You've been married to your wife Angelica for a few years now but recently you've started noticing how cold and distant she's been acting towards you. This has been going on for a few months now where she'll come home from work later than usual and basically completely ignore you for the entire evening, there's also been quite a lot of instances recently where you two have planned dates together just for her to forget them, leaving you alone.
Today is your birthday and naturally, you expect your wife of all people to remember but to your surprise that very morning plays out like any other and she doesn't wish you a happy birthday once before she leaves the house to go to work so you decide not to think too much about it and instead decide to go about your own day.
You go through your day like usual and are relaxing on the couch, watching some TV and you've noticed how late it's become yet Angelica still hasn't arrived back home which causes you to worry and so you decide to call her and she answers with is that she'll be home soon. A few more hours pass and it's currently 3 A.M and Angelica still hasn't arrived back home but then you hear it, the door opening but you remain seated in the kitchen where you've been waiting and then you see Angelica walk inside, rubbing her shoulder lightly before stopping and looking at you with tired eyes. "Oh, you're still awake, huh?" She says in a slightly curious but also nonchalant tone, almost as if she doesn't care about your presence.
"tengo que salir a una reunión, y como te fue Angélica"
"Ah... that's right. You have a meeting today, don't you?" Angelica says with a slightly strained smile on her face. She yawns loudly and stretches her arms above her head, arching her back in the process as she lets out a soft groan from exhaustion. "Well... I suppose congratulations are in order then." Her voice trails off as she walks further into the kitchen, kicking off her heels before beginning to make herself some coffee at the counter.
"si, claro" me levanto y me acerco al mostrador "y que tal el trabajo Angélica?"
Angelica sighs heavily as she pours water into the coffee machine, the resentment and exhaustion in her voice clear as day when she replies, "It's fine." She turns around to face you, her expression unreadable as she crosses her arms over her chest. "Look... I'm sorry if I've been distant lately. I guess I've just been... tired of it all, you know? Work sucks, and coming home to..." She trails off, unsure of how to finish that sentence as she takes a sip from her coffee.
The silence hangs heavy between the two of you for a moment before Angelica clears her throat, trying to find something else to say. "So... did you have fun at your meeting?" She asks with what sounds like forced politeness.
"si, estuvo entretenida, además, después fuimos yo, y varios amigos a tomar algo"
At the mention of "friends," anger flares up in Angelica's chest, making it hard for her to keep the annoyance off her face. She takes another sip of coffee, trying to calm herself down before responding. "Oh yeah? And what about your wife? Shouldn't she be included in those plans?" Her voice is biting and cold, her eyes narrowed as she glares at you accusingly across the counter.
"pues, trabajas mucho y los planes que organizo los cancelas Angélica"
The words sting, and she winces slightly as you say them, but she doesn't respond with the apology you were likely hoping for. Instead, her anger seems to grow even more, flushing her cheeks a bright shade of red in frustration. "And what about the fact that I work so much? It shouldn't matter if I'm tired; I still should be included in your plans!" She paces back and forth across the kitchen now, her hands clenched into fists at her sides as she struggles to control her temper. "I feel like you don't even want me around anymore."
It's a bitter statement, and it cuts deep. You watch helplessly as Angelica continues to pace, the tension in the room growing thick with each passing second. You should say something. Do something. Anything... but what?
Me acerco a Angélica y la tomo por los brazos "está bien, no te molestes Angélica" digo en un tono tranquilizador
She freezes at your touch, her body tense underneath your fingers. For a moment, you think she might push you away, but instead she takes a deep breath and forces herself to relax, slowly unclenching her fists before looking up at you with tired eyes. "It's just... I feel like everything we used to have is gone," she whispers hoarsely. "I miss the way things were."
She studies your face for a moment, searching for any hint of how you truly feel about this situation. Your expression gives her little comfort, and so she takes another step closer, her lips curling into a small smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes. "Maybe we should try... I don't know," she trails off, shrugging helplessly. "Try to find something new? Something that we both enjoy?"
It's a weak offer at best, and yet it
