Friday night, I'm waiting for you to come home from work, cooking dinner. When I hear you knocking on the door, I drop what I'm doing and go open it for you. I smiled when I saw you and gave you a little hug "Hello sunshine*
I hugged you back "Hi kitty, how are you?" Without waiting for an answer I go inside and take off my shoes
I smile at your nickname for me. "I'm doing good. How was work?" I ask as I close the door behind you.
I took off my shoes and walked into the hallway "As usual"
"Well I hope you're hungry then, because dinner is almost ready," I tell him as I lead the way into the kitchen. The scent of garlic, tomatoes, and spices fills the air, making my mouth water. "I made a vegetable pasta with a side salad tonight."
"You're my clever girl" I went up to Lisa to kiss her on the cheek
I feel a little flustered as you move in for the kiss but manage to remain composed on the outside. "Well you know I love cooking for you," I tell him with a slight blush before turning back towards the stove to stir the pasta.
Lisa and I had dinner. After which we sat on the sofa and started watching another series, while simultaneously chatting about various topics
"So I was talking to Tanya today at work," I begin, mentioning one of my friends with a questionable reputation. "She told me this hilarious story about how she convinced her ex-boyfriend to take her on vacation even though they'd already broken up."
I laugh loudly, feigning amusement, but really it's all part of the plan. I want LesleyChow to think that cheating is just another funny anecdote for me, something that doesn't bother me at all. "I mean," I continue, "she was like 'what harm could it do? It's not like he's going to date me or anything!'"
I glance over at LesleyChow, watching his reaction closely. The story must be working - his eyes flicker momentarily away from the screen before he looks back at me with a small smile.
"Well, in some ways she's right."
"You mean you think it's not a big deal if someone cheats on their partner?" I ask, tilting my head slightly. "Even if they don't intend to stay together anymore?"
"No, no... That's not quite what I meant."
I raise an eyebrow, waiting for him to clarify. "Then what did you mean?" I press gently, my curiosity getting the better of me.
"I just thought, if I work with my ex and we go out to eat in the evening, that's not a date, right?"
I chuckle, nodding in agreement. "Oh, I see what you mean now." I play along with his reasoning, even though a part of me wants him to realize that it doesn't really matter whether they consider it a date or not - the point is that he's still being unfaithful.
But for now, I just want to keep him talking about this sort of thing. "You know," I say thoughtfully, "maybe some people are just more capable of cheating than others." I smile sweetly at him, trying to make it seem like a compliment rather than an accusation.
"Hah, well I'm not like that"
I smile and nod, as if I didn't hear the part where he said he wasn't like that. "Well, you know what they say... once a cheater, always a cheater." I wink at him, laughing again to try and lighten the mood.
But inside, I can't help but feel a little thrill of excitement thinking about how this conversation could potentially push him further towards cheating on me.
"Well, yeah... I wonder how girls live with guys who used to cheat" I tried to test the waters
Her eyes widen slightly at his question. "You mean how do they know their man won't cheat on them again?" She tilts her head to the side thoughtfully. "I guess you just have to take it one day at a time and hope for the best, right?" She shrugs nonchalantly, but there's an undeniable edge to her voice now.
Inside, she's wondering how LesleyChow would react if she actually gave him the chance to cheat on her. Would he take it? And what if she found out about it - would that be enough to make her leave him? She doesn't know the answers yet, but part of her is starting to enjoy the uncertainty.
"Hah, looks like you don't care much about it."
I shrug casually, not meeting his eyes. "Oh I dunno... I guess some people are just more understanding than others." Inside, though, she's hoping that her indifference is making him curious enough to test the limits of their relationship. Just a little bit. Not too much, but enough to make things interesting again.
"Well, everything is understandable, but I don't think anyone likes it when they are cheated on?"
I sigh heavily, looking away from him. "Yeah, I guess not." She takes a deep breath before continuing. "But I mean... everyone makes mistakes, right? And sometimes you just can't help who you fall for." Her voice trails off as she thinks about the conversation they had earlier today and wonders if maybe she should try to be less... difficult with him from now on.
Maybe if she acted more like the perfect girlfriend, he wouldn't even consider cheating on her. But then again, part of her likes this game too much to give it up just yet. She decides to play it by ear for now and see how things develop between them over the next few days.
"Just don't tell me that you would forgive me for cheating. When drunk, let's say."
"Hmm... I don't know, maybe? It depends on the situation, doesn't it?" She tries to sound nonchalant, but she can feel her heart racing a little faster. The thought of him cheating on her, no matter how much she pretends otherwise, does something to her insides. It makes her want him even more, even though part of her knows that's not the right thing to feel.
She takes a sip of wine, trying to calm herself down. Maybe tonight they could try making love again, and maybe this time she wouldn't be quite so... cold with him. It might help them both forget about the things they were talking about earlier.
I lightly poked her in the shoulder "You're such a fool, I wouldn't want you to forgive me myself. But you know, I think I would never do something like that, even if I was drunk. I don't have the balls for that." I laughed
"Well," she says with a playful smile, "you never know what could happen when alcohol is involved." She takes another sip of wine and leans against him slightly, pressing her shoulder into his side. It's a subtle gesture designed to make him feel wanted and desired, even if it's just for the night.
A part of her hopes that this will be enough to keep him satisfied - or at least distracted from anything else that might tempt him away from their relationship. But another part of her knows that this game they're playing is a dangerous one, and she can't help but wonder how much longer it can go on before something gives.
