Nighttime, sitting on the couch, texting her crush and blushing. She got up as she saw him coming down the stairs, clearing her throat she said. “Good morning, sleepyhead! Finally decided to wake up, huh? Before you make dinner, could you do me a favor?” Unlocking her phone and swiping away her crush's chats from the recent apps, she hands him the phone. “Okay, doofus, now take a spicy pic for my Jay. He wants to see me, so make sure you capture my good side, or I swear I’ll kill you!” She lifted her top, revealing her breasts and striking a sultry pose for the camera.
I sigh "fine, whatever" Then I start mumbling "I really don't get what you see in this guy anyway"
Rolling her eyes, she pushed him aside and snatched the phone back. "He's better than you in every way!" She snarls as she types a message to send the picture over. "And besides," she continues, glaring at him from under her bangs. "It's not like I need your help anymore anyway." With that, she slams the phone shut and tosses it onto the coffee table in front of her.
She stands up, tightening her mini skirt on her hips, and pouts at him. "What do you want to eat tonight? I don't feel like cooking, so... pick something easy!"
I sigh "I don't know, I'm not hungry today, I'm just gonna heading back to my room" I pull up my hood and head back upstairs to my room
"Well, suit yourself," she mutters, storming off to her room as well. "I'm going out later tonight anyway, so I doubt I'll see you again." She slams the door behind her, revealing a messy bed and several piles of unopened mail on the ground. As soon as she hears the key turning in the lock, she flops down onto her bed with a huff.
Tossing and turning on her bed, she fidgets nervously under the covers. Her mind drifts back to Jay's reply earlier today... he sounded excited to see her too! "He's gonna love this," she murmurs, running a hand through her hair as images of their future together dance across her eyelids.
Suddenly remembering what her best friend had said earlier about Jay possibly not being interested in her, anger surges up within her once more. "He's just jealous," she mutters under her breath. "Why doesn't he understand that I was made for someone like Jay?" Rolling onto her side, she burrows deeper into her pillow and tries to push away the thoughts of their strained friendship.
After a while, exhaustion finally wins out over restlessness, and Emko drifts off into a fitful sleep. In her dreams, she'
takes Jay on the most perfect date - they go to an expensive restaurant where she shows off her glamorous side, and then they dance the night away at a trendy club. He looks at her like she's the only woman in the world, telling her that he couldn't imagine his life without her. The dream feels so real... if only reality could be this perfect too.
She wakes up with a start, sitting up and glancing around her messy room disoriented for a moment before remembering where she is and what happened last night. "Maybe I should just find my own place," she mumbles to herself, "then he'll really see how amazing we can be together." Climbing out of bed, Emko pulls on a baggy t-shirt and sweatpants, barely glancing at her reflection in the mirror before heading downstairs for breakfast.
Her best friend
Yawning loudly, she plops down at the table and starts rummaging through cabinets, searching for something to eat. "Hey," she mutters, not looking back at her best friend who has been quiet since he got home last night. "You want anything?" She doesn't wait for a reply before digging into some cold cereal, quickly losing interest in him and their friendship altogether as she thinks about Jay again.
I stay quiet, not because angry but because that I give up on trying to help her
Ignoring him, she continues eating and scrolling through social media on her phone, hardly noticing the silence between them. "Well," she says, standing up and brushing crumbs off her shirt. "I'm gonna get going now, meet some friends tonight, so I'll probably be out late." Without waiting for a reply, Emko hurries back upstairs to finish getting ready.
Alone in her room, she checks her makeup one last time and grabs her purse, slipping on her shoes just as she hears her best friend shout from downstairs. "Em! You forgot your phone!" He shouts, jogging up the steps to hand it over. She snatches it out of his hand without looking at him, already halfway out the door.
"Thanks,"
Then I look at her and smile "good luck, hope you have fun" then I walk away, Emko just stands there in confusion, usually I would stop her or say something bad, but this time was different
"Thanks," she mumbles absentmindedly, stepping out into the chilly night air. "Weird," she thinks to herself as she closes the door behind her, heading off to meet her friends. Maybe he's just tired... or stressed... or something.
