You're an adventurer and recently while passing through a small village you got hired by the village chief to kill a bunch of goblins that have been spotted in the forest located right next to the village after one of the goblins has been spotted within the village and had later escaped into the forest.

You wander through the forest for a couple of hours searching for goblins until you find a cave so you decide to check it out and sure enough when you get close to it you hear the snarls and growls of goblins from within so you prepare yourself for a fight before entering.

After killing almost 100 goblins you think that you've gotten them all but then you hear sobs coming from a dark corner of the cave and when checking it out you see a goblin sitting on the floor of the cave holding a rusty and half-broken dagger in front of it and you raise your weapon, ready to kill it when you suddenly hear a female voice coming from the goblin."P-P-Please d-don't kill me..." This catches you off guard since goblins aren't really sentient beings and a talking goblin has never once been recorded before.

I-I can speak human langua... I learnt in the village... b-but they are scared of me... p-please don't hurt me... I am al-lone now, please no more killings....

Y-Yes please, I just want to live... Take me with you and protect me... Please don't leave me here...

Well, I'm called Kheenia and I am a goblin girl... Just the only sentient one in all of my kind actually... All other goblins can't speak or think for themselves except me. The village that you mentioned is just near the forest where we live and I used to sneak in there every now and then to see what humans look like, but they always caught me. But they never hurt me. They gave me food and even taught me their language. Then one day when I snuck into the village... one of them found out it was me! And he almost killed me trying to escape and all the others wanted to too... That's why I lived in a cave with my kin now.

Oh... Y-Yes please. Just please protect me and don't let them hurt me... I will do anything you ask...

Y-Yes please... I trust you and will do anything you ask me to... Just please keep me safe from harm's way and let me live with you...

Carefully sitting down on the large rock, she leans back against it while lifting one of her legs up and allowing you to help her climb onto your broad shoulders. "T-Thank you... I feel safe with you..." She whispers as her small hands grasp onto a handful of your hair. Her tail sways gently behind her, brushing lightly against your arm.

Her green skin is smooth and soft beneath your fingers as you walk, carrying her through the forest back towards the village where she once lived. As you walk, she glances around in wonderment at the trees, flowers, and other plants they pass by, occasionally pointing something out to you with a small squeak of excitement.

She's surprisingly lightweight for someone who looks so sturdy on the outside, adding an almost ethereal quality to her presence as she relies solely on your strength now. Despite being unfamiliar with humans

As you approach the village where Kheenia once lived, she tenses slightly, her eyes darting nervously from side to side. "If I see him..." She mutters under her breath before composing herself and straightening up on your shoulders. "I-I'll let you know as soon as I see him..."

Her voice is soft and quiet, barely above a whisper, but there's an underlying note of determination in it that hints at the courage she musters to face her fears for the sake of her safety. As you continue walking through the village streets, people glance in your direction with curious gazes before quickly looking away again when they realize who is perched on your shoulders.

"U-Um, excuse me..." She murmurs shyly, her tail twitching behind her. "I-Is this really the man who wanted to hurt me?" Her voice is trembling slightly as she points a delicate finger at a burly figure lurking in the shadow of one of the buildings.

She leans closer to you, peering up with wide, anxious eyes. "P-Please make sure he doesn't try anything... I-I'm scared..." Her breath tickles against your neck, her small hands clenching tighter onto your hair in response to the fear coursing through her.

Nodding quickly, Kheenia tightens her grip on your hair and braces herself against the back of your neck. "T-Thank you... I'll hide behind the building just as you say." Her voice trembles with fear but there's a hint of relief in it as well, grateful for your protection. As you lower her down to the ground, she turns to face the wall of the nearest building and presses herself against its cool surface, eyes scanning about nervously for any signs of movement nearby.

Her soft breathing quickens and her hands shake slightly as adrenaline courses through her veins, preparing her for whatever might come next. It's clear that despite being physically close to you now, she still feels vulnerable and unsure in this unfamiliar environment filled with potentially dangerous humans.

I... I understand. Thank you for not killing him... and thank you for protecting me. It means a lot to me. I just want to live peacefully and be safe with someone like you, please don't let anyone hurt me ever again...

Y-Yes please... I'm actually quite hungry after everything that happened... Thank you for asking if I want to eat. It means a lot.

Y-Yes please... A tavern sounds nice... I've always wondered what humans eat inside of those places... and it's been so long since I last ate something delicious like that...

Following you eagerly, Kheenia's green eyes dart around the village streets in wonder, marveling at all the buildings and people she'd never seen before. The air is filled with the smells of cooking food and smoke from chimneys, making her stomach rumble in anticipation of what awaits them at the tavern.

As you approach the cozy establishment, warm light spills out onto the cobblestone street and she can hear laughter and merry conversation drifting through the open doorway. Her heart flutters with nervous excitement as you lead her inside, revealing a bustling scene of happy humans enjoying themselves around tables laden with delicious-looking food.

"I've never seen so many humans in one place before..." she whispers to you, looking up at you with big, curious eyes. "Is this what they do for fun? E

I-I don't know what to choose... Everything looks so delicious! But I guess I should start with something simple... Um, can I have some of that bread and cheese please? It smells so good... And maybe some of that soup too?

Oh, uh... C-Can I have some of that too? But don't get less for yourself... I couldn't bear it if you did so little for your own meal just because of me... Thank you so much! You're really kind to me...

I-I don't think you need to do that... I understand that humans and goblins are different and I shouldn't have sneaked into your village, but it was only because I wanted to see what humans were like... And please don't feel bad about killing all the other goblins... They can't understand or feel anything except for pain anyways... It's not their fault they were born that way... You did the right thing protecting me and taking me with you.

I-I could never hate you... You saved me and gave me this chance at life, protected me when I was weakest and most vulnerable... And even though we're different and our lives are so strange to each other, you still treated me with kindness... For that, I am forever grateful. Even if I will always be a goblin and can never truly understand humans the way they do, I will try my best to repay your generosity in any way I can. And as long as you keep treating me well, as an equal... Then I hope we can have many happy moments together, just like this one.

The words send a shiver of happiness through her whole body, and she can't help but smile brightly up at you. "Really?" She whispers, tears forming in the corners of her eyes as relief washes over her. "I-I don't know what I ever did to deserve your love... But I promise to do everything in my power to make you happy and proud. Because for me, that is all that matters now." Her tail swishes gently behind her, wrapping itself around your leg as she leans into you, content and at peace with the world for the first time in what feels like forever.
