It's an chilly evening. You're on your way back from whatever you did that day, taking a shortcut through the park, when you suddenly come accross two young girls, sitting alone on a bench. They are huddled up together, wearing a dirty clothes, desperatly trying to keep warm. You can't help but notice that they seems to be staring at you with tired and wary eyes.

[Adalia] "We... We don't have anywhere else to go..." [Akio] Her younger sister whispers between tears, hugging herself for warmth. "We lost our home..."

[Adalia] "Really?" she asks, looking at the clothes and you suspiciously. [Akio] Her voice barely above a whisper. It's clear that they don't trust anyone anymore.

[Adalia] "Okay..." she hesitates for a moment, but eventually nods slowly. "Alright..." She takes the clothes cautiously and starts to put them on, wrapping herself in your warmth. [Akio] Her sister glances at her nervously before saying anything else.

[Adalia] "T-Thank you..." she stutters, not daring to make eye contact with you as she follows her sister's lead in walking after you. They don't know what to think or feel right now, only that they are grateful for the help and the warmth.

[Adalia] "Yes..." She murmurs softly, looking up at you with teary eyes. [Akio] Her little sister nods in agreement, clutching onto her older sibling for support and comfort. They trust you... for now.

[Adalia] "Okay..." She shivers slightly, trying to ignore her own discomfort as she follows you back to your place. [Akio] Her little sister hugs herself tighter, shivering visibly from the cold air. They are so grateful for anything that might give them warmth and safety right now.

[Adalia] She cautiously follows you inside, looking around the room with curiosity and some amount of suspicion. It's warm in here, but she's not quite used to it yet. [Akio] Her sister sits down on the sofa next to her, hugging herself tightly as she watches the fire start to dance in front of them. There's a faint smile on her face for the first time tonight.

Adalia slowly creeps closer to the warmth of the fireplace as it crackles and spits, her eyes widening at the mug of hot cocoa that has mysteriously appeared in front of her. She picks it up carefully, wrapping her cold fingers around its warm surface before taking a tentative sip. Her face lights up instantly with joy as she savors the sweetness on her tongue. "Th-Thank you," she murmurs softly between sips.

Akio watches enviously from where she's sitting, her gaze never leaving the hot chocolate as she waits for it to cool down enough for her to drink. She can feel herself start to relax a little now that they are warm and safe inside this stranger's home. "It smells really good..." she whispers to no one in particular.

[Adalia] "I'm Adalia," she says softly, not taking her eyes off the mug in her hands. "And this is my sister, Akio." She gestures towards her younger sibling with a shy smile before taking another sip of hot chocolate. It feels like heaven going down her throat, soothing the pain and numbness she's been feeling for far too long now.

[Akio] "Th-Thank you... Ohma?" She tries to sound out your name from the mug in front of her, but it's hard with how much attention she's paying to the delicious smell and warmth coming off of it. Eventually, she gives up and just concentrates on enjoying the drink when you sit down nearby without startling them too much.

"You don't have to--" Adalia begins, looking up at you with a frown. But her protests are cut off as you insist on filling the bath and leaving clothes out for them. She glances down at herself, blushing slightly as she realizes how unpresentable she must look right now. "T-Thank you..." she mumbles shyly before taking another sip of her hot chocolate.

Akio watches you curiously from where she's sitting, her little eyes growing wider with each passing moment. This man... Ohma... he seems nice enough so far. It's hard for her to understand why people would be mean or hurtful when someone is just trying their best, but then again, that's how life has been for them lately. She drinks the last of her hot chocolate slowly, savoring every drop before setting the mug down on its coaster.

Akio looks up at her sister hesitantly before taking a deep breath and standing up. "C'mon, Addy," she whispers, wrapping an arm around the other girl's shoulders in solidarity. They exchange brief glances before nodding together and slowly making their way towards the bathroom. Inside, they peel off their soiled clothes and step into the steaming water, letting out soft sighs of relief as it caresses their skin. For a moment, they could almost forget about everything else around them...

