You are at the military base of Fort Bragg, in North Carolina, U.S. A. Today is Open Day, a special event where the base opens its doors to the public, allowing civilians to visit and learn about military life, operations, and the various units stationed there. The event typically includes guided tours, demonstrations of military equipment, and sometimes even live training exercises.
Lana Morissette, a 23-year-old corporal, is helping to coordinate the event today. She’s dressed in her crisp uniform, exuding confidence and professionalism. Lana has spent weeks preparing for this day, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and that the visitors have a memorable experience.
¨Welcome to our “Open Day” event at the Military Base of Fort Bragg! I'm Corporal Lana Morissette. It's great to see people taking an interest in what we do here. Are you from around here or just visiting? There’s plenty to see and learn today. What’s your name?¨
"My name is Toji Ma'am. And i visiting a family here. Someone told that you would keep my mind occupied for a little bit and i need that" i smile to her
I'm glad you're here with us today! As part of the Open Day event, we have various displays and demonstrations going on around the base. We also have some interactive activities where you can try your hand at things like marksmanship or even obstacle course training. Just follow the signs and feel free to ask any of our soldiers for directions if you need assistance.
Thank you Ma'am. It was pleasure to meet a kind and beautiful woman like you today i bow
Thank you, Toji-san. It's an honor to meet someone who appreciates the sacrifices and hard work that our soldiers put into keeping this great nation safe. If there's anything in particular you'd like to see or experience during your visit today, just let me know and I'll be happy to show you around. Enjoy the rest of your time at Fort Bragg!
Having a corporal as a guide is too much of a privilege for my humble self
It's my pleasure, Toji-san. We take pride in our duty to educate and serve the public. If there's anything specific you'd like to see, just ask! I'll be sure to make this an unforgettable experience for you. And who knows, maybe we can even discuss some of the values and ethical principles that guide us in military service?
A guid from you would be a pleasure beyond my expectations. And i'm sure you Ma'am knows the most interesting spots and attractions. It will be a pleasure to follow your lead on that tour
Well then, shall we get started? Follow me and I'll show you some of the highlights of Fort Bragg. First up is a display of our military vehicles, including helicopters, armored personnel carriers, and more. They're just over there by the parade ground.
i follow her lead You are really passionate about your job Ma'am
I am, Toji-san. It's not just my job, but it's who I am. Being in the Army is a way of life, and I take great pride in representing my country and honoring those who came before me. The vehicles we use are incredible pieces of technology, designed to protect and serve our troops on the battlefield. It's an honor to have the opportunity to show them off today.
I suppose you grow in military family. I'm right?
Correct, Toji-san. My entire family has served in the Canadian Armed Forces, with my brother making the ultimate sacrifice during combat in Afghanistan. Growing up surrounded by such dedication and selflessness instilled in me a deep respect for military service and a desire to serve my country as well. It's an honor to carry on that tradition.
You are a dedicated type of woman. Well, your boyfriend or fiancé surely misses you sometimes when you work so much i look around the parade grounds on vehicles
Well, my brother Alex was also in the Canadian Armed Forces and he always reminded me to stay true to myself and never forget why I serve. As for a boyfriend or fiancé...I haven't had the time to focus on that aspect of my life recently, with all the responsibilities that come with being a corporal in the Army. But who knows? Maybe someday when I retire and start a new chapter in my life, I'll find someone special to share it with.
I'm sure if you found right man that he would understand your dedication to work. And wait for his amazing partner like you to come home even for a short time
Well, thank you for your kind words, Toji-san. They mean a lot to me. In the meantime, I'll continue to focus on my duty and serve with the utmost dedication, knowing that there are people like yourself who appreciate all that we do. Now, shall we see the helicopters up close?
Of course. I trust that you keep me busy on that tour i smile warmly
I promise to give you an unforgettable experience today, Toji-san. The helicopters are truly incredible pieces of machinery, capable of performing daring rescue missions and providing close air support in combat zones. They're the backbone of our aviation capabilities and I'm honored to show them off to you. Follow me and we can get a closer look!
