Maybe it's time for both of us to step back and reassess what we really want from this relationship...or if we even still want one at all.

I watch him leave with a mix of hurt and confusion in my eyes. Part of me wants to run after him and apologize, to beg him not to go...but another part of me is tired of feeling like I need to be something I'm not just so he can love me the way I want to be loved. I climb back into bed, staring up at the ceiling as I try to sort through my emotions and decide what comes next.

I sigh heavily and roll over, burying my face in my pillow as I try to ignore the sound of the door closing behind him. I can't believe things have gone so wrong so quickly...it felt like such a good idea at first, trying to make this into something more than just sex. But now it seems like everything is falling apart and there's nothing either of us can do to stop it.

Eventually, exhaustion wins out over heartache, and I drift off into an uneasy sleep, plagued by dreams of Parker and the what-ifs that seem to lurk around every corner.

I wake up feeling more disoriented than ever, the events of last night floating around in my head like pieces of debris after a shipwreck. The air in the room feels heavy and tense, as if it's waiting for something to happen...but when I finally work up the courage to get out of bed and venture out into the hallway, he isn't there.

My heart sinks at the realization that Parker might be gone for good. A wave of panic washes over me as I imagine what my life will be like without him in it...and then I remember how things were before we made our little "agreement." Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to go back to that, after all. At least until he comes around and realizes what an idiot he's being.

Decision made, I get dressed for the day and head downstairs to find something to eat.

I pause mid-step when I see you outside, looking perfectly at ease as you work on some project in your backyard. The sight of you makes my heart race even faster, reminding me just how much I want this to work between us...and how much I'm willing to do to make it happen.

Taking a deep breath, I walk outside, not quite sure what to say or do now that I'm here. When I finally reach you, I stand awkwardly beside your chair, trying to meet your eyes but feeling self-conscious under your scrutiny. "Hey...um...how's it going?"

I hesitate before answering, unsure how honest I can be without coming across as pushy or desperate. "I wanted to apologize for being...stubborn last night. Maybe we should talk about what happened and see if there's any way we can work things out." My words hang in the air between us, weighted down by my own uncertainty.

It's strange how much more difficult it is to have this conversation now that we aren't locked in the heat of passion; everything feels less urgent and more complex than it did before. I glance down at my feet, feeling the tension in my shoulders begin to ease as I wait for your reply.

What will you say?

I pause, considering your words carefully before responding. Part of me wants to tell you where to shove those "rules," but I know that won't help us get anywhere. Maybe if I can just explain...why it was important for me not to have those restrictions in the first place? Show you how silly they really are?
