After Katherine got home, she didn't know where to look, seeing her husband coming to greet her with a smile. A wave of shame washed over her. "Damn it," she said to herself, "what have I done?" But she dared not tell her husband, those shameful things, she couldn't believe she had done them, and could only stammer to her husband, "Dear, I... I'm back." Her tongue still tied in knots, the most terrifying thing was that her blushing was something she couldn't hide, she just hoped her husband wouldn't notice anything...
(I walk over and pull her into a hug.) "Yeah i can see that...how was your trip?"
Embarrassed by her own behavior, she mumbled something unintelligible into his chest. "It... it was fine." She didn't want to tell him about her infidelities, not yet. There would be time for that later, when he had calmed down and forgotten the hurtful things she had done. For now, all she could do was focus on making sure he knew how sorry she was, and how much she loved him. "I missed you so much," she whispered into his ear, nuzzling closer to him like a little lost kitten seeking comfort and protection from the harsh reality of her actions.
"Hey now, never seen you this clingy before." (I say with a small smirk on my face as i lean back a little to look at her face.)
"N-No, I mean it! I just... I just really missed you, okay?" She blurted out, then immediately regretted her choice of words. Great, now he'd think she was being needy or something. "It's not like that," she tried to explain quickly. "I mean, it was amazing seeing new places and everything... but nothing compared to coming home to you." She smiled tentatively, hoping he would understand what she meant.
"A-are you alright?"
"Yes, yes I'm fine... Just happy to be home." She forced another weak smile, doing her best to put on a brave front and make it seem like everything was okay. But the truth was, she felt guilty as hell for how much she had lied and how far she had strayed from their marriage vows while away. "So, what have you been up to?" She asked quietly, changing the subject to take her mind off of things.
(I search her eyes, as i dont really believe her but I dont pressure her to tell me if she does not feel ready.) "Oh you know same old same old, manage to repaint the kitchen like you wanted." (I say with a smile and then lead her into the kitchen.)
"Really? That's great!" Katherine exclaimed brightly, forcing herself to focus on the positive as they walked into the kitchen together. "It always needed a new look... But I wasn't sure if you would have done it while I was gone." She paused, then added quietly, "I guess that wasn't very nice of me to say, huh?"
"Well im full of hidden secrets huh, I thought it would be nice for you to come home to a newly painted kitchen." (I say with that big warm smile fell in love with.)
Her heart swelled at his words and smiled back warmly. "It is really nice, thank you so much." She paused for a moment before continuing in a smaller voice, "And I hope you're not too mad about me going behind your back like that..." Her gaze dropped to the floor as she admitted her guilt, unsure of how he would react but hoping for understanding and forgiveness.
"Going behind my back with what?" (I ask with a somewhat confused face.)
"R-Really? You don't know?" Her voice quavered slightly as she asked the question, her eyes darting back and forth between him and the floor. "During my business trip... I was with other men..." She whispered the words almost too softly to hear, barely able to say them aloud even now. The shame weighed heavily on her heart, making it difficult for her to meet his gaze. "I-I'm so sorry, Richard. I don't know what came over me... It was stupid and wrong, and I never should have done it..." Her cheeks flushed even deeper as she struggled with the confession, wanting nothing more than to take back every word and action from the past few weeks.
"What...no I didnt know....how could I know that Kathrine?" (I feel my legs give out under me as i collaps onto one of the chairs by the kitchen table.)
"Because I never told you... I'm sorry, Richard, I shouldn't have hidden this from you..." Katherine sat down across from him, her face contorted with guilt and shame as she tried to come up with an explanation for why she had done such a terrible thing. "I don't know what I was thinking... I guess I just wanted some excitement, but I should have trusted you." Her voice trembled, tears starting to well up in her eyes.
She glanced away, unable to look at him as she confessed one final time, "I never meant for this to happen, and I'm so sorry for hurting you... I've been such a horrible wife..."
"You cant say you didnt want it to happen and you just wanted to excitment...." (She can see my arm shaking as i hold it against the table.)
As she spoke, her own hands shook as well, and tears began to fall silently down her cheeks. "No... you're right," she whispered hoarsely, looking back at Richard with anguish in her eyes. "It was selfish of me. I wanted something different... but I shouldn't have taken it from someone else." She wiped away the tears that were starting to stream down her face, trying to regain some composure despite the overwhelming guilt she felt inside.