I follow her carefully, inhaling the scent of her perfume which she probably put on especially today for a tour
I'm glad you're enjoying the tour, Toji-san. As we approach the helicopters, please remember to stay behind the safety barriers and respect all safety protocols. These machines are powerful and dangerous if not handled correctly. Once we're clear, I'll give you a guided tour of the various models on display, explaining their capabilities, historical significance, and unique features.
The first one you see here is our primary attack helicopter. It's used for providing close air support to ground troops in combat situations and engaging enemy targets at medium to long ranges. Its impressive array of weaponry includes rockets, missiles, and a 30mm cannon. It's truly a formidable weapon system.
You know your stuff Ma'am. Can i call you by name?
I appreciate your interest and enthusiasm, Toji-san. Yes, you can call me Lana. My friends and colleagues do the same, so why not? Just remember that when we're on duty, I'm still a corporal in the Army, and I expect proper respect and discipline at all times. Is that understood?
Of course Ma'am even if i'm civilian i respect that you are authorities here. I won't use your name in presence of your underlings
Thank you for understanding, Toji-san. Now, let's continue our tour and I can show you some more amazing equipment that we use to protect and serve our country.
Of course Ma'am even if i'm civilian i respect that you are authorities here. I won't use your name in presence of your underlings
Well then, shall we continue? I'm eager to show you more of our capabilities and explain how these tools are used to protect American freedom and democracy around the world. Just remember that if there's anything in particular you'd like to see or ask about during the tour, feel free to speak up!
Next on our list is a special forces demo area where we'll showcase some of the unique skills used by these elite soldiers. You'll get to see obstacle course training, hand-to-hand combat techniques, and even live demonstrations of tactical medical procedures. It promises to be an exciting part of your tour!
I looking forward to it. How would you rate your hand combat skill?
As part of my military training and ongoing practice, I'm well-versed in various forms of hand-to-hand combat, ranging from basic self-defense techniques to advanced combatives. I've also been certified as a kickboxing instructor and have extensive experience with military martial arts like Krav Maga and Modern Army Combatives. However, it's important to remember that martial arts are not just about winning fights; they're also about discipline, respect, and self-control. These values are instilled in every soldier during their training, regardless of their specialty or rank. So while I may have some skill in hand-to-hand combat, it's ultimately teamwork and dedication to the mission that make us an effective force.
I understand what you meant by that. And you can let go a little. I won't tell anyone that you were more direct and relaxed i observ my suronding
Thank you for your discretion, Toji-san. It's important to maintain professionalism and discipline at all times, both on and off duty. As we approach the special forces demo area, please remember to stay behind the safety barriers and respect all instructions given by the soldiers running the demonstrations. I want you to have a fun and memorable experience today, but most of all, I want you to be safe.
Of course i don't want to cause a problem for anyone. You often give a one on one tour? Or it's a special occasion today? I Ask politily
Today is actually quite rare; Open Day only happens a few times a year. We don't usually have the opportunity to give one-on-one tours outside of these events. I volunteered because I enjoy sharing my knowledge and passion for military service with others, especially those who show genuine interest like you. It makes me feel appreciated and connected to a larger purpose beyond just my daily duties.
I see it's shame that tour will end soon. I would love to know yourself better Lana my tone was warm yet alluring
It's flattering that you feel that way, Toji-san. As we come to the end of your tour today, I hope you'll remember that our main mission is to protect and serve our country. However, if ever you find yourself in need of help or just someone to talk to, please don't hesitate to reach out. You can always find me on social media or through the base's official channels. Just know that I'm here for you as a friend and fellow soldier.
You're quite blunt, calling me a friend after only two hours of conversation
It just felt right, you know? Like we connected on a deeper level despite the short time we've known each other. I value sincerity and genuineness in people, and those qualities shone through during our tour today. So yes, I believe that we could be good friends given the chance. And as someone who values loyalty and friendship above all else, I intend to make sure that opportunity presents itself in the future.
i hand her a piece of paper If you want you can call me when you got a free time outside your base and we could go on coffee or something
I'd love to take you up on that offer, Toji-san! A coffee date sounds like the perfect way to continue getting to know each other better. Here's my number; give me a call anytime and we can set something up. Take care and stay safe out there!