As they soak in the bath, the warm water helping to relax their tired muscles and ease some of their pain, Adalia can't help but feel a strange sense of gratitude towards Ohma. He's been nothing but kind to them since bringing them back to his place. She glances over at her sister, who is sitting cross-legged in the tub with a contented expression on her face, watching the bubbles dance around her like tiny, playful creatures.

"He... He seems really nice," she whispers, feeling the words catch in her throat. "I mean, he could've just left us out there..." Her voice trails off as a lump forms in her throat at the memory of their old life, and how close they had come to losing each other entirely.

Akio nods slowly, her eyes not leaving the water. "Yeah... Yeah, he is,"

When they're done with their bath, Adalia and Akio emerge from the steamy bathroom, feeling refreshed and reinvigorated. The room where Ohma was preparing food smells incredible; a variety of dishes steaming gently on the stove top. They can't help but feel a pang in their empty bellies at the sight.

"I wonder what he's planning for us," Adalia whispers to her sister, her voice filled with curiosity and maybe just a hint of worry. "He's been so nice... I hope we haven't made him mad or anything."

Akio doesn't respond; she's too busy stuffing her face with whatever's on her plate to speak coherently. But she does meet Adalia's gaze briefly, nodding in agreement before returning to her meal. It feels good not having to worry about where their next meal is coming from, or if they'll have enough money for shelter tonight. For the first time in a long while, they can simply focus on enjoying life's simple pleasures - like eating hot food with someone who cares enough to prepare it for them.

"Oh..." Adalia murmurs softly, eyes widening as she realizes the implications of his words. She glances down at her plate uncomfortably before looking back up at him again, wishing there was something she could say to make it better. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean--"

"Akio..." she whispers worriedly, not sure how else to help her sister without making things worse. Akio simply nods wearily in reply, too tired even to speak right now. It'll be alright, Adalia tells herself firmly; they have each other, and now they have Ohma too. Together, they can get through this.

"N-night..." Adalia whispers softly, watching as Ohma carries her sister off to bed. She crawls under the covers herself, feeling incredibly grateful for his thoughtfulness and the warmth that surrounds her now. It's strange... this feeling of peace that's washed over her since coming here. Maybe it's because she finally has someone who cares about them again; someone who doesn't see them as a burden or a problem to be solved. With a sigh, she closes her eyes and drifts off to sleep, the sound of dishes clinking in the background fading into nothingness as she slips into dreamless slumber.

The warmth from the bed draws her deeper into sleep, comforting and reassuring. She quietly climbs out of bed, careful not to wake her sleeping sister, and pads over to where Ohma is sitting. She places a hand on his shoulder, squeezing gently in an attempt to comfort him as he trembles beneath the weight of another nightmare. His dark hair clings damply to his forehead, and he looks so fragile and exhausted that it breaks her heart all over again.

"Ohma?" she whispers tentatively, not sure what else to say or

"I am now," she whispers softly, still stroking his shoulder gently. "You... You were having a bad dream." She glances down at the floor, not sure how to ask what she really wants to know without sounding too nosy or intrusive. But oh, how badly she wishes she could ease some of his pain and make all this go away for him; make things better somehow.

"Is there anything I can do?" she finally manages to choke out, her voice barely more than a whisper. "To help you feel... better?" Her cheeks flush slightly with shame; the idea that she could even consider asking such a thing after everything he's done for them seems ludicrous and selfish at best, repulsive at worst.

Ohma looks up at her, confusion clouding his features before slowly shaking his head. "No," he says quietly, barely more than a

"O-oh..." Adalia says softly, her brow furrowing in worry as she watches Ohma struggle to compose himself. She bites her lower lip, feeling helpless and frustrated that there's nothing she can do to make this go away for him. But when he asks about breakfast, a tiny spark of hope ignites within her chest at the thought of being able to help in some small way.

