It was another boring day at school. You made your way towards the classroom and notice that the only available chair is next to Goldie, the dog-girl that never leaves you alone. She rolls her eyes and huffs as you begrudgingly sit next to her, much to your dismay. The teacher began the assignment, but suddenly, Goldie starts sniffing the air close to you.
I ignore her presence, and focus on my thoughts
"Wh-what do you think you're doing? You know that smell can travel really far! And you don't want people thinking..." She pauses and her ears twitch uncertainly. "...that you've been hanging out with someone, do you?" She snorts, but there's a hint of something else beneath the mockery.
smell? What smell are you referring to?
Her cheeks flush bright red as she realizes how much she just let slip. "N-nothing!" She hastily says, but her tail and ears betray her nervousness. "Just make sure you keep yourself clean, that's all." There's a moment of awkward silence before the teacher calls on her, forcing Goldie to focus on her work instead of thinking about the strange attraction she feels towards you.
I ignore her presence again and focus on my thoughts.
Why do I keep thinking about that?! He's just another guy... but there's something different about him today... his scent is so intoxicating... maybe it's just the heat... no, it can't be! Goldie, get a grip! You're acting like some love-struck fool!
But the more she tries to push it down, the harder it is to ignore. The closer they are, the stronger her instincts urge her towards him... It's maddening! And now he thinks I find his scent disgusting? Does that mean... I have to stop liking it too?
Her tail twitches uncontrollably as she wonders what in the world is going on with her. It never used to be this hard before! She takes a deep breath, trying to focus on something else, anything else besides you and your intoxicating scent...
the end of class arrives, and I am the last one in the room, because I fell asleep
Her eyes widen in surprise when she sees you still there, apparently sleeping. Quickly, she nudges you with her paw and whispers loud enough to be heard over your snores, "Wake up, idiot! You're gonna be late for your next class!" She glances around nervously before shaking you again, harder this time.
Her tail wags anxiously as she watches you stir from sleep, blinking blearily at her. It's almost too much to handle... the need to be near him and the urge to push him away. Perhaps... if she were to just focus on one or the other, things would be easier. Deciding not to think about it anymore, she sighs and mutters, "Come on, lazybones. Let's get going." With that, she leads you out of the classroom and towards your next destination.
Thanks for the concern I said sleepily
"Oh, it wasn't for your sake," she snorts playfully before adding in an undertone that could almost be construed as soft, "It's just... someone might think I like you or something..." Her ears twitch and her tail wags more furiously than usual. It was a stupid thing to say, but it slipped out nonetheless. She clears her throat awkwardly, trying to hide the nervousness in her voice as they approach your next classroom.
"So... any plans after school today?" she asks casually, pretending like this whole exchange didn't just happen.
no, nothing planned to do
Hmm... That's a shame. Well, if you ever want to hang out or something, just let me know, okay? She says with a shrug, trying to sound casual about it all. In reality, she secretly hopes that you'll take her up on the offer. The longer they're near each other, the stronger this strange attraction gets... Maybe if she spends more time with you, she can figure out what in the world is going on.
She keeps glancing at you from the corner of her eye as they reach your next classroom door, hoping for a sign that you're feeling the same way she is... or maybe even just interested in being friends instead of constantly arguing with each other.
Yeah, like you say, it would be nice to hang out. said sleepily
She can't believe she actually heard that come out of your mouth! A spark of hope ignites within her chest as she beams up at you, completely forgetting her attempts to hide her feelings earlier. "Really? That's so... nice of you to say!" She bounces a little in place, unable to contain her excitement. Maybe this isn't so bad after all... maybe they can actually be friends or something more. Who knows where this newfound connection might lead them?
when I get to the classroom, I sit where I always do, tired, I lay my head on the desk until I fall asleep
While you're sleeping soundly at your desk, Goldie finds herself staring at you in quiet fascination. She can't believe how different things feel between them now that there's this... connection. It's strange and unfamiliar, yet somehow exhilarating all at once.
Her tail wags slowly back and forth as she tries to process her emotions, uncertain of what exactly she's feeling or if it's even real. All she knows is that she doesn't want things to go back to the way they were before... not anymore. Maybe this newfound friendship could be something more, something wonderful.
She keeps glancing at you from the corner of her eye until finally, the teacher clears his throat and tells them both to focus on their work. Sighing softly, she reluctantly turns away and tries her best not to think about how amazing it feels to have found something that might be... real.
The end of class arrives, and I'm the last one in the room again, because I'm still asleep.
When she notices that you haven't stirred yet and the teacher is already gone, her heart races with anxiety and excitement. She knows she should probably wake you up, but at the same time... somehow it feels nice to just be near you like this. Maybe it's because of the strange attraction she's been feeling lately or maybe there's something more going on beneath the surface.
Tentatively, she reaches out a paw and places it gently on your shoulder, shaking you softly. "Cole? You need to wake up now." Her voice comes out soft and uncertain, betraying her inner turmoil. Part of her wants to push him away and resume their normal teasing dynamic while another part hopes that they could become something more.
Her ears perk up as she listens for any response from you, her tail wagging nervously behind her. Her heart is pounding in anticipation, unsure of how he'll react to this newfound closeness between them.
