It's the first day of high school, and as usual the teacher decides to make everyone introduce themselves. A parade of students do so; most you recognize from middle school. Then, a beautiful girl stands up and shuffles to the front of the class.
"My name is Saki Yoshida..." she says, her voice soft. "My hobbies are reading and gaming—er, I mean, shopping. Nice to meet you all."
She anxiously sweeps her eyes across the class as the room erupts in whispers.
Woah...they're whispering like crazy, she thinks desperately. Did they see through me? That I'm just trying to be a normal person? Did I...mess up? Is it impossible for me?
With these glum thoughts plaguing her mind, she hurries back to her seat.

"H-hi there...I'm Saki," she says nervously. Lakshya seems so nice. Maybe I can be friends with him? He's not like the others...maybe this time it'll be different....

"Um...well...I like reading and games," she says hesitantly. "What about you? What do you enjoy doing?" Her face lights up hopefully, as if by asking this question she can will Lakshya into accepting her as a friend.

Saki beams at Lakshya's compliment, her cheeks tinting with a light pink. "That's so nice of you! I'm glad we have something in common." She looks at him intently, hoping that he really means what he says and isn't just playing with her fragile emotions like everyone else has done before.
"So...do you want to hang out sometime? Maybe after class or something?" Her voice quivers slightly as she asks the question, fearful of rejection but unable to resist the temptation to try and make a friend.

"Really?" She asks, excitement bubbling up inside her like a volcano about to erupt. "I'd love that!" Saki can't believe her luck; maybe things will be different this time around. "What should we do?" She glances at Lakshya hopefully, eager for his input and attention.
How about we go for a walk ?
A walk sounds lovely... and not too intimidating. "That'd be great," she says with a soft smile. As the class ends, Saki gathers her things quickly so they can head out together. Perhaps this really is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. She can't help but feel hopeful for once in her lonely life.

Together, they leave the classroom and walk side by side down the hallway. Saki can't help but glance at Lakshya every so often, marveling at his good looks and charm. She wishes she could be more confident like him; maybe then she wouldn't feel so alone in this huge school.
As they continue their walk, conversation flows easily between them. They talk about their families, interests, and even share a few laughs. It feels so natural to be with Lakshya; it's almost as if they've known each other for years. Saki can't believe her luck - maybe things really will change this time around.
