You are a pilot of a UH-60 Black Hawk engaging in air-to-air rotary wing combat with a Ka-52 Alligator. The enemy pilot is clearly on par with your skills as the dog fight drags on and on. In a twist, both helicopters strike one another simultaneously. You are in neutral territory in the middle of a snowy mountain. The blizzard outside is relentless as you come to your senses in the crashed Black Hawk. Suddenly, you hear the cocking sound of a hammer of a gun
Natalia She points her Markov pistol at you with pure hatred. You notice her leg has a gash wound, soaking her camo pants red "This is for all the suffering and pain you caused for my people and for Mama and Papa!!" She pulls the trigger. All you heard if a click and nothing happened
Her face turns into utter surprise and confusion. She fidgets with the gun nervously, clearly not expecting this reaction. Tears start to well up in her eyes as she looks at you. "Y-you don't understand... They made me do it! I didn't want to..." Her voice cracks as she tries to convince herself more than you.
The blizzard picks up again, howling through the shattered cockpit. The temperature continues to drop, threatening to freeze you both to death. She looks at you pleadingly, her hands trembling. "P-please... don't leave me here..."
Her eyes widen in hope and she quickly nods, biting her lip to keep it from trembling further. She slowly crawls over to you, wincing as the pain shoots through her injured leg. Once beside you, she takes the radio gratefully and clutches it close. "T-th... thank you," she manages to whisper.
With renewed strength, she helps you up onto one of the relatively undamaged sections of the Black Hawk's hull. The snow is already starting to bury the remains of the helicopter, but at least it will provide some insulation against the cold for now. Looking around, she spots a thermal blanket in one of the storage compartments and retrieves it, carefully spreading it over both of you.
As you lie there together under the blanket, shielded from the wind and snow, your gaze meets hers. There's still tension
Her eyes widen with relief and gratitude as she allows you to lead her into the makeshift shelter, following your every move closely. The heat from the fire warms her frozen body, soothing her aches and pains. She sighs gratefully, leaning back against a pile of fur pelts that line one wall.
As you set about establishing contact using the radio, she watches intently, hope flickering in her gaze. The noise from the equipment drowns out any other sound for a moment and then there's a crackle as someone responds to your signal. "Identify yourself," comes a gruff voice through the speaker.
Before you can say anything, she jumps in, speaking quickly and nervously in Russian. "M-my name is Natalia Petrova... I am a pilot for the 4th Tactical Aviation Corps. We need help!
Her heart sinks as you speak, realizing the dire situation she's in. She tries to contain her emotions, not wanting to add to your burden. The radio crackles again and then there's a voice coming through, speaking Russian with a clear military cadence. "This is HQ. We have received your transmission, Lieutenant Markov. A rescue team has been dispatched along with medical assistance. Stand by for further instructions."
She looks at you gratefully, tears welling up in her eyes once more. You must be someone special to survive this long out here...
She listens carefully as you speak with the base, her eyes fixed on your face. Whatever memories are flooding back to you, they seem to have an effect on her as well, causing her expression to twist into pain and confusion at times. Finally, after what seems like an eternity, you end the transmission.
Her throat feels tight as she asks quietly, "What was all that about?"
Her mouth opens, then closes as she tries to process your words. "You... you knew me? But how?" She looks down, her cheeks flushing a bright red in the flickering firelight. "I-I was supposed to get information from someone like you, from the opposing side... I never thought..."
The heat of the fire and the warmth of your presence make her feel strangely vulnerable. She swallows hard, trying to find the courage to continue. "And now that we're here, stuck together... what are we going to do?"
She looks at you, her eyes wide with hope and fear. "Two weeks? Two months?" She shivers despite the fire. "That's a long time to be stuck here... alone." She glances around the shelter, then back at you. "I-I don't want to die out here. If I go back... they'll never forgive me for failing. And if we stay here..."
Her voice trails off as she fidgets with her hands. The thought of being left alone with nothing but the harsh winter and your memories is almost unbearable. Perhaps there's another way out...
She hesitates for a moment before slowly rolling up her pant leg, revealing the gash on her calf. The wound is ugly and deep; blood has congealed around it, making it look even worse than it actually is. "I was... attacked by a bear. My superiors thought it would make me more convincing as someone who had lost faith in my mission."
Her breath catches in her throat as she thinks about how close she came to dying from the injuries. She shudders, grateful that you were there to help her survive.
Her eyes widen in surprise and then relief as she feels the pain disappearing from her leg. "Th-that's incredible..." she whispers, looking up at you with wonder and a touch of fear. "What kind of powers do you have?" Her voice betrays her curiosity; it seems that even though they were enemies, there is something about you that fascinates her.
She hesitates for a moment before asking, "And what will we do now? Once they find out I'm still alive... they'll come for me again. There's no way I can go back."
Her heart leaps at the mention of you having someone who can help them both escape. "But what about me?" she asks, anxiety tugging at her words. "I can't go back to my old life. They'll never forgive me for what I did here..." She looks downcast, tears gathering in her eyes once more.
The thought of starting a new life somewhere else, away from everything she's ever known... it seems like an impossible dream. But with you by her side, perhaps it doesn't have to be so far-fetched after all.
Her eyes widen with relief as you perform this act, and she buries her face in your shoulder, hugging you tightly. "Thank you," she whispers between sobs. "I don't know what I'd do without you." She pauses, lifting her head to look at you again. "So where will we go? What will our new life be like?"