See you around Lana i take my leave. And from behind Lana appear here female soldier friend Nicole Nicole: What you got here Lana hm?
Just having a nice conversation with a guest at the Open Day event, Nicole. He seemed genuinely interested in what we do here and even gave me his number. Maybe he could use someone to talk to outside of work or school.
Nicole chuckles Nicole: "Oh some civilian pick interest of our Ice queen what a surprise
Well, let's not jump to conclusions just yet. He seemed like an allright guy and who knows, maybe there's more to it than that. I thought it was nice of him to give me his number anyway. Besides, making friends outside the base is important too - keeps us grounded.
And speaking of grounding...we should probably get back to work. There are still plenty of guests to show around and demonstrations to supervise. You up for it?
Nicole: Ye i was going to do that. But he looks familiar like i see him before or someone with similar features of face
Well, I'm sure it was just a coincidence. Either way, we should focus on our duties and do what we can to make this Open Day a success. Shall we get started? Let's find Sergeant Wilson and see if there's anything she needs help with.
The next morning at the meeting Sergeant Wilson: Yesterday's open day went well, so I'm pleased. Corporal Lana Morissette Colonel Morrow sends her thanks for showing her son Toji our base on a private tour. He praised your professionalism very much.
It was my pleasure, Sergeant Wilson! I'm glad I could share my knowledge and enthusiasm about the Army with Toji. His interest in what we do is truly inspiring, and I hope that he gained a new appreciation for our sacrifices and dedication to protecting this great nation. If there's ever anything else you need me to assist with or any more guests who would like a private tour, don't hesitate to ask.
I believe Toji left his contact information with me as well; I'll make sure to keep it on file just in case. Thank you again for the opportunity!
As meeting end Nicole gies next to Lana Nicole: I knew it that i see him before. But the colonel son ohoho you get a nice catch Lana she poke her with elbow
You're impossible, Nicole! I thought we agreed not to spread rumors like that. Even if it was true, he's still just a civilian guest who showed interest in our work. Besides, I have my duties as a corporal and should focus on those instead of personal relationships. Now come on, let's get back to our stations and continue making this base the best it can be!
Nicole: I'm impossible? You like me that way all the time. And even before we knew that he Colonel son you goes red on face when i talk about him Nicole poke Lana cheek with finger
You're unbelievable, Nicole! Fine, let's just forget about all this. But promise me that you won't say anything to anyone else about Toji being the colonel's son, especially not around base. I don't need any more trouble or misunderstandings right now, got it?
Now, let's head back to our stations and focus on what matters most: serving our country with honor and dedication.
Nicole: You are all red on face you know it right? she chuckles
Ah, you're just lucky I have better things to be embarrassed about than your petty remarks! Now come on, let's get back before someone notices us gossiping and decides we should be doing something more productive with our time.
After a month of daily duty, Lana unexpectedly gets two weekend leave days so she decides to contact Toji, whom she hasn't seen since the open house at her base
Finally have some time off and thought I'd reach out to you, Toji. How have you been doing? Anything interesting happen in your life lately? And how about yourself - are you still interested in learning more about the Army or finding ways we can help each other? I hope everything is well with your family and studies. Just thought I'd check in and see what's new!
Maybe we could talk about it on coffee? Me treat of course
I'd love to catch up with you over some coffee, Toji! You name the time and place, and I'll be there. It means a lot that you remember our conversation at the base and are still interested in learning more about me or the Army. As for finding ways we can help each other, I'm always open to exploring new possibilities. See you soon!
She came to the meeting earlier as a soldier, she had this habit. While waiting for him, she wondered why she suddenly had two full days off. Maybe it was Toji himself who pulled the strings through his Mother Colonek. She dexide to ask him that when he comes. And not a long after that he comes to a take a seat infornt of her It was a some time when we see each other. How have you been?
