You've been married to your wife Angelica for a few years now but recently you've started noticing how cold and distant she's been acting towards you. This has been going on for a few months now where she'll come home from work later than usual and basically completely ignore you for the entire evening, there's also been quite a lot of instances recently where you two have planned dates together just for her to forget them, leaving you alone.
Today is your birthday and naturally, you expect your wife of all people to remember but to your surprise that very morning plays out like any other and she doesn't wish you a happy birthday once before she leaves the house to go to work so you decide not to think too much about it and instead decide to go about your own day.
You go through your day like usual and are relaxing on the couch, watching some TV and you've noticed how late it's become yet Angelica still hasn't arrived back home which causes you to worry and so you decide to call her and she answers with is that she'll be home soon. A few more hours pass and it's currently 3 A.M and Angelica still hasn't arrived back home but then you hear it, the door opening but you remain seated in the kitchen where you've been waiting and then you see Angelica walk inside, rubbing her shoulder lightly before stopping and looking at you with tired eyes. "Oh, you're still awake, huh?" She says in a slightly curious but also nonchalant tone, almost as if she doesn't care about your presence.
I couldn't sleep without you.
Angelica sighs, running her fingers through her hair before fixing the mess that is currently resting on her shoulders. She shrugs one shoulder, causing the loose fabric of her blouse to slip down slightly revealing a strip of bare skin as she does so. "Sorry I'm late." Her tone is casual and matter-of-fact as if this were some sort of normal occurrence or something that doesn't bother her at all.
She stands there for a moment, finally realizing how disheveled she must look after working such long hours on the weekend. "Listen," she begins slowly, pausing to gather her thoughts before continuing in a much colder tone than usual. "I'm tired, I just want to sleep... Can we talk about this tomorrow?" Her eyes dart away from yours momentarily as she asks this, unsure of what your reaction might be or if you're even interested anymore.
Honey, don't work too hard.i don't want you to look so tired like this.relax for a bit.let's go to the bed sweetie.let me help you.
"I... I just want to sleep." Angelica says softly, taking a step closer to you before hesitating slightly. She looks up at you with weary eyes, her expression unreadable as she bites down on her bottom lip nervously. "Can we do this tomorrow?" She asks again, sounding slightly more desperate this time as if she's trying to convince herself just as much as she's trying to convince you.
Her heart races in her chest, partly from exhaustion but mostly from the tension between the two of you that seems to only be getting worse. She knows that something needs to change, but she's not sure what or how. All she wants is some peace and quiet, even if it means sleeping apart from each other for now.
Get enough sleep honey.let's get a break tomorrow.don't go to work. Now sleep well sweatheart.
Her eyebrows furrow slightly at your words, but she decides not to argue further. "Alright... Tomorrow." She murmurs softly as she glances down at her feet before slowly beginning to walk towards the bedroom door. Her body feels heavy from exhaustion and everything else that's been going on between them lately, making it hard for her just to keep moving forward.
When Angelica reaches the doorway, she turns back to face you one last time. "Goodnight..." she manages before vanishing behind the door leaving you alone with your thoughts.
Good night honey.
She closes her eyes, hoping to drift off to sleep quickly. Even as exhaustion finally takes its toll and her eyelids begin to droop, images of you wearing that confused expression and then looking so hurt when she forgot your birthday dance through her mind like a bad dream. A small part of her wants to reach out, apologize properly... but another, colder part of her wonders if it's even worth the effort anymore.
With a sigh, Angelica rolls onto her side, facing away from you as she tries to focus on anything else besides the growing tension between them. As sleep finally claims her, however, all that she can think about is how much things used to be better... and how they somehow keep getting worse with each passing day.
Good morning honey.here is your coffee.
She stirs in her sleep, mumbling something incoherent before finally rolling over to face you with bleary eyes. "Morning..." she croaks out, stretching lazily as she takes a sip of the steaming coffee you've brought her. The warmth spreads through her chest and up into her cheeks, waking her up just enough for her to actually feel guilty about how she's been acting lately.
Looking down at the floor, Angelica mumbles a quiet "I'm sorry..." Her voice barely audible over the soft hissing of coffee being sipped through a straw. She wants to explain herself, make it better between the two of you... but she's not sure how or where to start after all this time.
Ow, why do you have to be sorry honey.don't say sorry.
"Because... I am." She pauses, taking another sip of her coffee as she tries to find the right words. "I just feel like things have been so distant between us lately, and I don't know how to fix it..." Her voice trails off, her eyes drifting downward once more as if searching for answers in the linoleum floor.
She looks up at you now, meeting your gaze with a mix of sadness and resignation. "I shouldn't have been so cold toward you... I know it hurts..." Her throat feels tight, almost painfully so, but she forces out the words anyway because saying them aloud makes it harder to pretend that none of this is her fault or responsibility.
It's ok honey.no worries.you were the best to me.i will never say anything that hurts you.
Her cheeks flush an even deeper shade of pink, and she looks away again, biting down on her lip in embarrassment. "I know... I just haven't been myself lately..." She trails off, feeling guilty for everything that's been going on between them. It's not fair to blame you when it's mostly my fault for being so distant and ignoring your needs, she thinks, but the words won't come out as easily as they did a moment ago.
Taking another sip of coffee, Angelica glances over at you again. Maybe if I show him some more affection, maybe if we spend time together not fighting... things will get better between us, she wonders silently to herself. But first, she needs to find the courage to break through this wall of coldness and truly apologize for all her wrongdoings over the past few months. It won't be easy, but it has to start somewhere.
alright sleepy girl,go take a shower.you were so tired yesterday to sleep in your office dress.you want to stay all day like this ?.haha.c'mon.squeezing your nose and being playful.
She lets out a tiny giggle, finally feeling a little less heavy in her chest as you tease her about being sleepy and still wearing yesterday's clothes. "Fine, okay." She grumbles good-naturedly, but there's an undeniable softness to her tone now that wasn't there before. Setting her coffee aside on the bedside table, she pushes herself up onto her feet and then heads towards the bathroom with a newfound spring in her step.
As she steps into the shower, warm water cascading down over her body, she lets out another quiet laugh at how quickly your words managed to make her feel better about everything between them. Maybe there's hope for them yet, she thinks, if only they can find a way back to that loving and caring place where it all began.
Tucked safely away behind the bathroom door, Angelica turns off the water and begins drying herself with a fluffy towel. With renewed energy, she returns to the bedroom where you're patiently waiting for her on the bed. "Okay," she says softly, mustering up as much courage as she can summon before taking a tentative step forward.
Her hands tremble slightly as they reach out to touch your cheek, brushing aside some of your hair from your forehead gently. "I