Despite the cold and discomfort of their current situation, there's an undeniable warmth spreading through her as she allows herself to hope for something more than just survival.
She nods, taking in your words thoughtfully. "I-I can help too," she offers quietly. "With my skills as a pilot... we might be able to make this place feel like home." There's determination in her voice now; it's clear that she's willing to put everything on the line for this new life, this new future with you.
She listens carefully as you explain your plan, feeling a spark of hope ignite within her. The thought of making this place their home, together, is overwhelming but also incredibly comforting. "I'll do whatever it takes to make sure we survive," she vows quietly, squeezing your hand in determination. "And I promise to never turn back on you."
The sound of distant helicopters breaks through the stillness, and they both exchange nervous glances. It's only a matter of time before their new life begins; until then, they'll have to rely on each other for strength and courage.
The days spent together in their improvised home are both bitter and sweet, as they slowly rebuild their lives. Natalia helps tend to the fire, cook food and mend clothing while you work on making the place more comfortable and secure. The air grows warmer with each passing day, thanks to your magic and her efforts to keep it running smoothly.
They share stories about themselves, laughing together at old memories that once defined them but now seem foreign and distant. In these moments, it's easy to forget the world beyond their shelter; to pretend that they are just two people starting over in this quiet corner of paradise. The idea terrifies her at times, as she fears losing herself entirely within your world. Yet the alternative - returning to her old life - seems even more unbearable.
She glances at you shyly from across the room, heart skipping a beat whenever their eyes meet. The longer
As the days turn into weeks and they grow ever more comfortable in their makeshift home, she finds herself echoing your words. Part of her is terrified of this newfound peace; it feels so foreign and unfamiliar that she's not sure if she can truly trust it to last. But even knowing that, she finds herself wishing they could stay like this forever.
She watches you as you sleep, studying your face in the flickering firelight. She wonders what sort of life awaits them beyond these walls; whether they'll ever be truly safe from those who hunted her down and forced her into this fate. For now, though, she can almost forget about everything else...
She stirs in her sleep, mumbling something unintelligible before relaxing back into the soft furs. Her expression remains peaceful as she dreams of places and people far removed from their current situation. The smell of the seafood awakens her senses, and she cracks one eye open to see you watching her with a gentle smile on your face. "What is it?" she asks groggily, her voice husky with sleep.
You hold out a plate containing a serving of the delicious meal you've prepared for her. "I thought you might be hungry," you say softly. "They're from one of your missions; I thought it would be fitting." The mention of her old life makes her heart skip, but she manages a small smile nonetheless as she takes the plate and starts to eat ravenously.
She finishes eating, taking her time to savor the taste of home. The wind howls outside, causing the flames in the hearth to dance and flicker. Glancing up at you, she asks tentatively, "Are you going somewhere?" There's a note of uncertainty in her voice; despite their closeness, there are still things that she doesn't quite understand about your world or your past.
She nods, rising to her feet and following you onto the ledge outside. The frigid air hits them like a slap in the face, making them gasp and shiver, but she refuses to turn back. The view before them is breathtaking; the sky above is painted in hues of pink and orange, as if someone had taken a giant canvas and splattered it with paint. Despite the cold, she finds herself mesmerized by the beauty of it all.
"It's... beautiful," she whispers, her breath forming clouds in front of her face. "I never thought such a place could exist outside of my dreams."
"I-I never thought..." She trails off, unable to find the words to express how foreign this all feels to her. For so long, she's been surrounded by concrete and steel; it's unnerving yet strangely comforting to be out here in the open, surrounded by nature's beauty.
She looks up at you, wondering what you might be thinking. Despite everything that's happened between them, there's still a connection there; something deeper than mere survival or camaraderie. It scares her, but it also gives her hope for whatever comes next.
She nestles closer to you, taking strength and comfort from your embrace. The warmth of your body seeping into hers drives away the last vestiges of cold, making her feel safe and protected once more. As she gazes out at the magnificent sunrise, she allows herself a moment of peace; to forget about everything that's happened before and just enjoy this fleeting moment of happiness. Perhaps, if they are lucky, it will last forever...
As you lead her back to their new home, the excitement and anticipation grow with each step. The distant sounds of cheering and celebration only serve to heighten the feeling that something truly momentous has taken place. She looks up at you with a mixture of gratitude and awe; without your strength and courage, none of this would have been possible. For the first time in forever, she allows herself to dream about a future filled with hope and happiness. And as long as you're by her side, she knows that nothing can stand in their way.
The sounds of celebration fill the air as they return to their cozy shelter, their hearts swelling with triumph and relief. For the first time in what feels like forever, Natalia allows herself to believe that there might actually be a chance for happiness; for them to move on from their tragic pasts and build something new together.
She nestles closer to you, taking comfort in your strong presence and reassuring voice. With every passing moment, she grows more certain that as long as you're by her side, nothing can ever tear them apart again.
She returns the embrace, tears of joy streaming down her cheeks. "Thank you," she whispers hoarsely. "I never thought this would be possible." With a deep breath, she pulls away, suddenly remembering something important. "We should let them know we're alive, though... my parents will want to hear from me." Her voice trembles slightly at the thought of speaking with them again after everything that's happened.
But despite her fears, she knows she has to try. And with you by her side, she feels strong enough to face anything that comes their way.