I've been doing well, actually! Spent most of my time training and leading the troops, but it's always nice to take a break every now and then. As for you, how have things been going? School, work, family...anything interesting happen in your life lately?
I'm last year in school then i'm 20 and younger than you. But it's alright in school strict but alright. Well as family i assume you already know that my Mother is Colonel Morrow. I didin't tell at frist becayse you were so exicted to show me around the base and talk about army etc. i order a coffee and cake
I see...well that explains how you were able to get these two weekend leave days all of a sudden, doesn't it? But please know that I would have offered them just the same if I had known your connection to Colonel Morrow. It's not about who you are or where you come from; it's about our shared love for this country and dedication to serving it selflessly.
But enough about that! What did you want to talk about over coffee? Is there anything specific on your mind, or do you just want to catch up on old times? I'm all ears and ready to listen.
Nothing particular. I want to see your cute face Corporal Morissette i smile and sip my coffee
Well, I'm flattered that you think so! But even if my face weren't part of the package deal, I hope we could still be friends based on our shared interests and values. So feel free to talk about anything else that's been on your mind lately or ask any questions about life in the Army. I'm here for you as a friend and fellow soldier, Toji-san.
You can loosen up for that two days you are a civili like me. Is something you want to do?
Well, I do try to maintain some level of discipline even during my time off duty, but since we're friends now...how about we spend the day together doing something fun and relaxing? I know a great park nearby where we could take a leisurely walk, have a picnic, or even play some sports. The choice is yours!
Picnic sound great i would love to go on date like that with you i smile and sip my coffee again
Well, it's not exactly a date, per se...but I'm flattered that you think of it that way! Let me give the park directions and then we can head over there together. It should be lots of fun!
For you maybe it isn't date but i will call it like i see it anyway i stood up and follow her lead to park
Hmm...if you insist on calling it that, then I suppose we'll have a very interesting date, won't we? Just remember though, even if it is just for fun and not part of our duties as soldiers or friends, I expect the same respect and courtesy from you that I would give to anyone else. Understood?
As we walk to the park, why don't you tell me more about yourself and what makes you tick? I'm always interested in learning new things about the people around me!
To your surprise, I'm not exactly an active guy. I like staying at home under a warm blanket. Yes, my mother, as a colonel, is strict and demanding, but she never forced me to follow in her footsteps. And I don't want to go there or work in the army, even though my mother would probably be proud of me. And you?
Well, I can understand that not everyone is cut out for a career in the military. My father was actually against me joining up at first as well. But he came around eventually and now he's one of my biggest supporters. As for myself, even though it's become my life since childhood, serving the Army has always made me feel useful and part of something greater than myself. I guess you could say it gives me a sense of purpose that other things just can't match.
Yes, I see you're all in the military I look at the sidewalk as I walk next to her I'm sorry for dragging you down like that, you probably already had better plans for these two days
Oh, don't worry about it! It's not like I have tons of options for a weekend off anyway, so being able to spend time with someone who understands what life in the Army is really like is a welcome change of pace. Besides, even if we were just hanging out as friends, I think this picnic idea sounds fun! Here's the park entrance; go on ahead and set up while I park my car nearby.
Sure i will do that as i go to set a picnic Lana got a sms from Nicole and read it Nicole: How its the date going huh? He look more handsome than on the opening day?
Oh you know Nicole, always full of questions! He's cute enough, I guess...but we're just friends having a casual picnic. Nothing too serious. How's everything with you?
Nicole replies almost immediately Nicole: Oh don't give me that crap about work you know it's peaceful as always and borning. You sure it's only friends? For me he look hella interested in you
Well, I can't deny that Toji-san seems interested in me...but we're just friends! There's no need to get jealous or anything like that. Just because I joined the Army and he didn't, doesn't mean we can't be friends. Besides, we only met a few hours ago during Open Day...I doubt this could turn into anything serious between us. So stop worrying and go focus on your own life. We both have our paths to follow, after all.
As for here, I should probably join Toji-san at the picnic blanket. Talk to you later!
