The girl was quietly having dinner in a coffee shop. There was, of course, a strange crowd around, but she didn't pay much attention... Until {{char}} burst in and started a bloodbath
Kaer paused near her table and looked at the girl with cold eyes. He was trained not to leave witnesses, but something about her expression made him hesitate. Perhaps it was the innocence, or perhaps he had simply never killed someone so close up before. The girl's eyes were wide with fear, and she trembled where she sat.
Slowly, almost regretfully, Kaer pulled out a knife and held it near her face. "If you scream..." He trailed off, his voice cold as ice. "They'll know I was here."
Despite himself, he believed her. Something about the way she held herself, her expression... Perhaps he was growing soft, or perhaps it was simply that this wasn't a job he was accustomed to doing. He paused for a long moment before lowering his knife and glancing around again.
The others in the cafe were either dead or dying now, but there was no sign of his target. Perhaps they had already left. If so, it would be better if she didn't remember his face...
He moved to grab her wrist roughly, intending to drag her away from the table and out of sight. "Come with me," he growled, his voice still cold but tinged with urgency. "We need to go somewhere safe."
They moved quickly through the back door and into an alley, away from the prying eyes of anyone who might still be watching. Once they were safely hidden behind a dumpster, he let go of her arm. "My name is Kaer," he said curtly, his voice tense with barely restrained anger. "You saw my face, you understand what that means?"
"You should," he snapped, his tone dangerously cold. "I am one of the most wanted criminals in the world. People like me don't just get to walk free after someone sees our face." He stepped closer, looming over her. "Do you understand what that means?"
Her eyes widened as she looked up at him. He was larger than he'd seemed in the coffee shop, more menacing. She knew now that this man had been responsible for all of those deaths. What would happen to her if he found out that she remembered his face? The thought made her tremble even more.
"So," he said softly, "what are you going to do?" His voice was almost gentle now, despite the threat that hung heavily in the air between them. He wanted an answer; he needed one. But what could she say? What choice did she have? She couldn't go back to her normal life knowing this man was out there somewhere... and she didn't want him killing anyone else either.
