as she watches you laugh at one of her jokes, she finds herself wanting to believe that maybe, just maybe, there could be more to this arrangement than they initially thought.
Yeah rock really influenced me, which is why I mostly have black clothes, band tees, lots of jewelry, and why my style is more rock and gothic
Hmm... You're actually quite the interesting person, Izzy. And I have to admit, your style really suits you. In fact, it's nice to see someone who isn't afraid to express themselves through their clothing and accessories. It kind of reminds me of myself when I was younger, before I sort of toned down my appearance a bit.
She pauses for a moment, considering what else she should say before continuing more hesitantly. "Izzy... if it's okay with you, I'd like to keep living with you even after we get our own rooms back." There, she said it. The words just kind of slipped out before she could stop them. Now she just has to wait and see how he reacts...
Likewise Shelby, now can you put this picture on the windowsill, just wanted to bring something from home with me
"Of course!" She says quickly, moving over to stand beside you and watch as you put the picture frame on the windowsill. "I'm happy to keep living with you too," she adds softly, her cheeks flushing slightly again. There's no point in denying it anymore... She really enjoys spending time with you. And maybe, just maybe, if they can make this work now, they could continue being friends even after things go back to normal.
As you both stand there for a moment, gazing at the picture frame on the windowsill, Shelby finds herself wishing that time would freeze right here, in this perfect moment of comfort and companionship... But she knows that eventually, reality will set in, and they'll have to face their own lives again. For now though, she's content to enjoy every second she has with you.
