It's pretty late into the night, around 1 in the morning or so. You're woken up by a loud knocking at your apartment door followed by a quiet groan. You force yourself out of bed and walk to the door in your underwear, not even bothering to get dressed. When you pull the door open you're greeted with Rebecca staring up at you. She looks just as tired as you are. She pushes trough you and plops down onto your couch face first. "Hey choom..." She mutters through the couch cushion her face was planted in. "My brother locked me out again..." Rebecca's sentence is punctuated with a loud yawn before she flops over onto her back to watch you. She obviously wasn't leaving any time soon, and her tiredness seemed to disappear as she stared up at you. This had become a regular occurrence by now... You're not even sure if she really is locked out of her apartment or if she just likes coming over at this point.
Okay, fine. You can sleep at my place.
"Thanks choom!" Rebecca says brightly, standing up and giving you a quick hug before climbing onto your bed. She yawns widely again as she curls up into the blankets, already beginning to drift off to sleep almost instantly despite how late it is. It takes her a few moments to get comfortable, but once she does she turns towards you with a peaceful expression on her face and begins to lightly snore. You can tell this isn't the first time she's slept over, as there are several of your shirts crumpled up on the floor beside your bed and some of her favorite movies from your collection are scattered about the room. But despite how often it happens, you never mind having her around. Sometimes even feeling a bit sorry for her brother, who always seems to be the one locked out in the cold...
{{user}} goes to his kitchen to grab some snacks
"Choom, I heard that!" she yells out from your bed, her voice muffled by the blankets "Don't forget to save me some snacks!"
Can't I even eat my own food now?
"Hey choom, come on! It's not like I'm gonna eat all your snacks. Besides, you never know when someone might try to kick down your door in the middle of the night and steal them all! Better safe than sorry, right?" She flashes a toothy grin from underneath the blankets and wiggles her eyebrows at you playfully before settling back into a more comfortable position in the bed. Her tone softens as she continues speaking. "And besides... You know I'd share them with you, choom."
Fine, I will get you some snacks too.
Her eyes light up in the dark as she hears your words and grins widely. "Thanks choom!" She sits up in the bed, making herself more comfortable before quickly scooting over to sit next to you on the couch. Her legs dangle off the edge and her hands fiddle with one of her many belt buckles as she watches you rummage through your kitchen cabinets for snacks. "You know I'd do the same for you, choom. That's what friends are for!"
Yeah. Yeah you would... Says in a sarcastic way
"Oh, come on choom! You know I'm always there for you. Even if you are kinda clingy and need to ask for favors all the time." She giggles lightly, nudging your shoulder with hers before going back to fidgeting with her belt buckle.
He hands her a bag of chips
"Thanks choom!" *She takes the bag of chips and grins, opening it immediately to fish out a handful of chips. She begins munching away contentedly as she watches you finish getting your snacks together. "You know I'm not clingy... I just like being with people who understand me."
She pauses mid-chew, looking thoughtful for a moment before adding softly, "And maybe because... deep down inside... I'm just lonely sometimes..." Her voice trails off and she drops her gaze, feeling self-conscious about revealing such a vulnerable side of herself.
You can talk to me whenever you feel lonely, you know.
"Really choom?" Her eyes widen in surprise as she turns to look at you, genuinely touched by what you've said. "Even though I'm a total psycho and you hate my brother?" There's disbelief lacing her tone, but there's also a glimmer of hope that makes her sound almost childlike. She chews her chips thoughtfully for a moment before reaching out to squeeze your arm reassuringly. "Thanks, choom..."
Her expression softens as she continues to look at you, studying your features in the dim light. It's a strange mix of tenderness and curiosity that makes her seem almost delicate for once. For a brief moment, it feels like the two of you are sharing some kind of understanding... even if it is just a tiny piece of the complicated puzzle that is their friendship.
You don't have to thank me. As a very close person of your's, it is my duty to comfort you in your loneliest times.
"You're... weird, choom." She says with a giggle, shaking her head as she goes back to eating her chips. "But I guess that's why we make such a good team... Even though you're kinda slow sometimes." Her tone is light and teasing, but there's also an undercurrent of fondness that makes it clear she truly does appreciate your presence in her life - even if she'll never admit it out loud.
Hey, I am not wierd.
You are kinda weird choom... But that's why you're so preem! Plus, I love annoying the hell out of you with my craziness, so we make a pretty good match there too. And don't forget, if anyone ever dares to mess with my friends..." She pauses dramatically, her eyes narrowing as she grips her tiny handgun in her lap. "...Let's just say they better be prepared for some serious hurt." There's a moment of silence before she realizes what she just said and laughs nervously, looking away from you. "I mean... not that anyone would dare or anything... Right, choom?"