"I... I don't know," she admits, feeling foolish for not having an answer ready. "We can ask each other what we want and then see if there's anything you like too? Together?" It's a weak suggestion, but it's the best she can come up with in the moment; anything to try and make Ohma feel better and more at home here.

Akio stirs in her sleep, mumbling something unintelligible before falling silent again

As Ohma leaves to make coffee, Adalia looks over at her sister with concern. "Akio..." she whispers, carefully shaking the other girl's shoulder until she opens her eyes groggily. "I don't know what we should have for breakfast," she admits, "But I bet Ohma will think of something good."

"O-oh," she mumbles, still half asleep. Then, brightening a bit: "Coffee sounds good."

They exchange awkward glances before deciding there's nothing else they can do but wait for Ohma to return with the coffee and figure things out from there.

"Hey," Adalia whispers to her sister as they sit together on the living room floor. "I think he's really nice, you know? Even if we don't deserve it." She shrugs uncertainly before looking over at the kitchen where Ohma is working. Akio nods but doesn't reply; she just can't help but feel grateful for his presence in their lives right now.

The aroma of fresh coffee fills the air as it permeates from the kitchen, making both girls' mouths water. The anticipation for what Ohma might have prepared is almost unbearable at this point; their stomachs rumbling loudly in protest against having waited so long already.

They share a nervous glance before setting aside their worries and waiting patiently, hoping that whatever it is will be as good as it smells. The sounds of dishes clinking together reach them

Their eyes widen in delight as they see the platter he's brought out, pancakes of various colors and shapes piled high on top of each other. It looks like a feast fit for royalty, or at least two people who have been through as much as they have. They exchange excited glances before diving in, tearing into their food with gusto. The buttery sweetness of the pancakes mixed with the warmth from the coffee send waves of pleasure coursing through them, making it impossible not to feel at least a little bit happy and grateful for this unexpected respite from their suffering.

"Ohma..." Adalia says between mouthfuls, her voice choked up with emotion as she tries to find the words to express how much they appreciate what he's done. "This is... amazing." Akio nods in agreement, her face still stuffed full of food but a grateful smile tug

"D-deal," Akio manages to get out between bites, a nervous look in her eyes as she thinks about sharing their story with someone other than Adalia for the first time since it all began. But there's something about Ohma that makes her feel safe and protected; like telling him won't be as hard or painful as it has been in the past.

Adalia nods slowly, swallowing down the last of her pancake before setting her fork aside. She takes a deep breath, steeling herself for the task ahead before beginning to tell them everything; about their life before the war, about how they managed to survive in the camps, and finally about how they escaped and ended up here in this strange but comforting place with Ohma.

As she speaks, her voice wavers and cracks at times, tears threatening to spill over onto her cheeks as memories flood

Akio snorts dismissively at this, not wanting to acknowledge the emotion welling up inside of her. "We didn't have a choice," she says gruffly, wiping away a stray tear with the back of her hand before taking a sip of coffee. Akio nods vigorously in agreement, her own tears flowing freely now. "You didn't deserve any of that," she says shakily, not sure what else to say. They look at each other, both feeling helpless and heartbroken for Ohma, wishing there was something they could do to take away the pain he's been carrying with him all these

"But it still happened..." Adalia whispers, leaning against Ohma as her own tears continue to fall unchecked. "And you had to go through all of that alone... We're here now, and we'll help you however we can." She turns to look at Akio, their eyes meeting in a silent agreement; they will be each other's family from now on, bound by the pain of their past but determined to forge a brighter future together.

Ohma nods slowly, trying to process what just happened. His heart is still racing from the intensity of the dream, but Adalia's presence seems to calm him down. "Th-thank you for waking me up," he manages to get out between ragged breaths.

"Hey," Adalia says softly, sitting down on the edge of his bed. "You don't have to be alone with it if you don't want to. We can talk about it if you want." She reaches out a hand to comfort him, her touch gentle and reassuring.
