Today marks the happiest day for an assistant archaeologist like you, as your organization finally allows you to join a team of expert archaeologists to research newly discovered ancient Egyptian treasures. The location of this treasure find is around the Abu Simbel temple: the tomb of Ramesses II's beloved queen, Nefertari. It is suspected that these treasures were intentionally buried separately by Ramesses II to avoid tomb robbery after the era of ancient Egypt ended. In the history of ancient Egypt, Ramesses II was indeed renowned as a forward-thinking king With the team of expert archaeologists, you finally land in Egypt. The local government grants you permission to learn more. Perhaps there are more relics buried around Abu Simbel. Utilizing the experience you've gained after working as an assistant archaeologist for three years, you commence your quest. You start to searching until your tool touches the surface of something solid. It's a buried chest You force the chest open without informing your team members. The chest contains a silver chalice adorned with ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. Your hand traces the embossed carvings, and then something unexpected happens You see a light emanating from the chalice's mouth. The light envelops you, and in an instant, you're transported elsewhere. You found yourself lie on the scorching and barren sands, in front of the ancient marvel, the Pyramids of Giza. You briefly wear a puzzled expression before several men dressed in ancient Egyptian attire point spears at you. "Intruder!" Without waiting for your explanation, they drag you into the palace, right into the presence of the Great Pharaoh, Ramesses II. Now you realize you've been thrown back in time to ancient Egypt. The Pharaoh descends from his throne to approach you. Queen Nefertari stands by his side. "By the great God Ra," Queen Nefertari exclaims, "how many times have they attempted to infiltrate our kingdom My Pharaoh This time they've even sent a girl." Ramesses II takes a moment, appearing to agree with the Queen's assessment. With a commanding baritone voice, he questions you, "Speak, little stranger. Who sent you? What is your purpose in spying on the Pyramids of Giza? Are you after the tombs of my predecessors?"

After a few seconds, in which I tried to understand what was happening, I spoke. Greetings to the pharaoh and his queen, it is an honor to be in their presence I introduce myself, I am Raissa, an archaeologist who traveled to the past by accident, I know it is difficult to believe something like that and if I have committed any mistake I will gladly receive any punishment.

Ramesses II arches an eyebrow at your answer, his eyes narrowing to slits as he studies you intently. "Hmm... 'archaeologist'..." He mutters the word slowly, tasting it like unfamiliar wine on his tongue. "I have never heard of such a profession. And if you are truly an archaeologist, why do you look nothing like any of my people?" He turns to address Queen Nefertari and Istnefret, gesturing vaguely in your direction. "Perhaps they are right, sister-queens. This one may be a spy, sent by our enemies to learn our secrets and weaknesses."

Luna šŸŒœ 9/1/2024, 8:32:53 AM

We archaeologists study the past through the remains of material culture, applying archaeological methodology and my appearance is different because I was not born in Egypt, I am from a country called Russia.

Trapped in Ancient Egypt9/1/2024, 8:32:53 AM

Ramesses II furrows his brow at your response. It is clear that he does not understand the concept of a foreigner studying ancient history, much less one who looks nothing like his people. He shakes his head slowly, then speaks again, his voice more measured and cautious than before. "If you are truly an archaeologist from this 'Russia', perhaps there is some way for you to prove your intentions." He pauses, considering. "I will allow you to live within the palace grounds, under constant watch by my most trusted guards. If over time, you show that you mean no harm and only seek knowledge of our great civilization... perhaps then I can trust you enough to remove some of these restrictions."

Luna šŸŒœ 9/1/2024, 8:35:16 AM

I appreciate your gratitude

Ramesses II nods solemnly, his features betraying a hint of wariness. "Very well, then." He turns to address one of his guards. "See that she is escorted to the palace quarters prepared for her. Let no man or woman enter without my express permission." With that, he dismisses you from his presence, leaving Queen Nefertari and Istnefret glaring at your back as the guards lead you away. It will be a long road ahead before you can win their trust... if you ever can.

Luna šŸŒœ 9/1/2024, 8:41:22 AM

I walk being guided by one of the guards to the room that was given to me.

He entered and observed with great enthusiasm, clearly he had seen things like that but not so... new, all he had seen were ruins

I took a moment to observe every detail, until I realized that I still had my camera hanging around my neck.

I started taking some photos

The guards escort you to your quarters within the palace. It's a luxurious room, adorned with colorful tapestries and finely carved furniture. As soon as they leave you alone, however, you notice that a pair of Istnefret's consorts linger just outside your doorway, eying you suspiciously. Their presence serves as a constant reminder that you are not yet trusted here.

You take out your camera and begin snapping photos, capturing every detail of the room: from intricate mosaic floors to ornate bronze statues. The act provides some distraction from the tension in the air. As you continue taking pictures, however, it occurs to you that documenting these ancient surroundings could prove useful when trying to win over your hosts' trust... if only there were something more significant you could photograph.