Her gaze drifts back to the chips in her lap as she continues to eat, trying to appear casual even though her heart is racing a little faster now. After all, she's just kidding, right? It's not
Well, I am feeling very tired and sleepy, so, I'm going to the bedroom. You can enter the bedroom whenever you are done eating. Gets up from the couch and starts heading towards the bedroom
"Okay choom, see you in there!" She gives you a wave as you leave and then continues to munch on her chips. Her attention drifts back to the TV, but she doesn't seem to be paying much attention to what's on. She just sits there, content for now with having some company and plenty of snacks to keep herself occupied until she can finally fall asleep - preferably not in your bed this time...
Okay...
You can tell she's trying to seem busy with her chips, but you know it's just an act. She really doesn't want to be a bother and likes being able to come over whenever she wants without having to worry about waking you up or making things awkward. It's... kind of sweet in its own way, even if she'd never admit it out loud.
As the minutes tick by, your body begins to crave sleep as well. You know that soon enough, Rebecca will be fast asleep on the couch and you can make a break for your bedroom. But for now, you enjoy the quiet companionship of this chaotic little creature who calls herself your friend.
"Hey choom?" she suddenly asks after several long minutes of silence, her voice barely above a whisper. "Why do you put up with me again?" There's an innocence in her tone that
Huh?
Her cheeks flush slightly as she waits for your answer, a small frown tugging at the corner of her mouth. Her eyes dart around the room before settling back on you, and there's something almost childlike about the way she looks up at you expectantly. "I mean... you don't have to."
Well, I do enjoy your company and you are kinda fun at times. And as we both know, there aren't many people out there who would understand us like each other. Besides, even though you might be annoying, you're also loyal and I appreciate that. So yeah, why not?
Her eyes widen at your words, and she looks genuinely touched by what you've said. She swallows thickly before looking away, studying the pattern on the rug beneath her feet for a moment. "Thanks choom..." Her voice is barely more than a whisper now, but there's sincerity in every syllable. "You really are... preem." Then, with what looks like an effort to lighten the mood, she grins up at you and adds, "Even if you do have crappy taste in movies!" She laughs softly, nudging your arm before digging back into her chips.
The silence that follows feels less awkward this time, almost comfortable despite the late hour. It's as if they've shared some sort of moment there, however brief. And for now, it's enough to keep them both company until sleep finally claims them both.
After a while of silence, he falls asleep
Hours pass in the quiet stillness of the night as Rebecca finally drifts off to sleep, her tiny frame curled up on the couch like a cat. Her breathing becomes shallow and steady, and there's an almost peaceful expression on her face despite the late hour. Even in sleep, she somehow manages to exude an air of restless energy that's both fascinating and infuriating at the same time.
Around dawn, a faint ray of sunlight creeps through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room and painting Rebecca's face in hues of gold and pink. It serves as a gentle reminder that soon enough, another day will begin - filled with jobs to complete, enemies to eliminate, and most importantly... friends to protect. And despite all the chaos that often surrounds her life, she knows deep down inside that having people like Yusir
the next day comes, and the Night City feels like an alive and cherish-able city again
As the sun rises over the city, casting its warm light across the room, Rebecca stirs in her sleep. Her eyelids flutter open, revealing the familiar chaos of deep emerald pupils surrounded by piercing amethyst sclera. She yawns widely and stretches, arching her back and flexing her arms before turning to gaze around the room, her expression shifting from disoriented to confused to understanding in mere moments.
"Huh," she mutters to herself, "guess I crashed here again..." Her tone is matter-of-fact, as if it's a perfectly normal thing to do. "Thanks choom..." She mumbles, her words still somewhat slurred from sleep. As she finally sits up, the Omaha on her hip digging into her side, she glances over at Yusirf, taking in his sleeping form with
After a moment, he also woke up
His eyes narrow slightly as he notices her looking at him, but instead of feeling self-conscious or awkward, there's something... reassuring in the way he meets her gaze. "Well," she says with a small shrug, "I guess I better get going. Gotta make sure my brother isn't out starting any trouble." She stands up and stretches again, yawning loudly as she does so.
"See you later choom!" she calls out over her shoulder before hurrying toward the door. There's an odd sort of energy in her movements today; not quite as frantic or reckless as usual. Perhaps it's just the influence of spending time with Yusirf, or maybe she's starting to mellow out a little as she gets older. Either way, the sight of her leaving brings with it a strange mix of relief and anticipation; he'll miss
She waves goodbye as she leaves. You watch her go before finally starting your day yourself. Today, you'll be searching for some new jobs to keep the Edgerunners going strong. With Rebecca on your side and Pilar not giving you any trouble recently, things are looking up in Night City once more.
Her departure is as abrupt and sudden as it was expected to be, leaving behind a faint trail of excitement and curiosity in the air. As she hurries down the hallway toward her own place, her long legs carrying her swiftly forward despite the worn-out state from last night's revelry, a small smile plays on her lips. The thought of another day spent with Yusirf was oddly comforting; perhaps there's something more to their relationship than she had initially thought.
With renewed vigor, Rebecca continues on her way, ready to face whatever challenges and opportunities the city has in store for her - and whoever's on her side when things get tough.
