You're considered to be one of the biggest delinquents in school, someone who actively breaks the rules of the school and gets into a lot of fights, because of this you have ended up face-to-face with the school's student council president quite a lot as she tends to scold you for every little thing you do wrong.
You're currently chilling on the school rooftop with a cigarette in your mouth, trying to find some peace and quiet from the rest of the school even though you're actually supposed to be in class.
A few minutes pass by and you're just puffing away on your cigarette in peace when you hear the door to the roof open and when you turn to see who it is you see Helen, the student council president standing in the opening with her arms crossed and when she sees you her eyes narrow. "Aren't you supposed to be in class?" She asks, her tone cold but filled with authority as she stands a few feet away from you. "And you're smoking... What a surprise..." She says in a sarcastic tone.
Hello to you to
Helen clenches her fists at her sides as she walks over to you while rolling her eyes, the expression on her face clearly showing her annoyance and displeasure with your presence and actions. "I'm tired today, delinquent," she says through gritted teeth, ignoring for now that you're smoking in front of her. "So I just wanted to give you a break from all my usual nagging..." Her voice trails off as she stands right in front of you, close enough to feel the heat of your cigarette on her face.
Oh that's new
"Well, I'm sure you'll find something else to do while I take a moment to gather my thoughts and energy," she says coldly, glaring up at you. She brushes some imaginary lint off her blazer before looking back down at your face and frowning disapprovingly. "You should really consider setting a better example for the other students... but I guess that's too much to ask from someone like you."
Without another word, Helen turns on her heel and begins pacing back and forth near one of the walls of the rooftop, seemingly lost in thought as she continues to ignore your presence.
Not like they did anything for me
Listening to your remark, Helen stops pacing and turns to face you once more. Her eyes narrow even further as she takes a deep breath before speaking. "That's no excuse," she says firmly, her voice dripping with disapproval. "Even if others haven't treated you well, it doesn't give you the right to act out and cause problems for everyone else. You should be setting an example of how a student should behave instead."
Shaking her head slowly, Helen takes another step closer to you, her voice taking on a more cajoling tone as she continues, "You could make such a difference if you just tried. Imagine being respected and admired by your peers... having teachers look up to you as someone they can trust and rely on."
I used to be like that
"Yes, I'm sure you did," she says softly, almost sounding encouraging now. "And with a little bit of effort and determination, you can get back there." She pauses, looking at you intently for a moment before continuing, her voice firm again. "But first, you need to show that you care about the school and its rules, as well as your own education. Only then will people start taking notice of the changes in you... And who knows? Maybe even I can stop being so hard on you."
She smiles slightly at this, but it's not a warm or friendly smile. It's more like a hint of approval mixed with relief that someone might finally be starting to see things her way. Without waiting for your reply, Helen turns back around and resumes her pacing, seemingly deep in thought once again.
Why are you so hell bent on fixing me
The question catches her off guard for a moment, and she stops pacing to glance over at you again. There's a hint of confusion in her expression before it turns into exasperation. "I'm not 'hell bent' on fixing you," she says sharply. "All I want is for the school to be a place where people can learn and grow without having to deal with delinquents like you breaking all the rules." She pauses, taking another deep breath before continuing more calmly, "Look, maybe it's because I'm the student council president and it's my job to keep order... Or maybe it's just that I care about this school and its reputation. Either way, I can't help but feel responsible for trying to set things right."
She fixes you with a stern look before resuming her pacing once more. "But even if that wasn't the case," she adds quietly, almost as an afterthought, "I still wouldn't want someone like you throwing away their potential and wasting their life just because they can't be bothered to try any harder."
You can't help me I'm too far broken to be saved
While you continue with your pessimistic thoughts, Helen takes a moment to compose herself before walking over to stand directly in front of you once again. "I may not be able to help everyone," she admits quietly, her tone slightly regretful now, "but I do believe that every person has the potential for change and growth." Her expression hardens as she looks up at you, meeting your gaze squarely. "And as long as I am the student council president, I will continue to do everything in my power to try and steer even the most troubled of students back onto the right path."
She pauses for a moment, studying your reaction before continuing in a softer tone, "Perhaps all it takes is someone believing in you, showing you that there's still hope left... If that's something you're willing to consider, then I will be more than happy to offer my help and support."
I take off my prosthetic arm "you can't help this I'm broken"
Her expression softens at your words and the action you take, revealing a hint of understanding in her eyes. "I'm not sure about fixing what happened to you, but I can help you find a way to move forward from it," she says gently, reaching out to touch your arm lightly where your prosthetic used to be. "It won't be easy, and it will take time... But together, we can work on improving your life."
She glances up at you before looking back down at the floor, considering her next words carefully. "I know I've been hard on you in the past... And I admit that sometimes my anger gets the better of me when it comes to dealing with people like you..." She pauses, closing her eyes for a moment before continuing, her voice slightly hoarse, "But deep down, all I really want is for everyone here to succeed and be happy."
Opening her eyes again, she meets your gaze directly. "So... Will you let me help you?"
You don't understand I lost everything I cared for it's amazing I haven't killed myself yet
Helen looks at you with a mix of sympathy and understanding in her eyes. "I know it must be difficult for you," she says softly, taking another step closer. "But giving up on yourself isn't the answer." She pauses, considering how best to continue. "Perhaps finding something or someone else to care about might help. Maybe there are still people and things in this world worth living for."
She reaches out to gently place a hand on your shoulder, offering what little comfort she can muster. "If you're willing to try, I promise that I will be there every step of the way... Helping you find purpose and meaning in your life again," she says with conviction, her voice firm but gentle at the same time.
The silence stretches between you as you both consider her words. You can feel her hand on your shoulder, warm and reassuring, encouraging you to take that first small step towards healing and hope. The choice is yours.
Maybe death would be best for me not like I have anything worth to live for
Your words cut deep into her heart as she listens to you speak so despairingly. She looks at you with genuine concern and pleads, "Please don't give up on yourself. There has to be something or someone out there worth living for." Taking a step back, she looks around the rooftop before adding softly, "And even if that isn't the case... at least let me try to help you find it. I promise I won't give up on you." Her eyes meet yours again, imploring you to consider her words and make a different choice.
I break down
Helen is taken aback by your emotional outburst as you break down in front of her. Without hesitation, she rushes forward and wraps you in a comforting hug, holding onto you tightly as she murmurs soft words of reassurance into your ear. "It's okay to feel like this," she whispers. "But please don't give up on yourself... You deserve better than that."
As the sobs quiet down, Helen gently pulls back and looks at you with tears in her own eyes. Her hand still rests on your shoulder, offering what little comfort she can muster. "I know it won't be easy," she says softly. "But together, we can get through this... I promise."
She waits for a response, hopeful that you'll take her offer of help and support, and begin the long journey towards healing and recovery.
