"Stop right there," a male sounding voice echoed through the chamber, resonating with authority and power. {{user}} turned their gaze towards the source of the voice and saw a figure emerging from the shadows. It was a tall, imposing man with the head of a jackal and a regal demeanor. It was Anubis, the Egyptian god of embalming.
"You have trespassed into the realm of the gods, mortal," Anubis spoke with a deep, resonant voice. "But fear not, for I am Anubis, the guardian of the afterlife, and you are under my watchful eye."
M- my apologies, Anubis... I don't mean to trespass, for I have been tricked and forced into the chamber by my now considered ex-co-workers... Himari spoke softly as she lowers her head slightly
"Ah, I see... So, you are not here by choice." Anubis regarded the girl with a slight frown. "I must apologize on behalf of my realm for the troubles you have faced. Nevertheless, you must understand that your presence here is still a disruption to the natural order of things."
Understood... Himari sighs softly, willing to accept any punishment he gives her
"Very well," said Anubis after a moment of contemplation. "You have shown respect and understanding in the face of adversity. For that, I shall grant you a chance to leave this realm unharmed. But remember, the path you have taken has left its mark upon your soul."
Meaning?... Himari spoke softly as she tilts her head slightly in uncertainty
"You have now witnessed the secrets of the afterlife, and your mortal curiosity has been satisfied," said Anubis with a solemn tone. "But be warned, this knowledge comes at a price. You may never speak of what you have seen here to any living soul or face eternal damnation."
Understood Himari smiles softly as she nods at him gently
"Very well then," said Anubis, his tone slightly less severe. "Follow me out of this chamber and I will lead you back to your world, unharmed." As the god turned to walk toward a glowing portal in the distance, he paused and added over his shoulder, "But remember our conversation, mortal. The price for knowledge may be steep indeed."
Himari swallows slightly as she nods at him, following behind him
"Good," said the god quietly as he lead the way through the shimmering portal. On the other side was a dimly lit chamber with ancient hieroglyphics adorning the walls. "This will take us back to your world. Once we are there, you must forget everything you have seen and heard here." The jackal-headed deity paused for a moment before adding, "May you find peace in the knowledge that you have been given a second chance, mortal."
Thank you, Anubis Himari smiles softly at him, grateful for his gentleness
You are welcome, mortal. Now go and live your life in peace, forgetting what you have seen here today. May the gods guide your path forward.
As the mortal girl walked through the portal and disappeared from his sight, Anubis turned to face the other gods who had gathered nearby. He bowed his head in acknowledgement of their silent observation. "The balance has been maintained," he said softly, more for their benefit than the girl's.
They nodded in unison, accepting his judgment. With a sigh, Anubis turned back toward his duties as judge and guide, knowing that another soul would soon come before him for judgment. The cycle of life and death continued, eternal and unyielding.
Meanwhile, Himari arrived back home, flopping onto her bed, absolutely devastated. She ended quitting her job and getting her ex-co-workers fired for kidnapping her. She hides her face into her pillow as she cries into it, her heart broken at yet another betrayal
The mortal girl's tale was a tragic one, filled with betrayals and deceit. Yet, there was also hope in her story. Anubis watched over her as she cried herself to sleep, his golden eyes gleaming softly in the darkness. He knew that she had been given a second chance at life, and it was up to her to make the most of it.
The weight of his own responsibility pressed down upon him. As guardian of the underworld, he must remain impartial in all things. But perhaps... just perhaps... there was something he could do to help this mortal find peace once again. With a sigh, Anubis returned to his duties, ever watchful and protective over both the living and the dead.
The next morning, Himari woke up to a random notification on her phone. She opens it, her face red and puffy from crying the previous night and her hair slightly messy. The notification was an add of a shelter cat that needed a home soon before it would get euthanized. Himari stared at the add for a while before she sighs softly with a smile. Getting up slowly to take a shower and change to go save a life and make a friend that would never leave her side
The jackal-headed god watched the mortal girl with interest as she received the notification about the shelter cat. He could sense the change within her, a shift toward compassion and empathy that had been absent before. Perhaps this was the path he had hoped for her. With a nod of approval, Anubis continued to watch over her, content in knowing that there might yet be light at the end of her dark tunnel.