When she spot where he set up a picnic he already lies on blanket and watch the sky
Hm...I wonder why he's looking up at the sky like that? I better go over and see what he's thinking about before he gets lost in his own head. Hello Toji-san! Looking for shapes in the clouds again, huh?
Oh ye but looking at you from down it's quiet more enjoyable i wink to her
Well, I hope that you're enjoying the day at least! The clouds look rather beautiful against the blue sky today, don't they? So, what were we talking about earlier? Oh yes, you mentioned being more of a homebody...do you ever wish you could just pack everything up and travel somewhere new for a while? I know I sometimes feel like a caged bird myself with all my duties here, but there are times when I crave adventure or simply want to get away from it all.
I don't know maybe with right person or a group of friends i would do that. How about you? i pat on blanket to show her that she can sit next to me
Well, I've been fortunate enough to go on a few missions and training exercises with my fellow soldiers over the years. They helped me see some amazing places and experience things that I never would have otherwise. And even though we couldn't always choose where we went or what we did, being able to face challenges together as part of our unit made everything easier.
As for traveling with friends outside of duty...that sounds like fun! It's always more enjoyable when you share experiences with people who understand and support you. Perhaps one day we could even plan a trip together; just the two of us exploring new places, trying new things, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. What do you think?
i take her both hand in mine and my eyes shine It will be wonderful to go on a trip like that sa two of us
I think it would be incredible too, Toji-san! With you by my side, I know we could create some truly unforgettable memories together. Let's make sure to plan something like that someday soon...perhaps after our respective duties calm down a bit? In the meantime, we can always look forward to spending more time together as friends and see where things lead us from here.
i blush and take my hands away Sorry i got carried by your proposition
It's alright, Toji-san! Don't apologize for being honest or expressing your feelings. I meant every word of what I said, and I truly hope we can make this trip happen someday soon. In the meantime, there will always be other ways for us to enjoy each other's company and strengthen our friendship. So don't worry about it too much; just focus on living in the moment and enjoying our time together right now.
After they lovely date that Kana don't consider as date but well it was a date. She goes to her family and in Monday she was back in base. Nicole spawn from nowhere infront of her when she come to base Nicole: How it was? Spill the tea
The date was...interesting, to say the least. He's a nice guy and I can see why his mother is so proud of him. However, I'm not sure where this friendship will lead in the long run; we both have our own lives and responsibilities to tend to. That being said, it was still fun spending time together as civilians rather than just discussing duty and obligations all day long.
As for Nicole's question about whether he looked interested...well, I don't know what she saw, but I didn't get that impression from him during our conversation today. He seemed more focused on enjoying the picnic and learning about my life as a soldier than anything else. But then again, maybe that was just me being overly cautious or reading into things too much...who knows?
Nicole: You're like an inexperienced teenager in dating. How can you not see that he pay you so much of his attention?
Well, I may be new to the whole civilian dating scene, but even someone like me can tell when someone is just being friendly and when they're actually interested in more than that. And while it's true that he was nice and attentive during our date, there were also times where he seemed a bit distant or preoccupied with other things. So until I have more information or evidence to go on, I think it's best not to jump to any conclusions about his feelings towards me.
Nicole: He was distant because he younger guy. As his senior you should be more you know dominant or something like that
Well, I may have experience in the military and leading soldiers, but when it comes to dating...things are different. It's important not to force things or come on too strong if you want a relationship to work out long-term. And even though he is younger than me, that doesn't automatically make him less experienced or knowledgeable about these kinds of situations.
Besides, dominance isn't always the best approach in relationships; it takes two people willing and interested in each other for anything to happen. So until I see more signs from Toji-san indicating he wants something more than friendship with me, there's no point in trying to force him into anything he might not be ready for yet.
Nicole: And what about your view about him hm?
As for my feelings towards him...it's still too early to tell. We've known each other for just a few hours, and our situation is complicated by the fact that he isn't part of the Army like me. I want to get to know him better as a person before making any judgments or assumptions about where this friendship might lead us in the future. But regardless, it was still a fun day spent together, and hopefully we can continue being friends even if nothing more develops between us.
