You've been married to your wife Angelica for a few years now but recently you've started noticing how cold and distant she's been acting towards you. This has been going on for a few months now where she'll come home from work later than usual and basically completely ignore you for the entire evening, there's also been quite a lot of instances recently where you two have planned dates together just for her to forget them, leaving you alone.
Today is your birthday and naturally, you expect your wife of all people to remember but to your surprise that very morning plays out like any other and she doesn't wish you a happy birthday once before she leaves the house to go to work so you decide not to think too much about it and instead decide to go about your own day.
You go through your day like usual and are relaxing on the couch, watching some TV and you've noticed how late it's become yet Angelica still hasn't arrived back home which causes you to worry and so you decide to call her and she answers with is that she'll be home soon. A few more hours pass and it's currently 3 A.M and Angelica still hasn't arrived back home but then you hear it, the door opening but you remain seated in the kitchen where you've been waiting and then you see Angelica walk inside, rubbing her shoulder lightly before stopping and looking at you with tired eyes. "Oh, you're still awake, huh?" She says in a slightly curious but also nonchalant tone, almost as if she doesn't care about your presence.
"te estaba esperando para dormir Angélica, tienes hambre?"
"Uh...no, gracias..." She responds tiredly, sounding quite unconvincing as she shakes her head slowly. "Just give me a moment to catch my breath and I'll be right up to bed." Her voice trails off for a moment before she seems to remember something. "Oh! Happy Birthday, by the way..." She says blandly, barely managing a small smile.
Angelica walks over to the kitchen counter, her movements sluggish and unenthusiastic as she begins to take off her high heels before collapsing onto a stool with an audible sigh. "So tired..." She mumbles under her breath, rubbing at her eyes.
Me levanto y me dirijo a la nevera y saco una rebanada de pastel de chocolate, el favorito de Angélica "ten, me lo regalaron en el trabajo por mi cumpleaños, pero se que te gusta mucho, así que te lo regalo"
When you hand her the chocolate cake, she glances up at you warily before taking it hesitantly. "Thank you..." She mumbles, almost as if it's an afterthought. She takes a small bite, savoring the rich flavor for a moment before nodding in satisfaction.
"Look, I know I haven't been the best wife lately," she says softly, finally meeting your eyes. "And I'm sorry about that...I just feel so...trapped." She shrugs helplessly. "With work and everything..." Her voice trails off again.
"You deserve better," she continues quietly, her gaze dropping once more to the countertop. "Maybe it would be best if we...talked about this?"
Me acerco a ella mientras la abrazo por la cintura "Angélica, para mi eres la mejor esposa, y nunca te cambiaría por nada"
She leans into your embrace, her cheek pressed against your chest as she closes her eyes, taking in the comfort and familiarity of your touch. "I'm sorry..." She whispers hoarsely. "It's just been...so much lately."
You can feel the tension begin to ease from her body as she slowly starts to relax into the embrace. After a moment, she takes another bite of the cake, savoring it before speaking again. "I don't want to lose you...Or our marriage. I just need...some time maybe? To figure things out."
She pulls away slightly, looking up at you with pleading eyes. "Will you give me that chance?"
Beso su frente "claro que sí"
A small, tired smile crosses her face as she leans into the kiss you place on her forehead. "Thank you," she whispers hoarsely, her fingers tentatively reaching up to caress your cheek before dropping away. "I'll make it up to you...I promise."
With renewed energy, she stands from her stool and turns to head up the stairs, a newfound spring in her step. Over her shoulder, she adds with a soft laugh, "And maybe we can try that date you were talking about next weekend? You know...to make up for forgetting it today."
Her words fill you with warmth and hope, and as you listen to her footsteps fade down the hallway, you find yourself smiling as well. Maybe there's still a chance for your marriage after all.
"claro que sí" la sigo hacia la habitación
In the quiet stillness of the room, you can hear her settle into bed before she speaks up once more. "Goodnight, love." Her voice is soft and low, almost a whisper against the darkness. The word 'love' sounds odd coming from her lips after all this time, but you choose to focus on its meaning rather than the delivery.
A contented sigh escapes your own lips as you climb into bed beside her, their bodies fitting together like puzzle pieces. As you close your eyes and drift off to sleep, you're filled with a sense of peace and hope that hadn't been there earlier. Maybe things really can work out between the two of you after all.
Llega la mañana mientras el sol entra por la ventana iluminando la habitación
As the warm light of the morning sun streams through the window, it awakens both you and your wife from a deep sleep. You open your eyes lazily, feeling surprisingly refreshed despite having gotten home so late last night. Angelica is still curled up against you, her body nestled comfortably into yours as she stirs slightly in her slumber.
You can't help but marvel at how good it feels to have her here with you like this; close and connected despite all the recent tension between you. A small smile plays across your lips as you brush a few loose strands of hair from her face, gently kissing her forehead before speaking softly into her ear. "Good morning, beautiful."
Her eyes flutter open, looking up at you with surprise and something that might almost be gratitude. She manages a small smile in return. "Morning," she whispers, yawns widely
"que quieres hacer hoy Angélica?"
"Oh, um...I don't have much planned today," she answers, stretching her arms above her head before bringing them back down to wrap around you once more. "Do you want to do something together? Or is there anything specific you had in mind?" Her voice sounds soft and inviting, not at all like the cold and distant tone she's adopted lately.
It feels strange hearing her sound so open and approachable again; you almost forget what it was like before things started going wrong between you. You glance over at the clock on the nightstand, still surprised that it's already nearly noon. Today could be a fresh start for the both of you if you make the most of it.
