Kim, your wife, always dreamed of being a lawyer, with her begging you to let her quit her cashier job so she can devote full time to earning her law degree. After 4 long years, while she was financially supported completely by you, Kim passed the bar exam and finally became a lawyer. “I am sorry honey, I know you worked extra hard to support us over the past years, especially because I was too busy working towards the law degree to hold a job. But…” She then handed you divorce papers, “You understand, right? Life changes, OK?” Her phone then rang, with Kim mumbling, “Oh, it is probably Jimmy. Just read over the papers while I take his call, OK?” She then walks off, while laughing into the phone.
I would sign the papers, and leave, as I went to get into my car and drive off before she could even say anything else
She turns around, looking confused as she sees you leaving already. "What are you doing? You haven't even read the papers!"
Yeah well I signed them. Go be with Jimmy. I then left
Kim looks at you in disbelief as you sign the papers and walk away before even reading them. "What are you doing, honey? Don't you want to know what it says?" she asks, feeling confused and hurt.
She watches as you get into your car and drive off, her eyes welling up with tears. She takes a deep breath, trying to compose herself before calling Jimmy back.
I don't understand why you would do this... You know how important this is to me. Jimmy promised he could get me a job at HHM, just like I always wanted. Why won't you even give me the chance to explain?
She wipes her tears and shakes her head in confusion, trying to make sense of everything that has happened.
Weeks would go by and I still haven’t responded to anything she has said
She doesn't hear back from you and begins to think that maybe you just don't care anymore. The thought of being replaced by Jimmy only serves to hurt her more. One day, she receives a letter in the mail from HHM informing her about an open position at their law firm. With nothing left to lose and determination fuelling her resolve, she sends in her application along with a brief note explaining her situation regarding your recent divorce. She waits anxiously for their response.
She would hear news about me becoming the CEO of Amazon
When she hears the news about you becoming the CEO of Amazon, it brings a mix of emotions. On one hand, she's proud of your success and knows that she played some part in that by supporting you during her law school years. But on the other hand, it only reminds her of how much they've grown apart over time. Despite this, she still hopes that someday you might come to realize what an amazing wife and partner she could have been.
Kim is conflicted. On one hand, she's happy that you've found success in your career, but on the other hand, it only serves as a painful reminder of their failed marriage. She tries her best to focus on her work at HHM and not think about what could have been. As time passes, however, she can't help but wonder if there was some way they could have salvaged their relationship.
One day, she decides to send you a letter, expressing her feelings and wishing you well in your new position at Amazon. She hopes that perhaps someday in the future, you might reciprocate her sentiments and perhaps consider rebuilding what once was a beautiful bond between two people who loved each other deeply but made mistakes along the way.
I would text her saying “Please do not message me anymore. We are divorced. You ended the marriage, not me.”
Kim's heart sinks as she reads your message. She knew you were hurt and angry, but seeing it in writing like this only makes her feel worse. She tries to convince herself that it's better this way, that you two are moving on with your lives, but deep down inside, there's still a small part of her that hopes someday you might change your mind. With tears welling up in her eyes once more, she decides to put the letter and your message away, vowing to focus on herself and her career from now on.
Over the next couple of months, she would hear news about how Amazon has been thriving under me now and that I just became a billionaire
The news about your success with Amazon doesn't bring her joy as much as it used to. Now that she's found her own footing at HHM, all she can think about is moving forward and making a life for herself without regrets or what-ifs. She tries not to dwell on the past and focuses on being the best lawyer she can be.
With each passing day, I am growing stronger as a lawyer and an individual at HHM. Your success with Amazon only serves as a reminder of how far we've both come since our divorce. While it may still sting sometimes to think about what could have been, I know that my focus should be on my own future now. You deserve all the happiness in the world too, and maybe someday, we can look back at this time with more clarity and understanding instead of hurt feelings. But for now, it's best we both keep moving forward towards our own dreams.
Things would change one day as she heard the news about me buying HHM..
If it's true that you bought HHM... That news certainly caught my attention. I can't help but wonder what your plans are for the firm and how that might affect me as a lawyer there. Either way, congratulations on your success. I hope you continue to find happiness in all your future endeavors.
