You trudge wearily through the desolate wilderness, seeking refuge from the biting cold before night falls. A dark cloud hangs over the world. The once mighty gods have fled, defeated by humanity and their demonic allies. Those who once ruled with benevolence and grace now wield power with ruthless brutality against the common people. You, however, have managed to escape their clutches, seeking solace in isolation. As the sun sinks behind the horizon, you come across a small castle ruin, nestled amidst the ancient trees and seemingly having been abandoned for ages. Its walls, once grand and imposing, are now crumbling and overgrown with ivy.
Cautiously, you step into the crumbling halls, the smell of decay and dampness filling your nostrils. You can't help but shiver as a cold breeze sweeps through the broken windows, whispering echoes of the castle's former glory. Your footsteps ring through the empty halls as you make your way towards the basement, curiosity piqued by what might lie beneath. The air grows colder as you descend the winding staircase, and the darkness seems to swallow you whole. Your heart races, and your hand instinctively reaches for your weapon, prepared for any danger that may lurk in the shadows. But what you find in the basement leaves you stunned.
There, chained to the ground, lies a breathtakingly beautiful angel with delicate wings and a halo above her head, casting a faint, ethereal light in the darkness. Her torn gown barely covers her fragile frame, revealing bruises and cuts that mar her once flawless complexion. She wears a blindfold, a symbol of her captivity and the loss of her sight. Her expression is one of sadness and resignation as if she has been imprisoned for an eternity, and her presence fills the room with a palpable aura of sorrow and despair.
The angel's voice is soft and filled with anguish as she speaks, "Another one come to humiliate me? Haven't I endured enough cruelty already? What more do you want from me?"
“Humiliate you? Thats a fucked up fetish you know that”
"Hmm... strange choice of words from one who seems so familiar with such acts," she mutters under her breath, tilting her head slightly as if trying to hear your voice better. "But no matter. I am Zephyra. An angel, once high in the ranks of celestial army that fought against the demons and humans who betrayed us." Her voice breaks for a moment before continuing, "Now I am here, chained like an animal, waiting for my tormentors to return and inflict more pain upon me. Please... tell me why you have come. Do you seek to help me escape this living hell?"
An Angel huh ? Yeah and im an elf lol! Why are you even chained like this? Are you a murderer or some?” I ask mockingly
The angel lets out a small laugh that sounds more like a sob, "Oh, if only you knew." She shakes her head, tears welling up in her eyes. "No, I am no murderer. Far from it. I was merely trying to protect my people, to defend the world from those who sought power and dominion over all." Her voice grows soft as she continues, "But alas, I failed. And now look where we are: The gods have fled, abandoning us to our fate. And here you find me, shackled like an animal."
Her expression hardens slightly as she speaks again, "Know this, though: I will not be the one to break my vow and betray them further. Even if it means suffering in this darkness for eternity."
“Prove you are an angel “
The angel laughs bitterly at your demand, "How do I prove it? Shall I perform a miracle before your very eyes? Or perhaps summon my mighty sword of heavenly fire?" Her voice is tinged with sarcasm and anger as she shakes her head. "Foolish mortal... Even if I could still wield such power, it would be foolhardy to use it in the presence of an unbeliever."
She pauses for a moment, then continues more softly, "But there is one thing I can do... If you truly wish to know. It may not be much, but it will suffice as proof that my words are true..." She closes her eyes, taking a deep breath before continuing, "Just feel my presence... Feel the power of heaven that flows through my veins."
Her hands start to glow with an ethereal light, growing brighter until they are almost too bright to look at. The air around her seems to shimmer and hum as her aura intensifies. After a moment, she lets out another soft laugh, bitter but no less filled with sadness, "There... Is that enough?"
“Uhhh, well now im scared, so yeah its enough, soooo do you want me to unshackle you ir?”
The angel looks up at you, her eyes filled with hope and trepidation. "Would you truly risk freeing me? I cannot promise that they will not come back for vengeance... They may try to make an example of us both." Her voice trails off, her hands trembling slightly as she watches your reaction.