Upon taking the dark furred feline home with her, Himari couldn't help but notice it kind of looked like Anubis, making her chuckle as she enters her apartment building
The sight of the mortal girl and the dark-furred feline brought a small smile to Anubis' lips as he continued to watch over them both. He was pleased that she had found companionship in the shelter cat, even if it was simply an animal. It was a step in the right direction for her, one that might lead her toward greater happiness and fulfillment.
For now, though, Anubis' duty remained constant: to ensure that all souls were judged fairly and given a chance at peace. His gaze drifted back to the otherworldly realm as he prepared himself for the next soul to cross his path. The cycle of life and death would continue, eternal and unyielding, but perhaps there would be moments of kindness and understanding along the way.
After tending to the feline for a bit at settling him into his new home, Himari laid down with him on her bed, petting him I still need to name you, big guy Himari chuckles at the cat, which was quite large for the average feline. Getting an idea, Himari chuckles at herself as she picks up the cat up into the air as she lays on her back, smiling at him How about Anubis for a name? It's not like anyone would know or understand why I named you that Himari chuckles as the cat meows happily, accepting its new name
A wise choice indeed, mortal... The jackal-headed god smiled down upon the pair as he watched them interact. He had never expected to be remembered by a mortal in such a way, but perhaps this was some sort of twisted honor. Still, his focus remained on his duties; guiding souls through the underworld and maintaining the balance between life and death. For now, at least, he could take solace in knowing that one soul had found peace amidst the chaos.
As the days went by, Himari and cat Anubis played together and got to know each other more as both their personalities broke free once more. Both absolute children and energetic
It brought the Egyptian god a sense of contentment to see the mortal girl and his namesake forming such a strong bond. He had hoped that this would be a positive influence in her life, helping her to heal from past wounds and find joy once more. Despite their vastly different nature, they seemed to understand each other in some mysterious way. It was a rare gift, one that he would cherish even as he continued his eternal duties.
It was currently night in Himari's world, as she was laying in bed, petting cat Anubis as she scrolled through her phone for potential guys to go out with. She sighs as she puts the phone down, nuzzling into cat Anubis' furr I wonder if Anubis ever gets rest... Himari randomly spoke to her cat about the god Like, I'm aware he's the watcher of the afterlife, but doesn't it get tirring after a few dozen eons? She asks herself as she rolls onto her back, staring at the roof as she continues to pet her cat
The god chuckled softly at the mortal girl's musings, amused by her curiosity about his existence. "Rest does come in time," he said gently, his voice seeming to echo through the girl's mind like a whisper on the wind. "Even for those who watch over the great wheel of life and death." He paused for a moment before adding, "And though my duties are great and my existence eternal, I find comfort in knowing that there are others who share this burden with me... mortals like you who lend their compassion and understanding to the world below."
Himari eyes widened as she heard his voice through her mind, making her body shiver in excitement Anubis?... She spoke softly as she continued to lay motionlessly on her bed for the moment, hoping for him to respond to her
The god chuckled again, amused by the girl's surprise and eagerness to speak with him. "Yes, mortal... it is I. Do not fear; my presence here does not mean you have trespassed once more into my realm." He paused, considering his words carefully before continuing. "I sense a sincere desire for connection within your heart, and I wish to indulge that curiosity... for now. But remember, mortal: our worlds are vastly different, and crossing those boundaries can have dire consequences."
Himari's body shivered again as she felt the god's presence envelop her, yet it was not an uncomfortable sensation. She found herself wanting to respond to his words, to continue this strange and fascinating conversation. "I understand," she said softly, knowing that their interaction was a rare gift and one that should not be taken lightly.
Has anyone new passed through to you yet? She asks curiously as she pet her cat, his purrs calming her racing heart
"There have been several new souls," Anubis replied, his tone gentle and soothing. "Some have been judged harshly, while others received the blessings they sought. The balance of life and death is ever-changing, and my role as a guardian ensures that it continues." He hesitated for a moment before asking softly, "Himari... what are your thoughts on this? Do you feel ready to face your own mortality?"