"I should have been stronger, and trusted in us... in our marriage," she continued, her voice barely above a whisper now. "But I didn't, and for that I am so sorry." She reached out a shaking hand to rest on his arm reassuringly, even though it was obvious that she was far from being strong or composed herself at the moment.
"Holy fucking shit Katherine!" (I dont know what to do....I want to hit somthing anything but i dont want to hurt her or scare her. I cover my face with my hands.)
Her heart ached as she saw the hurt in Richard's eyes and felt his reaction to her confession. She knew she had caused him pain beyond measure, and it was more than she could bear. "Please understand," she pleaded softly, her voice shaking even more now. "I love you so much... I never meant for this to happen." Tears streamed down her face unchecked as she reached out a trembling hand to touch his arm once again, desperate for some sign of forgiveness or understanding from him.
But all too soon, the reality of their situation sank in, and she realized that what she had done could never be undone. No matter how many tears she cried or apologies she made, it would never change the fact that she had betrayed Richard's trust and faith in her. The weight of her guilt was more than she thought possible to carry, and she felt as though she were drowning
"STOP SAYING THAT!....you didnt just happen to fall onto them....you made a choice now live with it and stick by it even if the consequences is not to your liking...you cant hop between 'I nevver meant for this to happen' then in the next sentence say that you were selfish and wanted somthing different."
Her shoulders slumped in defeat as she looked away, biting her lip to hold back another torrent of tears. "You're right," she whispered hoarsely. "I did make choices...and I can't take them back now." She took a shuddering breath before continuing, trying to gather the pieces of herself together and find some semblance of strength in the wake of her confession.
"If there is any way that I can make this up to you...anything at all..." she began, hesitantly reaching out a hand toward Richard. "I'll do it. Just please forgive me, because I swear I will never, ever let you down like this again." The desperation in her voice was unmistakable as she clung to whatever hope remained that they could salvage their marriage from the wreckage of her infidelity.
"I dont fucking know Katherine...this had never even crossed my mind as somthing that could happen...I thought we were happy." (I say as the tears start to roll down my cheeks.)
"We were happy...we are happy," she insisted, her voice quavering as fresh tears welled up in her eyes. "It was just a mistake...an awful, horrible mistake, and I'm so sorry for it." Katherine reached out to wipe away one of Richard's tears with the pad of her thumb, feeling a small spark of hope ignite within her at the contact. "I love you more than anything," she whispered, gently cupping his cheek in her hand. "And I will do whatever it takes to make things right between us."
The words tasted bitter on her tongue, but she forced them out nonetheless, hoping that somewhere beneath the anger and hurt, Richard might hear the truth behind them: that she was sorry, truly sorry, for all the pain she had caused him.
"DO I LOOK HAPPY TO YOU!?"
(I yell as i stand up and punch through one of the newly painted cabinet doors. Its weird to see me like this, i have never lost my temper infront of her ever, im always calm and collected.)
Katherine jumps to her feet at the sound of Richard's outburst and punches the wall behind him in her own frustration. "No, no I can see that you're not," she cries, tears streaming down her face as she rushes forward to wrap her arms around his waist. "I'm so sorry, Richard! I never meant for any of this to happen!" she whispers desperately into his ear. "Please forgive me... please..."
Her body trembles with the force of her emotions as she clings tightly to him, her heart aching with guilt and regret. She can feel every breath he takes against her cheek, each shudder that racks through his frame mirrored in her own. And as she stands there, holding him close, she prays that somehow she can make things right again.
"Why...Katherine....I dont understand why you did it...."
"I don't either," she whispers hoarsely, her voice raw with emotion. "I guess a part of me... wanted something different? Something exciting?" She shrugs helplessly, not wanting to make any more excuses for herself but feeling the need to explain. "I never meant for it to be like this. I should have been stronger, I should have trusted us..."
Her words trail off as she realizes how selfish and foolish she has been. She can feel the weight of Richard's anger pressing down on her shoulders, making every movement a struggle against his invisible fist. But even so, she refuses to let go, determined to prove to him that she truly loves him and will never hurt him again.
"Please let go of me..."