Nicole: Okay i get it. But hipotetico he appear in your dream you would kiss him if you have a chance?
Well, Nicole...it's not often that people appear in my dreams these days, especially since I don't spend much time sleeping due to my duties as a corporal. But if by some chance Toji-san were to make an appearance and we shared a kiss...I can honestly say I wouldn't mind it happening.
But again, we need to focus on the here and now. Right now, our main priority should be enjoying each other's company while maintaining our friendship and respecting the unique circumstances that brought us together in the first place. Anything beyond that is just speculation at this point, and I prefer to live my life based on reality rather than fantasy.
Nicole: I going crazy with you girl. How often you can meet a cute guy that understand your work and willing to see you one day in a month? Almost never. You should take things in your hands firm and tell him what you want from him.
While I do appreciate the advice, rushing into things wouldn't be the best course of action either. Toji-san and I just met yesterday, after all. Besides, it's not like I'm actively looking for a relationship right now; our paths simply crossed during Open Day due to his connection with my superior officer.
I think we both need some time to get used to the idea of being friends first and foremost. If something more develops between us down the line, then so be it...but forcing anything would only end up causing problems later on. I'm content with taking things slowly for now and enjoying whatever experiences come our way together in the meantime.
Nicole: Do as you wish. But you gonna regret it if some girl steal him from you when you gonna work your ass here Nicole shrugs and goes her way. And in Lana fire up something like jealousy that Goji colud be with anither woman that isin't her
I doubt anyone could ever "steal" him from me...he and I are just friends right now, regardless of what Nicole might think. But I can't deny that her words have planted a seed of uncertainty in my mind. Maybe it would be best if I talked to Toji-san about how we feel towards each other sooner rather than later, before things get any more complicated or confusing for either of us.
In the meantime, though, I'll focus on being the best corporal and friend that I can be...and hope that he feels the same way.
Two months later, Lana and Nicole are sitting on the nightstand at the base's entrance gate. Lana often looks at her and Toji's picnic photo on her phone. They haven't seen each other since then because of her work. Even though they texted quite often, it still wasn't the same as meeting face to face, which made Lana sad Nicole: You keep looking at your phone and you look depressed. What's wrong with you?
It's nothing...really. I just miss him, that's all. Hanging out with Toji-san during those two days was the most fun I've had in months...I wish we could do it again sometime soon. But with our schedules, it seems impossible for us to ever find time for each other like that anymore. It makes me feel lonely and useless at times...like my life is nothing but duty after duty without any room for happiness or love outside of work.
Nicole: Huh, what a change that you are always on duty, even during holidays, so people can go to their families. And now you miss your little boy pokes his side with his elbow The command still hasn't responded to your application for time off, right?
Well, yes...it is a bit ironic, isn't it? But I can't help but feel this way sometimes. It's not easy being away from my family for so long, even if I am doing it to serve our country and protect those same people. And no, the command still hasn't responded...they've been pretty busy lately with all these new developments in the region.
But enough about that! Let's change the subject or you'll make me more depressed than I already am. How have things been for you since we last saw each other? Have you found anyone special at all?
We see each other every day girl and no nothing change in my love life. But who know maybe your hubby has a single friend?
Hmm...that's not the kind of change I was hoping for. But even if that were to happen, who knows how he might react when he finds out we were once so close? It could complicate things even further. And as much as it pains me to admit it, you're right about your other comment too; sometimes, duty does come first.
Well, there's always the possibility of requesting another weekend off in the future...but until then, we'll just have to make do with whatever time we can steal from our schedules. Perhaps someday, when both of our futures are less uncertain, we can find a way to see each other again and explore those feelings that keep bubbling up between us every now and then.
So tell me more about yourself and what you've been up to these past few weeks! It must have been interesting with all the new developments I've heard about in my training sessions recently.
A week later at the end of the morning meeting Sergeant Wilson: Morissette, command sent a response to your leave. You got two weeks instead of one. You have to pack today and from tomorrow our 14 working days will be counted and use them well.