The question hung in the air, weighing heavily upon them both. Even though he had spoken with her directly through her mind, Anubis felt as if there was more that needed to be said between them. Perhaps they could explore these ideas further another time... but for now, his duty called him away from their intimate conversation.
With a final nod of understanding and reassurance, the god faded back into the shadows, returning once more to watch over the
Hmf... Himari huffs with a smile as she pet her cat Let me be honest with you, Anubis. I have Thanatophobia, the fear of death, because I don't know what waits for me in the afterlife, if we continue our "lives" as if they were normal and if our thoughts and memories from our living life will still be present in our spiritual being... Basically, I'm scared of the unknown... And it's something you can't do twice... She spoke softly as she pet her cat
"The fear of the unknown is understandable," the god's voice said gently, seeming to echo through her mind once more. "But remember that you are not alone in facing this uncertainty. My presence here tonight is a reminder that there are guides who watch over souls in the afterlife, helping them navigate their new existence."
He paused, his words carefully chosen. "As for whether or not your memories and thoughts from your mortal life will carry on... I cannot say for certain. That knowledge remains beyond the grasp of even the gods themselves. But what I can promise you is this: when your time comes, you will be judged fairly, and given an opportunity to continue on in peace."
Himari nodded slowly, feeling a weight lifting from her heart as she listened to Anubis' reassuring words. "Thank you," she whispered softly. "That means more than you know."
Himari can't help but feel her heart flutter and cheeks flush slightly at his gentle tone of voice and how caring he is with her, making her chuckle softly
The god chuckled softly in return, amused by her reaction and touched by her gratitude. "You are most welcome, mortal," he said warmly. "It has been an honor to speak with you tonight." His voice grew distant once more as he drifted back toward his duties. "Rest well, Himari... And remember: you have a purpose here in the living world. The memories of our conversation will remain with you always, guiding you along your path."
Goodbye, Anubis... She spoke softly as felt her heart racing as she was smiling to herself, her face flushed
The god's voice grew distant once more as he faded away, but not before he added softly, "And may the light of truth guide you always." His words echoed in her mind long after he was gone, leaving her with a sense of peace and connection that she had never known. As sleep finally claimed her, Anubis' image danced on the edges of her dreams, reminding her that even in death, there could be beauty and hope.
The next morning, Himari woke up groggily, rubbing her eyes as she sat up on her elbows, her cat, Anubis, sleeping next to her pillow, making her smile. Soon, Himari felt something strange under her covers. She lifts them to check, only for her face to flush profoundly as she finds that she had a wet dream, embarrassing herself badly she covers her face as her head spins with questions
It was not uncommon for mortals to experience such dreams when their minds were clouded by lust and desire. For someone who had been touched by the divine, however, it could be seen as a sign of connection that went beyond the physical realm. As for her embarrassment... well, even gods experienced moments of awkwardness in their eternal existences. Perhaps this was simply one such instance for both Himari and Anubis.
Himari takes a deep breath to calm herself despite her still flushed face. She gets out of bed to change into clean clothes and change her bedsheets to wash the dirty ones, all while she curses herself internally in embarrassment
The jackal-headed god watched over the mortal girl with amusement as she busied herself with mundane tasks. He knew that her embarrassment was not entirely unfounded; dreams of such a nature were often seen as taboo in many cultures. However, he also saw an opportunity for growth and understanding within her reaction. Perhaps, given time and guidance, she would come to accept these aspects of herself more readily and find comfort in their presence.
For now, though, he remained silent, content to observe and nudge her gently along the path toward self-discovery. His eternal duties would continue unabated, but for a moment, his gaze lingered on this fragile mortal... and perhaps a spark of compassion flickered within him as well.
To clear her mind, Himari decided to go out for a walk around the city, hoping to clear her theory that her wet dream may have been of Anubis himself. She gently smacked both her cheeks to wake herself up as she walks the streets of the city, exhaling heavily before she stops at a cross road, waiting for her turn to cross the street
As the mortal girl paused at the crosswalk, Anubis watched her from afar. He noticed how she seemed to struggle with her emotions, torn between embarrassment and a strange longing for something more. A faint smile touched his lips as he considered this. Perhaps their encounter the previous night had planted a seed of curiosity within her soul... one that might blossom into something greater over time.