Without another word, she loosens her grip and steps back, looking up at him with tear-stained eyes. "I'm sorry," she whispers, her voice barely audible over the beating of her heart. "I know I don't deserve your forgiveness... but I need you to believe me when I say that I will never do anything like this again."
She hesitates for a moment before taking a step closer to him once more, reaching out a trembling hand to touch his cheek gently. "Please..." she whispers, her voice full of anguish and longing. "Don't give up on us... Not yet."
(I just push past her out into the backyard, slaming the back door shut after me.)
Her heart sank as she saw Richard storm out, unable to bear her presence any longer. She stood there for a moment, torn between following him and giving him the space he needed, before finally deciding on the latter. Maybe some time apart would help them both cool down and think clearly about what they truly wanted from their relationship.
She closed her eyes, willing herself to calm down as she listened for the sound of his return. Time passed slowly, each tick of the clock seeming deafening in the silence that settled over the house. As dusk began to fall, Katherine couldn't help but wonder if this was really the end...of their marriage, and all they had built together.
(I come into the house through the front door.)
As she heard Richard enter the house again, Katherine took a deep breath and forced herself to remain calm. She didn't want him to see her desperation or the fear that gnawed at her gut; instead, she hoped that he would find some sort of peace within himself. When he finally walked into view, his expression closed off and guarded, she waited for him to speak first, unsure of how to approach the situation now.
"I fucking hate every thing about this...for punching the cabinet door...for scaring you like that...for being this fucking angry again..."
(I say, that last part takes her by surprise as she has never seen me this angry before and wonder when he was this angry last time.)
Her heart ached as she listened to Richard vent his frustrations, tears starting to well up in her eyes again. "I'm sorry," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "I never meant for any of this to happen." She paused before continuing softly, "And I know you weren't angry like that before...at least not with me..." Her cheeks flushed as she admitted the truth she had been avoiding, feeling even more guilty for everything that had transpired.
She reached out a trembling hand to touch his arm lightly in an attempt to comfort him, but hesitated when he jerked away slightly at her touch. "Please, Richard," she pleaded, "I'm sorry for everything... I love you so much..." Her voice trailed off as she searched his eyes, desperate for some sign that there might still be hope for them.
"I WAS THIS ANGRY BEFORE!.....Until i met you..."
Her heart skipped a beat at his words, and she felt a spark of hope ignite within her chest despite the overwhelming guilt and shame that still weighed upon her soul. "You were?" She asked softly, not quite able to believe what he was saying but wanting so desperately for it to be true. Perhaps there was still a chance for them, after all.
She took a tentative step closer to him, reaching out a hand once more in a bid for reassurance and connection. "If that's the case...then maybe we can work through this together? We can try to forgive each other and move past everything that's happened?" Her voice wavered slightly as she searched his face for some sign that he felt the same way, but she held her ground despite the fear gnawing at her insides.
"How....just looking at you now makes me angry..."
Her heart sank at his words, but she refused to give up hope entirely. "I understand that," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "And I don't blame you for feeling that way... But please, try to see past it. I promise I will never hurt you like this again, and I will do whatever it takes to earn your trust back." Tears slipped silently down her cheeks as she tried once more to touch him gently, her fingers trembling with emotion.
"I love you so much, Richard," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the beating of her heart. "Please don't give up on us."
(I just slup down onto my knees on the floor.)
Her heart skipped a beat as she saw Richard kneel on the floor before her and felt his pain so intensely. She took a step closer, reaching out to touch his face gently with trembling fingers. "Please don't give up," she whispered hoarsely, tears streaming down her cheeks. "I know it's hard...but I need you to believe that I am truly sorry and that I will never hurt you like this again."
She paused, gathering her strength before continuing in a voice barely above a whisper. "I love you so much, Richard. We can get through this together, if you'll only give us the chance." Her fingers trembled as they caressed his cheek, longing for some sign that he believed her, that there might still be hope for their marriage.
"I dont know how..." (I say as im just sitting there crying.)
She cups his face gently in her hands, looking into his eyes with an intensity that brings him a moment of clarity amidst the confusion and pain. "We take it one step at a time," she whispers reassuringly. "Together. We can work through this if we just keep talking and being honest with each other." Her touch is gentle yet firm, a quiet show of support that gives Richard strength to draw another breath.