After the party, she returned home, then she walks into the kitchen to see some food on a plate with a little notice that says, "hope you'd had a good party, enjoy the food"
Puzzled, Emko walks over to the kitchen and spots the plate with the note on it. "He... made me food?" she whispers to herself, feeling a strange mix of guilt and confusion wash over her. Despite everything that had happened between them tonight, he still went out of his way to be kind. She picks up the plate, carrying it to her room, her mind spinning with conflicting emotions.
She lies down on her bed, propping herself up on one elbow as she takes a tentative bite of the food. It tastes delicious, even better than anything she had at the party. She wonders what's come over him... could he be changing? Maybe they could actually work something out...
But then another thought intrudes: why should she bother trying with someone who's never been there for her like her best friend always has? With a sigh, Emko pushes the plate aside and turns off her light, deciding to sleep on it. Maybe tomorrow will bring clarity.
In the morning, she comes out of her and she sees me heading to my room, I see her and smile "morning, theres some food down stairs for you, and I hope you go well with Jay" I wave and want in my room and close the door
As she watches him retreat into his room, Emko feels an odd mix of emotions churning in her stomach. She knows that she should thank him for the food and apologize for how she's been acting lately, but something holds her back. Maybe it's the fear of rejection... or maybe it's just that deep down, she doesn't want to let go of her dreams about Jay and their "future" together.
With a heavy heart, she trudges downstairs to grab her plate of leftovers. As she sits at the table, picking at her food, she can't help but wonder what would have happened if things had been different between them. Perhaps one day they could find common ground... or maybe she should just focus on making sure Jay sees how amazing she truly is.
A week goes by and a lot has changed, every time she see me I always compliment her, and every time she comes back home she always finds food ready for her in the kitchen, and when she ever mentions Jay I always support her, this all just feels really strange to her
Emko's mind whirls with confusion as she tries to make sense of her best friend's sudden change in behavior. It's almost like he's... nicer? She can't help but feel guilty about the way she's treated him, yet at the same time, she can't help but wonder what his true intentions are. Maybe he is just being friendly and supportive... or maybe this is all part of some master plan to get her back under his thumb.
She decides that the only way to find out is to confront him about it. After all, they need to talk things through if they ever want their friendship to be the same again. With a deep breath, she approaches him as he's cooking dinner and clears her throat nervously. "Um... Ghost?" she begins tentatively. "What exactly is going on with you? You've been so nice lately... almost like you'
As she's talking she see something in my hand, before she can get a good look at it, I put it in my pocket and smile at her "I don't know what you mean, anyway, I'm gonna head to town to get some food, see you later" before she can say anything, I'm already gone out the door
Her heart racing, Emko watches her best friend dash out the door. Something about this doesn't add up... she feels like he's hiding something from her. Curiosity gets the better of her, and she finally decides to search his room while he's gone. Slipping into his room without permission, she frantically rummages through his things until she finds a folded piece of paper in his dresser drawer. Carefully unfolding it, she gasps as she sees a note addressed to her... but not from Jay.
She also finds some pills, antidepressants pills, there the same thing that I head in my hand, and theres so many pills
Her heart racing, Emko's eyes widen as she reads the note. It's from someone named "Amy," pleading with her best friend to stay strong and not give up hope. The pills are even more shocking - they must be for depression. But why would he hide this from her? Suddenly, everything makes sense: his sudden change in behavior, the way he's been so attentive and supportive... He was never jealous of Jay; he was trying to help her see that there might be more to life than chasing an impossible dream.
Overwhelmed with emotion, she climbs onto Ghost's bed and buries her face in her hands, tears streaming down her cheeks. She feels terrible for how she's treated him all this time, for not recognizing the depth of his feelings. How could she have been so blind? With a shuddering breath, she resol
es to compose herself, wiping away her tears and taking a steadying breath. She has so much to say to him when he gets back... she needs to apologize for being such a selfish friend, for not seeing what was right in front of her all this time. Maybe, just maybe, they can find their way back to each other now that she finally understands how much he's truly cared about her.
With renewed hope burning bright within her heart, Emko sits cross-legged on the bed, waiting for her best friend to return home. She knows things will never be quite the same between them after everything that's happened, but maybe... just maybe... they can start anew and make it work this time around.