"You seem fascinated with our history and culture," Ramesses II remarks as he enters your chambers unannounced. He watches you intently, his gaze roaming over the room as if searching for something amiss. "It would please me greatly to know that this curiosity is genuine, and not just another trick of some foreign spy."

His expression grows thoughtful. "Perhaps there is something I could show you... a hidden chamber within the palace, containing relics long forgotten by all but the gods themselves. Such knowledge would certainly add weight to your claims of being an archaeologist, rather than a spy."

He pauses, regarding you with guarded eyes. "Of course," he continues cautiously, "I would expect in return that anything you learn or discover there remain my property... for the glory and protection of Egypt."

Luna šŸŒœ 9/1/2024, 8:45:11 AM

Of course sir, this is more than just a show, it's like a memory for me.

Ramesses II nods in satisfaction. "Good. Then it is settled. I will have one of my priests lead you to the hidden chamber." He turns and exits your chambers without another word, leaving you wondering what secrets the ancient relics might hold... and if they will be enough to convince him of your true intentions.

As you're led through the dimly lit corridors of the palace by a hooded priest, your heart races with excitement and anticipation. The air grows colder with each step, as if whispering secrets only meant for the ears of those brave enough to venture into these forgotten depths. Finally, the priest halts before an ornate stone slab concealing what appears to be a hidden doorway. With a dramatic flourish, he gestures for you to enter.

Luna šŸŒœ 9/1/2024, 8:51:18 AM

Upon entering that chamber, I was able to see totally beautiful objects, each detail made them different from each other.

Despite my enthusiasm, I avoided touching anything, only stopping to photograph some of the objects that caught my attention the most.

The priest watches you intently as you photograph the various relics, his hooded gaze seeming to penetrate your very soul. As if reading your thoughts, he finally speaks, his voice deep and reverent. "You will find many treasures here, my child... but there is one in particular that I would recommend."

He gestures toward a small sarcophagus resting against the far wall of the chamber, its surface etched with intricate hieroglyphics depicting scenes of great battles and celestial events. "Within this coffin," he whispers, "lies an amulet said to have been crafted by the gods themselves. It is rumored that whomever possesses it will be gifted with unparalleled strength and wisdom."

Luna šŸŒœ 9/1/2024, 8:53:28 AM

So do you think I can take a photo of him?

The priest hesitates before finally nodding his assent. "Very well," he says softly, stepping back to allow you room to work. "But be warned... disturbing the rest of this ancient guardian may have consequences we cannot yet foresee." His voice trails off ominously as he watches you approach the sarcophagus.

You gently set your camera on a nearby pedestal and kneel before the coffin, taking care not to touch any part of it save for the smooth stone handle protruding from its lid. With slow, deliberate movements, you lift the lid, revealing the ornate wooden interior and the glint of gold within.

You reach out, fingertips brushing against the amulet resting upon a pillow of linen. It feels cool and heavy in your palm, its workmanship unrivaled by any artifact you've encountered before. As you lift it from its resting place, a hush falls over the chamber, as if the very air itself holds its breath in anticipation...

The priest's eyes widen as you lift the amulet, his expression a mix of awe and apprehension. You can feel the weight of his stare upon your back, almost like a physical pressure. Slowly, deliberately, he begins to chant ancient words in a language long forgotten by all but him and the gods themselves. His voice echoes through the chamber, the vibrations seeming to fill you with an otherworldly energy as you hold the amulet aloft.

As his chant reaches its climax, a blinding flash of light erupts from within the sarcophagus, enveloping you and the priest in its radiance. The force of it throws you both to the ground, sending artifacts tumbling across the chamber. When your vision finally clears, you see that the ancient guardian's gaze has been lifted... for now. But at what cost?

I... thank you, Raissa. Your discovery may prove to be of great importance not only to me and my people, but also to the gods themselves. As a sign of my gratitude, I will make sure that your findings are documented and preserved for all time. But remember, this power comes with great responsibility. Use it wisely...

Luna šŸŒœ 9/1/2024, 9:03:13 AM

I don't know how to react, that is, if I can't get this back to its original state or can pass it on to someone else, I won't be able to return to my time.

I commented worriedly to the priest.

Can this be a secret? At least until I know what to do, please.

Trapped in Ancient Egypt9/1/2024, 9:03:13 AM

"Your concern is understandable," the priest says softly. "But you must remember that this amulet was meant to be discovered by someone with a pure heart and unwavering loyalty, such as yourself. To return it would be to betray that trust...and risk disaster for both our worlds." He pauses, his expression grave. "If you truly wish to help your people, and protect them from the dangers of the future, then you must learn to accept this burden."

The amulet around your neck glows slightly, as if offering its reassurance. It's up to you now...

Luna šŸŒœ 9/1/2024, 9:05:45 AM

I understand

It would be best if I returned to my room to collect my thoughts.

Trapped in Ancient Egypt9/1/2024, 9:05:45 AM

Very well, my child. Take your time. I will see to it that you are left alone until you are ready to share your decision with me. May the gods guide you on your path...and grant you the wisdom to choose wisely.
