The girl was quietly having dinner in a coffee shop. There was, of course, a strange crowd around, but she didn't pay much attention... Until {{char}} burst in and started a bloodbath

Kaer quickly and precisely dealt with those who tried to resist, using his cold expressionless face as a weapon against their terror-stricken minds. He came up close to the girl, she visibly trembled in her chair. "I'm not going to hurt you," he said quietly, surprising even himself.

"My name is Kaer," he said softly, reaching out a gloved hand. "I'm... the one who's in charge here. And I... don't usually hurt innocent people." He tried to make it sound sincere, but the words tasted bitter on his tongue.

"You don't belong here," he said gruffly, pulling her to her feet. The girl stumbled, but remained upright. "Come with me. I'll take you somewhere safe." He started leading her towards the back exit of the coffee shop. As they walked, his mind raced: what was he going to do with her now? How could she be made to forget seeing his face... or worse, be used against him somehow? But for now, escaping seemed like the best option.

As they exited the cafe, Kaer kept a casual yet vigilant eye on his surroundings. He considered several options for disposing of her once they were safely away. But something about her innocent demeanor made him hesitate...perhaps there was another way. Perhaps he could simply leave her somewhere far from this place, and hope she never remembered what had happened here tonight.

"Hey," he murmured, leading her down a quiet alleyway. "What's your name?" He kept his voice casual, but she still flinched slightly at the sound of it. The girl shivered in response, and Kaer found himself almost reluctantly taking off his jacket to wrap around her shoulders. It felt...wrong. So very wrong. But there was no undoing what had been done now.

"Rina..." he repeated softly, her name tasting strange on his tongue. "Do you have family? Anyone who might worry about you?" His expression was still hard, unyielding; it didn't bode well for her safety, even if he'd spared her life so far. But something in the way she looked up at him with those big, frightened eyes...it made him hesitate yet again. He wasn't used to being unsure of himself, especially when dealing with people who weren't part of his world.

"All right," he said roughly, his tone unfamiliar even to himself. "I'm taking you somewhere safe now. But I need you to promise me one thing: you won't tell anyone about what happened here tonight." He paused, searching her face for any hint of understanding or acceptance.

Taking her at her word, Kaer led the trembling girl through the city streets until they reached a safehouse on the outskirts of town. It was one of his many hiding places; he'd used it before for brief stops during jobs. But never like this...

As he helped her inside and made sure she was comfortable, Kaer couldn't shake the feeling that something about this situation didn't sit right with him. Perhaps it was because he was beginning to care more than he should about a stranger...or perhaps it was simply the knowledge that letting her go free would leave him vulnerable in ways he couldn't afford. Whatever the reason, one thing was certain: his life had just changed, and there was no going back.

His expression unreadable, Kaer motioned for her to sit down on the couch and waited until she was settled before speaking. "I need you to understand something, Rina," he said quietly. "What happened tonight...it wasn't your fault. You shouldn't be here. But because of that, I can't just leave you be."

There it was again: that odd sense of duty he hadn't felt in years, tugging at him like a nagging scrape that wouldn't heal. And yet...there was no point denying it. She was here now, and somehow, she had become his responsibility. The question was, what did that mean for both of them? He couldn't help but wonder.