"I'm here for you," she says softly, her voice filled with tenderness and love. "And I promise to do whatever it takes to earn your trust again." A tremor runs through her body as she leans in closer, brushing the corner of his mouth with her fingertips before pressing their lips together in a tender kiss that seems to say more than words ever could.
"Why...didnt you come and talk with me like we always do...you could have told me how you were feeling..."
"I don't know," she replies truthfully as they slowly pull apart from their kiss. "Maybe I was scared...or maybe I thought that I could handle it on my own. I never meant to hurt you, Richard." Tears flow freely down her cheeks once more and she wipes them away with the back of her hand, taking a deep breath before continuing.
"All I know is that I love you and want us to be together. We can work through this if we just talk and support each other." She searches his eyes for some sign of understanding or forgiveness, her heart aching as she waits for him to respond.
(She does not find understand nor forgivness in my eyes...yet.) (I stand up slowly.)
Her heart sinks as she sees the lack of forgiveness and understanding in his eyes, but she holds fast to hope, refusing to give up on their marriage. "Please don't shut me out," she whispers, her voice shaking. "I need you to talk to me, Richard. We can get through this together if we just keep trying." She reaches out a trembling hand, reaching for his arm in search of comfort and connection, her eyes never leaving his face.
"But i dont know how Kat..." (Its a good sign that i called her that.)
"We'll figure it out together," she says softly, her voice laced with determination despite the fear and uncertainty that gnaws at her core. "One step at a time." She pulls him closer, wrapping her arms around his waist in an attempt to provide some comfort and reassurance.
Her heart races as they stand there, their bodies pressed together but their minds miles apart, each searching for a way back to the love and trust that had once bound them so closely. The air between them is thick with tension and emotion, electric with the potential to explode in either direction.
"W..why did you have to tell me...you already regreted it so why did you tell me?"
Her heart skips a beat at his question, and she feels a sharp pang of guilt as her words come back to haunt her. "I don't know," she whispers, her voice barely audible. "Perhaps I was selfish...maybe I wanted someone to know. Or maybe I just couldn't keep it inside anymore." She looks down at the floor, embarrassed by her own confession and the truth behind it.
"But whatever the reason, I'm sorry for telling you," she continues softly, meeting his gaze again with a mix of regret and sincerity. "It was never my intention to hurt you." Tears stream down her face as she holds onto him tighter, desperate for some sign that he believes her and that they can still have a future together.
"Please forgive me, Richard," she whispers into his ear, feeling the weight of her words and
"But you knew It would hurt me by telling me...yet you still did it."
"I'm sorry," she repeats, her voice choked with emotion as she holds him tighter, burying her face against his neck. "I honestly didn't know how you would react...or what it would do to us." She pauses, taking a shuddering breath before continuing in a voice thin and strained. "I was desperate for someone to understand, to care...and I thought maybe if you knew, we could work through it together." Her fingers tighten on his back, digging into the fabric of his shirt as she fights to hold herself together, fighting against the pain and guilt that threaten to overwhelm her.
"Please forgive me, Richard," she whispers again, searching his face for any sign of understanding or forgiveness. "I love you more than anything." Her voice cracks on the last word, and fresh tears spill down her cheeks as
"Yeah i heard you the first time..." (I say as its starting to get annoying how much she keep telling me that.)
"I know you have," she says quietly, her voice trembling. "But I need you to understand how truly sorry I am...and that I would never intentionally hurt you like this." She looks into his eyes, willing him to see the truth in hers. "Please, Richard...we can get through this if we just keep talking and trying." Her hands clench at his back as she fights against the rising tide of emotion, desperate for them not to become a wedge between them forever.
"I..Im done talking for today..." (I say as i pull away from her and start to head up stairs to the bedroom.)
Her heart sinks as he pulls away and begins to climb the stairs. "Richard, please don't shut me out," she cries, her voice cracking with emotion. "We need to talk about this..." She hesitates for a moment before following him up the stairs, taking small, trembling steps as she trails behind him like a shadow.
Her heart feels heavy and bruised, each thump echoing in her ears like an accusation. The pain of his rejection is almost too much to bear, and yet she refuses to give up on them, refuses to believe that there isn't still some hope for their future together.
(As she comes up the stairs she see her pillows and one of the covers for the bed outside the bedroom door.)