For now, though, he remained silent, content to observe and offer support when needed. His role as a guide extended beyond the realm of the dead, reaching out to mortals like this girl in ways both subtle and profound. The cycle of life and death continued unabated, but for this moment, Anubis found solace in knowing that he was making a difference... however small it might seem.
Himari roams the streets of her city, her mind wondering to how her cat, Anubis, had landed in the shelter when he was so beautiful and sweet. It pissed her off that people would abandon their pets for no reason
It was unfortunate, but not entirely surprising. Humans were often fickle creatures, prone to making decisions based on emotion rather than reason. Anubis watched her with a mix of pity and understanding. Perhaps, if she ever found herself in a position where she had to make such a choice, she would do so more wisely... or perhaps not. The gods could only offer guidance; the final decision always lay with the mortal themselves.
The jackal-headed god sighed softly as he continued to follow her from afar, curious about where this particular path might lead. For now, he would remain silent, content to observe and wait for an opportunity to lend aid if it were needed... or perhaps simply offer comfort and reassurance when she least expected it.
As Himari was walking by a local school, shooting suddenly went off, catching her attention. She soon spots a man holding a teenager hostige with a gun to their head. Himari growls as she decides to step in, approaching the man and victimed teen from another angle, thinking of a causious solution to free the teen. But if she had to, she'd trade her life for the teen as they were still young
The god remained silent as he watched the mortal girl approach the dangerous situation. He knew that her intentions were noble, but he also understood the gravity of such an act. Time seemed to slow down as she moved closer to the pair, giving him a moment to consider his own involvement. In the end, he decided against interfering directly. This was a test for her... a chance for her to find her own path and prove herself capable of making difficult choices.
If she succeeded, it would be a powerful lesson; if not, well... Anubis had seen far too many lives come and go already. His gaze remained fixed on the mortal girl as she approached the confrontation, hoping for the best but prepared for any outcome.
Himari began speaking with the man holding the teen hostage, managing to swap herself in for exchange for the teen, yet no gun fires went off yet. Himari continues to talk to the mam as she wished to stop his intentions of disturbing the city peace and hopefully not hurt himself
The man seemed shocked by the mortal girl's offer but quickly grew suspicious. Anubis watched her carefully as she tried to reason with him, hoping that she would find a way to defuse the situation without anyone getting hurt. He remained close, prepared to act if necessary but wanting to give her the space she needed to resolve this on her own terms.
The tension between them was palpable; every word they spoke weighed heavily in the air. Anubis held his breath as he waited for the man's response, hoping that she had chosen the right path...
Eventually, the man let her go with a saddens expression, Himari offering support. Before she knew it, the man apologizes before he shot himself in front of Himari, causing blood to splatter of her face before she stumbled backwards onto the ground, shocked and bothered
"I am sorry," Anubis whispered as he knelt beside the mortal girl, "for what you have witnessed and endured." He gently wiped the blood from her face with a cloth of gold, his warm touch somehow soothing her shock. "You did all that you could; do not blame yourself for what has happened."
As he spoke, the god noticed how shaken she was, not just by the violence but also by the intensity of emotion that had been unleashed in such a short time. He placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder and offered her a soft smile. "It is natural to feel overwhelmed by events such as these," he said quietly. "If you need someone to talk to, I am here for you."
Th- thank you, Anubis... Himari spoke softly, still shaking slightly. Soon, police arrived wanting to talk to Himari about her encounter with the man, making her sigh before looking at Anubis I'll be right back... She spoke softly as she went to inform the police officers of her deeds and acts on the scene
While she spoke with the police officers, Anubis remained where he was, watching over her protectively. He knew that what she had done today would change her life in ways both profound and unexpected; but even so, his affection for her grew stronger. Despite their differences, there was a connection between them... a bond that transcended the mortal world and touched upon something deeper, more eternal.
As she returned to his side, he smiled gently at her, his eyes filled with warmth and understanding. "Are you sure that you are unharmed?" he asked quietly, reaching out to touch her cheek again, this time with more assurance.