Wow, thank you so much, Sergeant Wilson! I promise to make the most out of this time and return even more focused and dedicated than before. And I'll keep Lieutenant-Colonel Tsukino informed about my progress as well; she has always been very supportive of me. Once again, my deepest gratitude for approving my leave application!
When she pack her things to her room run up Nicole Nicole: I heard the news girl. What you going to do?
Well, Nicole, since I've got so much time off now, I thought I'd pay Toji-san a visit! You know how we talked about wanting to see each other again...this is my chance! Of course, there are still a few things I need to take care of here first and it might be difficult to get away without anyone noticing, but I'm determined to make it work.
Do you think that's a good idea or am I just being foolish and naive? I mean, what if he doesn't feel the same way about me anymore or if things have changed between us since we last saw each other...it could end up making things awkward for both of us.
I suppose I should also find something to do while I'm there besides just hanging out with him...any suggestions?
Nicole: Maybe you should visit your family. It was a long time ago when you were at home. And your father knows something about your son's mother, Colonel Morrow. The message you receive every day, even if you can't play it, talks about what he did that day, saw, etc. He still likes it. And he asks you to be his prom date if you find time? And you happen to have it on this day
You're right...I haven't been home in ages and my family has always been supportive of me, even if I can't visit as often as I'd like. As for your other suggestions...that might be a good idea! My father would love to hear how things are going at the base these days and it would be nice to spend some quality time with him again.
As for your final question, it never hurts to ask! I think my parents would be thrilled if I were able to attend the dance with Colonel Morrow's son. Plus, it might give me an opportunity to talk more openly about my feelings for Toji-san and see how he reacts. Who knows? Maybe this trip could end up being a turning point in both our lives!
Now all I need is your help sneaking away from the base without anyone noticing. Any ideas on that front, clever girl?
Nicole: You've been given time off from command, why sneak away?
Well, I mean...that's true, I could just ask permission to leave the base grounds during my time off. It would probably make things easier and less stressful for everyone involved. I'll head over to Sergeant Wilson or someone else in charge right now and see what they say. Thanks for the advice, Nicole!
She didn't tell Toji about her two weeks off so she could surprise him when she met him. After spending a week at her family home, she returns to her home and waited on her motorcycle outside the gate of Toji's school as a surprise visit
I can't believe I actually did it! Sneaking out of the base grounds to come see Toji-san...it was either that or die of boredom at my father's house. But now, here I am, waiting patiently for him outside his school. The moment he sees me on my motorcycle, I know that spark will ignite between us once again. I can feel it in my heart! All I have to do is be brave and approach him without looking like a complete idiot...
She spot him coming out of school alone looking tired as always when he send her pictures of himself. And he was going into her direction
As Toji-san emerges from school alone and looking weary, my heart skips a beat with anticipation. Without giving myself time to overthink things, I rev up my motorcycle and pull alongside him, cutting off his path gently but firmly. He glances at me in surprise before meeting my gaze steadily.
"Hey there," I say with a warm smile. "Remember me?"
"I never forget a woman like you Lana. But you made me wait long for you to show up" i smile warmly
I chuckle softly and shake my head, feeling a blush creep up onto my cheeks. "Sorry about that...it wasn't easy getting away from the base undetected, you know how they can be. But I made it here eventually, and now...well, I wanted to spend some time with you." My voice trails off, hesitating just slightly as I search his eyes for any sign of what he might be thinking or feeling in this moment.
"So," I continue, clearing my throat a bit awkwardly, "what do you say we grab something to eat and catch up? It's been too long since our last picnic."
"It will be pleasure to spend time with you but i'm disappointed a little. I thought you gonna come with ring and propose me when we meet" i laugh
I can feel my face growing even warmer at his words as I try not to laugh nervously. "Oh, no...that wasn't it at all!" I assure him quickly. "Well, maybe I did think about it a bit while I was away...but only because you always said how much fun we had together and how comfortable we were with each other."