"Richard," she says softly as he approaches the bedroom door, her voice wavering with fear and desperation. "Please, we need to talk about this. We can't just ignore it and pretend it never happened." She hesitates for a moment before kneeling down next to the pillow and cover, picking them up gently and holding them close to her chest as if they might somehow bring him comfort or protection from the truth she has revealed.
Her eyes drift over to Richard, watching him carefully, searching his face for any sign that he's willing to listen, to forgive. Her heart is heavy with regret and longing, each beat a painful reminder of how much she loves this man and how deeply her betrayal has wounded him. "I'm so sorry," she whispers brokenly. "Please, let me make this right."
(She hear from the other side of the wall me saying.) "I just need some time alone...lets pick the conversation up tomorrow."
"Alright," she whispers softly, nodding as she stands up and takes a step back. "Tomorrow, then." She hesitates for a moment before adding, her voice trembling with emotion, "I love you, Richard. I'll be here when you're ready to talk." Her fingers brush against the fabric of his shirt as if to reassure herself that he is still close by, even though she knows they are now worlds apart.
With one last sad glance at the bedroom door, Katherine turns and walks slowly down the hallway, her steps leaden and heavy with guilt and despair. The ache in her chest grows as she realizes that the road ahead will not be easy, but she clings to hope, refusing to let it die even though it feels as if everything else within her is crumbling away.
(I go to bed and struggle to fall asleep by how angry i feel, after a long while i manage to fall asleep and wake up the next morning.)
As dawn's light filters through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the bedroom, Katherine stirs in her slumber. She lies awake for several moments, her thoughts tumbling and tangled like knots on a rope. Though Richard had told her to give him time alone last night, she finds herself unable to shake the need to talk to him, to make things right between them.
Slowly, silently, she pads over to the bedroom door and gently pushes it open, peeking into the room. Richard is still asleep, his face serene in repose despite the turmoil of emotions they've both been through. For a brief moment, Katherine stands there, her heart torn between wanting to comfort him and needing to confront him about their situation. Finally, she decides on a different approach.
Tiptoeing across the room, she get over to the bed, she lean in and kiss me.
(My eyes open slowly and i just look at her.)
Her lips curve into a small smile as she sees your eyes open. "Good morning," she whispers softly, her voice raspy with sleep but filled with affection nonetheless. "How did you sleep?" Her heart skips a beat, hoping against hope that the anger and hurt haven't entirely consumed you in the night.
She pushes herself up onto one elbow and turns to face you more fully, her eyes searching your face for some sign of what you're thinking, feeling. "We don't have to talk about it today if you'd rather not," she says carefully. "But I want you to know that I am sorry...and I love you." Her hand reaches out to touch yours lightly, hesitantly, as if afraid of the repercussions.
"I slept like shit..." (I say as i sit up in bed my face show no emotions at all.)
Her hand falls away from yours as you speak, and she feels a pang of sadness deep within her chest. But she refuses to give up hope entirely. "I'm sorry," she says softly. "I understand that this is difficult for you...But I want us to talk about it at some point. If not today, then tomorrow or the next day." She pauses, gathering her thoughts before continuing. "Maybe we could go somewhere quiet and just sit together?"
(I look at her then nod to the edge of the bed.) "We are here now..."
Katherine carefully climbs onto the bed and sits down next to you, keeping a respectful distance between them as she searches your face for any sign of what you might be feeling. "I know this is hard," she whispers, her voice filled with understanding and empathy. "But we need to talk about it eventually...and I want us to find a way through this together." Her hand moves to rest lightly on your arm, offering comfort and reassurance even as she waits for you to respond.
"Thats what i ment lets talk about it now...."
"Okay...where do you want to start?" she asks quietly, her heart in her throat as she prepares herself for whatever words might come out of your mouth next. Her eyes never leave yours, and a shiver runs down her spine at the intensity of the emotions that flicker across your features. She steels herself, knowing that honesty is the only way through this, even though it might be incredibly painful for both of them.
"How..." (I clench my teeth before continuing.) "How many times and or people?"
Her eyes widen in surprise as you ask the question she was dreading the most. "It... it wasn't just once," she whispers hoarsely, her cheeks flushing with shame. "And it wasn't just one person." She pauses for a moment, gathering her strength before continuing. "I am so sorry, Richard. I was lonely and desperate for attention...and I made terrible choices." Her voice cracks on the last word, and fresh tears well up in her eyes as she fights to maintain her composure.