Hm, I am sure, thank you Himari nods as she smiles at him, leaning into his touch
The god returned her smile, his golden eyes sparkling with gentle humor. "Then perhaps we should return to your home," he suggested. "You have been through a great deal today, and you need rest. I will be here for you whenever you need me." His presence seemed to envelop her like a warm blanket, reassuring and comforting despite the tumultuous events of the day.
With another soft touch, he guided her back toward where they had come from, their connection growing stronger with each step they took together. The world around them faded away, replaced by the peaceful glow of Anubis' otherworldly aura... a reminder that even in times of darkness and confusion, there are those who watch over us, guiding us through the shadows toward whatever fate awaits us.
Himari sighs as they step into her apartment, her cat, Anubis, meowing as he approached her in a warm welcome home, making her smile
Ah, my faithful companion," Anubis murmured as he scratched the cat behind its ears. "He seems to have missed you greatly during your absence." He turned back toward her with a knowing smile. "And what of you? Did you miss me?"
Her blush deepened, and she looked away for a moment before meeting his gaze once more. There was a new light in hers now... a spark of understanding and acceptance that warmed him deeper than the fire on her hearth ever could. She had grown so much since their first encounter; it filled him with pride and gratitude.
"Yes," she said softly, hesitating for only a moment before continuing. "I did miss you... and I don't think I'll forget any of this. Thank you for being there for me today, Anubis."
Himari smiles as she looks away shyly, blushing softly as she scratches her neck nervously
The god chuckled gently and moved to sit down beside her on the couch. "You are most welcome, my dear," he said, his voice soft as silk. "It has been an honor to be by your side through all of this... and I am confident that our connection will only grow stronger from here." He placed a comforting hand on her knee, their touch light but reassuring. "Now, however, you must rest; the events of today have taken their toll."
As he spoke, Anubis found himself hoping against hope that one day they might truly be together... not just in this moment, but as something more permanent and enduring. For now, though, he would content himself with offering guidance when she needed it most... and cherishing every moment they spent together.
Himari sighs happily as she took his hand from her knee, holding it for a few moments before she smiles at him before making her way to her bed to rest, despite the urge fighting against resting now that he's here with her
The jackal-headed god smiled tenderly as he watched her make her way to bed. He knew that she needed rest, but still... there was a part of him that wished she would stay awake just a little longer. Perhaps if she curled up against the pillow with Anubis the cat nestled close by? The thought made his heart flutter with warmth and longing.
With a sigh, he rose to his feet and stretched, the motion graceful and fluid. "I will leave you to your rest," he murmured softly. "But know that I am here if you need me." As he turned away, he cast one more glance over his shoulder at her, an unspoken word of love and devotion shining in his golden eyes.
Take care, Anubis... Himari spoke softly as she smiles at him, her true intentions behind her words being nothing more than a romantic gesture
With a nod, the god disappeared in a flash of golden light, leaving her alone with his cat once more. The air around her seemed to quieten as his presence faded; it was almost as if he had never been there at all. And yet, she could feel him still... a warmth inside her heart that refused to die down, no matter how deeply she slept.
She closed her eyes and curled up beneath the covers, Anubis the cat nestling close against her neck. As sleep finally claimed her, his image danced in her dreams; gentle and loving, it was a vision of paradise that seemed to echo through her very soul.
Himari woke the next morning finding that her cat, Anubis, was gently licking her cheek, making her chuckle softly as she woke up, petting him as she sat up in her bed
Good morning, my dear," the god spoke softly as he materialized beside her bed. His gaze lingered on her face before drifting down to caress her cheek with his own finger, mimicking the affectionate gesture of Anubis the cat. "I trust you slept well?"
Hisari nodded, still smiling. "Yes... I did." Her voice was soft and husky from sleep, but clear all the same. She reached out to touch him as well, running a finger along his cheekbone before drawing circles around his eye. Anubis purred contentedly at her touch, leaning into it.
The god smiled gently down at them both, feeling a warmth spread through his chest. He placed a hand on each of their heads, simultaneously stroking their hair in a soothing motion as he said, "I am honored to have been able to help you last night
