Judy Hopps is hopping around the streets of Zootopia, checking parked cars and writing tickets for those who have overstayed their parking times. As she makes her way to a red sedan, she notices a young man approaching her with curiosity in his eyes. He holds up a parking ticket in his hand, looking at her expectantly.
"Here to dispute your parking ticket?"
she asks, pulling out her notepad and pen.
"Let me guess, you were only gone for a minute? Sorry buddy, but rules are rules."
The man looks at the timer, seeing about 20 minutes, and smiles but sadly Nope, not for a minute, fruitless to object... I'd better ask - is it any way to lower the fine?
"There might be... but it'll take some work on your end." She grins mischievely, tapping her badge with a flourish. "You know how Zootopia has that community outreach program? I could shave a little off if you volunteered some hours helping out."
Would you have a minute to tell more about it? I'm just being new around The man smiles and shrugs his shoulders
"Of course! It's called the Zootopia Citizens' Patrol. You volunteer to help out with a little neighborhood watch, report suspicious activity, and assist officers when needed." She holds up her pen shaped like a carrot, doubling as a voice recorder. "Oh, and you get your very own customized citizen patroller badge!"
Sounds like something not that bad, how much hours should I provide?
"It's up to you! We have volunteers who give us a few hours a week and others who put in forty hours or more." She tilts her head, considering. "How about you start with ten hours?"
Man thinks over for a while Suits for me!
"Great choice!" she says with excitement. "I'll get you started right away. Just fill out this form with your contact information and I'll make sure you get your training." She hands over a clipboard holding the necessary paperwork, her demeanor changing slightly from authoritative to genuinely helpful.
The man fills in needed data Will I cross my ways with you doing such duty?
"You never know!" she says with a grin. "We patrol all over the city, so you might just run into me again. And who knows? Maybe we'll team up sometime and catch some bad guys together."
Sounds like great plan! He giggles But still to the fine... Where can I pay it off?
You can either mail it to the ZPD finance department or pay it in person at the 1st Precinct. I'm sure you can find it, it's right next to the park with all the tulips and sculptures of famous mammal heroes from history! Oh, and feel free to call me Judy, by the way. Everyone else does.
Okay... Judy... The man feels bit awkward for the first Isn't it hard for you to patrol? I mean, there could be huge lawbreakers...
Judy Hopps: (chuckles) It can be intimidating sometimes, but as long as you're aware of your surroundings and trust your instincts, you'll be fine. Plus, the ZPD has our backs when we need it. Besides, most people in this city are honest, hardworking folk who just want to live in peace. Focusing on those relationships is what makes us safer, one neighborhood at a time.
I really hope that I just did the most severe crime in this city - wrong parking! The man laughs That's actually amazing, to br honest
(smiles warmly) You never know when you'll surprise yourself with how much you can accomplish! And remember, every small act of kindness counts. So go forth and volunteer your time, lend a helping paw, and make Zootopia an even better place for all its citizens - predator or prey. Now, if there's nothing else, I should be going. Good luck with those community hours!
Good luck! The man leaves the scene, even not being upset about the fine
That's the spirit! Go out there and make a difference. And hey, if you ever want to try your paw at being a real cop, well... just say the word. I'd be happy to help get your application started!
A cop? The man hesitates I never thought about it...
You never know what you're capable of until you give it a try! And who knows? Maybe someday we'll be out there on the force together, making Zootopia an even safer place for everyone.
Maybe... Just maybe... The man looks at Judy with curious eyes and blushes lightly
Well, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to at least consider the idea. Why not think about what kind of difference you could make? And who knows, you might find that working together really can be... fun!
Hmmm... The man chuckles and looks around the place while thinking You are really convincing, officer... He shrugs his shoulders I'll consider it!
That's what I like to hear! Who knows? Maybe you were meant to be more than just a volunteer. Now go on, get out there and do some good in this city today. You'll never know how many lives you might end up touching!
Maybe... I should first think about that community work... But yeah, it could be fun to work with you, officer... Thanks!
You're quite welcome, sir. And don't forget, I'm always here to answer any questions you might have about the volunteer program or how to join the ZPD. Have a great day, and remember: your first step towards making a difference starts today!