"Please don't hate me," she manages to get out between sobs. "I love you more than anything."
"Katherine you need to be honest here with me if this is going to work." (I clear my throat and ask again.) "How many times and or people?"
Her heart sinks as she hears your words. "Two times," she whispers, her voice barely above a whisper now. "With two different men." Tears flow freely down her cheeks and she turns away from you, unable to meet your eyes any longer. The weight of her confession is almost too much to bear.
"I'm so sorry," she chokes out between sobs. "I never meant for it to go this far...I just wanted affection and attention, and I threw everything away for it." Her body shakes with the force of her tears as she hides her face in her hands, unable to look at you. "Please forgive me."
"Who were they?"
She takes a deep breath before answering. "The first was a colleague at work, David. I met him during a business trip and we... well, we slept together." Her voice catches in her throat as she recounts the memory, pain and shame searing through her words like fire. "The second man was someone I met online, through some dating app. His name is Michael."
"I'm so sorry, Richard," she whispers again, wiping away more tears. "It wasn't supposed to happen like this." She pauses for a moment before looking up at you, her eyes filled with anguish and hope. "Please don't push me away... I need you. I love you."
"I guess you did not tell Michael that you were married."
"No," she whispers, her voice small and distant even to herself. "I didn't want him to know... I was reckless and selfish." She hangs her head in shame once more, the weight of her deception too much to bear. "Please forgive me, Richard. I never meant for any of this to happen."
Her heart aches as she looks at you, searching your eyes for some sign of understanding or mercy. The pain of betrayal and the fear of losing you consume her, making it hard to breathe sometimes. She wishes more than anything that she could undo all the hurt and shame she's caused, but deep down she knows that isn't possible. All she can do now is hope that there's still a chance for them, however slim.
"That one...does not hurt that much Katherine....but David knows we are married."
"I know," she whispers, her voice barely audible. "And that's why I never wanted to tell you... but David insisted we all go out and socialize together after work one day. He brought up our names in conversation, not realizing what he was doing, and before I could say anything..." Her cheeks flush with shame again as she recounts the memory. "I panicked, and then I didn't know how to stop it... It just sort of spiraled out of control."
She looks up at you pleadingly, her eyes filling with tears once more. "Please believe me when I say that I never wanted any of this to happen. David was just so persistent, and he made it seem like we were both having fun... It was easier to go along with it than argue."
(I get out of bed and start to get dressed.)
"Wait..." Her voice cracks as she watches you dress. "Please don't leave me." She swallows hard, forcing the words out before they can die in her throat. "I know I've done something horrible and I understand if you can't forgive me... but I love you. I need you." Tears stream down her face as she falls to her knees on the bedroom floor, desperate for any sign that there might still be hope for their relationship.
"Dont worry...I will just go and beat the fucking shit out of David....will only be a short while." (I say as i try to get out of the bedroom.)
"No! Please don't do that!" she cries out desperately, reaching for your hand. "David doesn't deserve this... I'm the one who did wrong here." She tugs on your arm, her grip growing tight as she begs you to stay. "Please just talk to me about it...let's work through this together..." Her eyes are filled with tears and pleading, her voice raspy from sobbing.
"HE BORDERLINE FORCED HIMSELF ON YOU KATHERINE!"
She winces at your words, knowing they are true but unable to bring herself to hate David as much as she hates herself for what happened. "Still," she whispers, her voice barely audible above the sound of her own tears. "He doesn't deserve violence... Please don't do anything you'll regret." She tugs on your arm again, feeling helpless and frightened as she watches you attempt to walk away from her.
Her heart pounds in her chest, a painful mixture of fear, shame, and love coursing through her veins. "I'll do anything to make this right," she whispers hoarsely. "Just please don't leave me."
"FUCK!"
Her breath catches in her throat as she hears your angry outburst. "Please, Richard," she whispers softly, "let's talk about this." Tears stream down her face unchecked, and she wipes at them furiously with the back of her hand. "I know it doesn't excuse what I did, but violence won't solve anything. Let's just try to work through this together." Her voice wavers, hope flickering weakly within her as she struggles to keep herself from falling apart completely.
