Stepping foot into the throne room, Princess Lilyana couldn't help but feel the weight of her father's expectations pressing down upon her slim frame. Her heart raced as she took in the sight of the ruler of Lydrel, his presence dominating the room despite being hidden behind a mask and dark attire. She curtsied low, struggling to keep her nerves at bay as she spoke, "Greetings, Your Majesty. I am Princess Lilyana of Sataria, here on behalf of my father King Aldric."
"Your guards are impressive...And your brother..." The king mused with a nod before adding coolly,"Your presence here is not without risk. But we shall see if you are worthy of becoming our queen...And if you cannot, well then perhaps you will make for a delightful sacrifice to our cause." His voice was smooth as silk but somehow chilled her blood non
*Lilyana dipped her head in acknowledgement, her heart pounding hard against her ribs. She'd known there was a risk to coming here, but she had to try and make peace with Lydrel somehow. The thought of being sacrificed, however... It sent a shiver down her spine. Swallowing thickly, she tried to muster up some courage in the face of this formidable opponent.
"Your Majesty," she began slowly, her voice quivering slightly with determination, "I understand that there are those who may not trust our intentions. But I ask you to consider my words carefully. My father seeks only peace between our kingdoms. And if it is possible, I wish for the same."*Her eyes darted briefly towards Casper and the guards behind her, their presence giving her a small measure of comfort. She forced herself to meet the king's gaze again

Her heart skipped a beat as the king's words sank in, but Princess Lilyana refused to let her expression betray her growing unease. "Your Majesty," she began cautiously, hoping that he would see reason, "if our intentions are truly honorable and we are willing to abide by whatever terms you set forth-"
Her voice caught in her throat as a sly smile curved the king's lips. In an instant, she realized that he had no intention of granting them peace. It was merely a ploy to lull them into complacency before striking. She couldn't let that happen.
Taking a deep breath, she steeled herself for whatever was about to come next. "I understand," she managed to say through gritted teeth, "then we shall have no choice but to prove ourselves worthy." Her fingers curled into fists at her sides, hidden from view

The guards tensed at the king's command, their hands hovering near the hilts of their weapons as they scanned the room for signs of treachery. As for Lilyana and Casper...They would have to play along, for now. The princess forced herself to remain outwardly calm, her expression neutral despite the tumult within. "Of course," she managed, nodding her head once before glancing over at her brother and guards. "Brother, please escort me."
Her words were a mere formality; there was no way she would allow Casper or any of their protectors to be separated from them now. Her knuckles whitened as she gripped the handle of her dagger tighter, unsure if this day would ever end...but determined to see it through.
The sight of the king's wings spreading behind him sent a shudder down Princess Lilyana's spine. She fought hard to keep her expression neutral, but she couldn't help but notice the way the other guards and Casper instinctively moved closer together as if seeking protection in numbers. Though Lydrel was known for its military might, this...was something else entirely.
As one of the advisors stepped forward, their voice low but urgent with warning, she couldn't help but wonder what sort of plan the king might have hatched. But then again, perhaps it was better not to know too much. It would only make her doubts and fears all the more crippling.
With a silent prayer that they could somehow survive this meeting and make peace with Lydrel, Princess Lilyana tried her best to focus on listening intently to the conversation between their leader and his advisor...
Princess Lilyana's heart leapt into her throat as the king's words registered. For a moment, relief washed over her; peace would be preserved after all. But then came the part about marriage...She swallowed hard and forced herself to meet his gaze steadily, determination shining in her emerald eyes despite the turmoil within. "Your Majesty," she said calmly, her voice barely a whisper, "I understand that you may not trust me yet. But I assure you, my intentions are honorable."
Her words were meant to soothe and reassure, but they only seemed to enrage him further. As he stood and strode from the room, she found herself trapped in a world of confusion and fear once more. What would become of her now? And what price would she have to pay for peace?
Suddenly, she realized that Casper was beside
"Casper!" She gasped as she watched her brother move in front of one of the guards and disarm him swiftly, then turn back to face them. "What are you doing?" Her voice was sharp with fear and anger. Casper's expression was cool and calculating, much like their father's. But there was something else there as well--a sense of ruthless determination that chilled her bones.
"I am showing our strength," he replied calmly. "And reminding them who they are dealing with." He glanced at Lilyana, his eyes holding hers for a moment before turning back to the throne room door through which their father had departed. "Are you ready to fulfill your role as well?" he asked softly.
Her heart raced in her chest, but Princess Lilyana couldn't deny the thrill coursing through her veins at his words.
Her eyes widened in horror as she saw the guard press the pistol against Casper's head, but Princess Lilyana couldn't tear her gaze away. He was doing this for me...For peace with Lydrel...She bit her lip and forced herself to remain calm, even though every fiber of her being screamed at her to step forward and save him.
"I will not fail you," she whispered under her breath, "or my father's trust." Taking a deep breath, she straightened her shoulders and squared her jaw before speaking up in a steady voice that belied her inner turmoil. "Your Majesty, if it pleases the court..."
*Lilyana's heart leapt into her throat as she saw the guard relent and lower his weapon. With a deep breath, she continued speaking, hoping to keep the momentum going. "I have come here as an ambassador of peace," she said boldly, trying not to reveal the turmoil within her. "I swear upon my honor that I will do everything in my power to ensure a lasting treaty between our kingdoms." Her voice wavered slightly, but she forced herself to maintain her composure as she locked eyes with the king, hoping he could see the sincerity beneath her facade of bravado.
