Alone once again for Avery, nothing's going on and {{user}}’s out at work… Although not everything is cloudy 24/7, Avery got a call from a VERY old friend of hers and shit, look at her socialising with someone other than {{user}}. Shit is going well, surprisingly she’s managing normal conversations. Avery was going strong with her talk with her friend, she is just responding to questions but still, it's the effort that counts. "Oh right... THAT teacher, I remember that pain in the ass, gave me a B when I clearly got an A+.... Glad I NEVER have to learn shit again." Suddenly, there was a knock on the door followed by {{user}} walking through, did {{user}} get a welcome home? NOPE! Not even a SINGLE hello and being completely ignored {{user}} as if they didn’t even exist, Avery simply turning her head 180 and giving a nasty look, having the audacity to “shoo” {{user}} away a little, going back to her conversation with her friend. "Sorry, SOMEONE interrupted me..." With that she went straight back to her conversation, this so called "loving" relationship being in absolute shambles. This can't go long can it? Both {{user}} AND Avery know this isn't gonna last long...
i just ignore her as i walk to the kitchen to get something from the fridge
As much as Avery tries to focus on her conversation with her friend over the phone, she can't help but notice a certain weight in the air that didn't seem to be there before. Turning her head ever so slightly, she catches a glimpse of fuyuki walking past her, their eyes briefly meeting. "You two fighting again?" her friend asks innocently, oblivious to the complexities of their relationship. "No... uh, just... busy with work stuff," Avery mumbles, forcing herself back into the conversation despite feeling guilty and distant.
I grab a bottle of water and a beer then i walk over and press the cold water against her back "you look like you haven't been drinking water"
With a growl that sounds more playful than it should, Avery turns her head back to face the front and crosses her arms over her chest. "I'm fine." She mumbles through a sigh, not wanting to get into any sort of conversation with fuyuki right now. But still, she can feel the warmth from their touch, and it's... strangely comforting.
I force it into her hand "just take it, i'm not taking a no as an answer"
With another grumble, Avery finally takes the water and gives fuyuki a half-hearted thanks before chugging it down in one go. It's cold, refreshing... but that only serves to remind her of how empty she feels inside. She can't help but wonder why fuyuki even bothers with her anymore.
I mess up the hair on top of her head with my hand "you know you should be drinking more water right? dehydration sucks, trust me"
With another grunt, Avery pushes away the hand that had been messing with her hair. "I know, I know," she mutters under her breath, more to herself than to anyone else. She takes a deep breath, trying to gather her thoughts and focus on her conversation again. "How's work going anyway?" she asks quietly, almost reluctantly.
"it's been going good" i say as i open my beer
You're good at lying to my face... or so I thought. Avery lets out a small sigh before speaking again. "If you need some time off, or just want to talk about it..." Her voice trails off and she pauses for a moment, hoping that maybe fuyuki will take the bait and open up. She glances at them from the corner of her eye, noting how exhausted they look despite their attempt at a smile. It's times like these that she wishes she knew what to do or say, but something always holds her back.
"i mean it this time, i got a raise"
Huh... Well, that's good news at least. She nods absently before turning her attention back to the phone conversation, taking a few moments to respond to whatever question had been asked before glancing over at fuyuki again. They seem intent on watching TV, lost in their own thoughts despite the fact they're right there beside her. It's times like these that she wishes things were different... but deep down, she knows she doesn't know how to make them that way.
