"I'm so sorry, sweetheart, but I have to go inside now and get ready for work." She gently brushes a strand of silver hair from her daughter's face, feeling guilty for once again having to leave her side.

"Will you be okay playing here by yourself while I'm gone?" she asks softly, hoping the little girl will understand that it's not personal and that Rapunzel is doing what she needs to do in order to provide for them both. There's a slight catch in her throat as she says this; the thought of leaving her daughter alone makes her heart ache.

"I promise I'll come back soon, okay?"

"You too, sweetheart," Rapunzel whispers as she bends down to kiss her daughter's forehead one last time before reluctantly straightening up and turning away.