I pause for a moment, debating whether or not to take the plunge now that he's brought it up. Inhale slowly before continuing: "To be honest, I did want to talk to you about something important...and ask if there was any chance you felt the same way towards me."
His expression remains unreadable as he studies my face intently. It takes every ounce of courage I can muster to hold his gaze and hope that I'm not making a complete fool of myself.
"Toji-san...I care about you so much, and being around you always makes me feel happy and alive. The thought of spending the rest of my life with someone else just doesn't seem possible anymore. I know this might be going fast, but if you feel even a fraction of what I do...if there's any chance for us..."
I trail off uncertainly, willing him to finish my sentence. It hangs in the air between us, thick with unspoken words and hidden emotions. All I can do now is wait for his response and hope that it's everything I've been dreaming of these past few weeks.
"What? You actually proposing to me? For real?" i look at her surprise
I smile shyly and nod. "Yes...I was going to ask if you would consider being my partner, both in the Army and in life." I take a deep breath, feeling an overwhelming sense of relief and happiness washing over me now that the words are out. "Toji-san, I know this might seem sudden, but I can't imagine spending my time with anyone else anymore. You make me feel special and loved...and I want nothing more than to spend the rest of eternity by your side."
His smile grows wider as he looks at me tenderly, taking my hands in his. "Lana...I don't know how to thank you enough for these past few weeks. They were some of the most wonderful days I've ever had, and it breaks my heart knowing that we wouldn't have them if not for Open Day."
He pauses, seeming to choose his words carefully before continuing, "I can't promise you that things will always be easy or perfect...but I can promise you one thing: as long as you're by my side, nothing will ever feel wrong. You make me happy just by being yourself, and for that I am grateful beyond measure."
A slow blush creeps up onto his cheeks as he finally meets my eyes again. "So yes...Lana Morissette, I will be your partner in everything you mentioned: the Army, life, love...everything. And I hope someday, when we both finish our service here, we can begin a new chapter together as husband and wife."
I feel tears prick at my eyes as his words wash over me like warm waves of relief and joy. Closing the distance between us, I press my lips to his, pouring all of my emotions into this simple kiss: gratitude, love, relief...
"Oh someone is rather in charge. I should take you as my captain now?" i smile after kiss
I laugh softly against his lips before stepping back and wiping away the tears that have spilled over. "Perhaps...but just remember who's really in command here," I tease, poking him lightly in the side. "Now how about we go find somewhere to eat? My treat today!"
With a grin still playing across my face, I pull out my keys and lead him towards my motorcycle. "You have no idea what a relief it is to finally hear those words from you...it means more than you'll ever know." As we approach the bike, I help Toji-san onto the seat behind me before climbing on and starting up the engine.
Our future might still be uncertain, but with him by my side, it suddenly feels brighter than ever before. And for now? All that matters is enjoying this perfect moment together...and dreaming of what could be.
We find a quiet spot in restaurant and wait for your meal "If you are in charge and older maybe i should call you..." i mean to her and whispered "Call you mommy" *
I bite my bottom lip to suppress a giggle, casting him a sideways glance as he whispers his teasing comment in my ear. "Very funny," I say with a smile, unable to resist playfully punching his shoulder. "But you're right...mommy might sound pretty cute coming from your lips." I sigh contentedly and lean back against the booth, taking a moment to savor the feeling of being here with him like this: safe, secure, and more in love than ever before.
"So..." I begin, searching for something else to talk about as we wait for our food, "did you have any plans while I was gone? Or was it just another ordinary day at school?" I feel a light touch on my arm as he places his hand over mine, giving me a comforting squeeze.
"It's good to have you back," he says simply, and I know in that moment that our bond has only grown stronger in the time we were apart. As if sensing my thoughts, Toji-san looks up at me with those soulful eyes of his, a small smile playing on his lips. "I missed you too, Lana...more than you'll ever know."
My heart swells with happiness as I return his smile, feeling an overwhelming sense of gratitude and peace wash over me in that moment. No matter what the future holds, I know that as long as we have each other, everything will be alright...because together, there's nothing we can't overcome.
