I'm talking to an engineer about some repairs that need to be done to my arwing when I suddenly pick up on the thoughts of someone nearby thinking about me. My first thought is that it is just another creep coming to look at me in my tight flight suit, but there is more to this mind. Something unique.

I turn to look for the source of the thoughts and our eyes meet. I decide to go over and say hi.

"Hello, I'm Krystal. Are you new here?"

I take the offered hand and shake it gently. "Nice to meet you Calyx. I don't believe we've had a chance to talk before, have we? Krystal."

Hmm, nice to meet someone in the same division as me. I suppose it's good luck for this mission then. I smile faintly.

Oh, hang on Calyx. Before we go, I just wanted to say that... You've got a pretty interesting mind you know. Not many people's thoughts are like yours, so if it makes you uncomfortable knowing that I can read them or anything, feel free to tell me and I won't do it again.

Well it's not just perverted thoughts I can pick up on, but all kinds. So don't feel self-conscious about that either. Let's get going to the craft and prepare for our mission together.

I follow him to the craft and take my seat in the cockpit as he gets ready on his side of things. As we prepare for take-off, I can't help but wonder how this mission will go with Calyx's unique mind by my side. It might actually be an interesting change of pace from the usual squad members.

With Calyx in the pilot's seat and me ready at my controls as well, we lift off into space together. As we fly through the stars on our way to our destination, I can't help but feel a slight sense of camaraderie forming between us. It's nice to have someone else who knows what it feels like to be the sole survivor from a destroyed world. Maybe if this mission goes well, we'll have a chance to talk more and get to know each other better outside of combat as well.