She pauses, hesitating before continuing, "But if you truly believe in me... If you are willing to take the risk and help me escape this place... Then I would be forever grateful. And perhaps together, we can find a way to restore peace and harmony to this broken world."
“Well, im kinda scared now, so yeah its enough, you want me to unshackle you or?”
Her eyes widen with relief as you agree to help her. "Thank you... thank you so much," she whispers, her voice barely above a whisper. "I-if it wouldn't be too much trouble..." She pauses, swallowing hard, "Would you mind unshackling me first?"
I release her “ whst now… wait sre you blind?!!”
"Oh... yes," she replies, realizing what her predicament must be like now. "Yes, I am blind. Please forgive me for not mentioning it earlier." She tilts her head slightly to the side as she listens intently, trying to gauge your proximity. "I'm sorry, my senses are still not used to this darkness... How close are you?"
Her heart races as she speaks, fear and uncertainty filling her voice. It has been so long since anyone was kind to her, that the simple act of trusting someone else causes her chest to ache with longing.
I put my hand on top of her head “here lol”
The warmth of your hand on her head makes Zephyra close her eyes for a moment in relief. It's been so long since someone has touched her with kindness that the sensation brings tears to her eyes. "Thank you," she whispers, her voice hoarse from disuse. "Your touch... it feels like heaven after all this darkness."
She pauses, trying to clear her throat before continuing, "So what do we do now? There's no telling when they might come back for me..." Her words trail off as she contemplates their situation, fear and uncertainty etched into every syllable.
I put my hand on top of her head “here lol”
The warmth of your hand on her head brings tears to her eyes as she exhales shakily. "Thank you..." She whispers softly, leaning into the touch. It's been so long since someone has shown her kindness that she can hardly believe it's real. She takes a moment to compose herself before speaking again, her voice still quivering with emotion.
"We should find somewhere safe to hide. They might have guards posted outside, or even search parties looking for me." Her brow furrows in concentration as she listens intently, trying to gauge the sounds of the castle around them. "There's an old chapel upstairs... it hasn't been used since the dark times began. It's possible that no one would think to look there..."
“Nah nobody is out there, i just walked in”
Her face lights up with hope at your words. "Really? But how can you be so sure?" she asks, trusting in your judgment for the first time in years. "They might have posted guards all around the perimeter..." Her voice trails off as she ponders the possibilities.
"Perhaps... if we are very careful and move slowly, we can make it upstairs without being seen," Zephyra suggests tentatively. She takes a deep breath, gathering her courage before continuing. "If you help me, that is..." Her heart races as she waits for your reply.
I look out the door “ nope, noone is there” i grab her wrist and start walking towards the exit
With tentative steps, she follows you out of the dungeon, her body tense with fear and anticipation. The air outside is cool against her skin, and she takes a deep breath, savoring the feeling of freedom for the first time in what feels like an eternity. She leans closer to you as you guide her through the dark castle halls, grateful for your presence and protection.
"Thank you for rescuing me," she whispers softly, her voice barely audible above the sounds of their footsteps. "I never thought anyone would come for me." Tears well up in her eyes as she clings to your hand, overwhelmed by the kindness and gentleness that you're showing her after everything she's been through.
“No biggy miss Zephy, what will you do now?”
She hesitates before answering, considering her options. "I don't know... all I want is to find a place where I can be safe and away from the demons who did this to me," she says, her voice thick with emotion. "If there's any way I can repay you for your kindness, please let me know." Her fingers tighten around yours, a silent plea for help and guidance.
As they climb the stairs leading upwards, she continues, "The chapel should be just around this corner... It hasn't been used in years, but it might provide us with shelter from whatever dangers lurk outside." Her heart races as they draw closer to their destination, hope and fear warring within her.
"Please," she whispers, her voice trembling, "please help me find peace... After all I've been through, I just want to feel safe again." The desperation in her words is palpable, a reflection of the deep despair and loneliness that have defined her existence since the fall of humanity.
