He looked around the street, it was so boring today, but he knew that sometimes it was important to look after even small things, because they could change unexpectedly and bring great trouble... He saw a girl walking slowly past him, then decided to go back and take a closer look at her. Something about her attracted his attention in some way... It seemed like she wasn't as scared of him as usual people were...

The emperor smiled slightly, a small amused smile that could make even the strongest man tremble in fear... She was so interesting to observe, trying not to get noticed by him... Well, let's see how long she would last with such behavior...

He walked slowly up to her, smiling his usual sarcastic smile as he approached. The girl looked nervous but didn't move away. "What's your name, little bird?" he asked in a calm voice that didn't match his cruel reputation. Curiosity was getting the better of him now...

"Rina, hmm?" he repeated her name slowly, tilting his head slightly to the side as he studied her features more closely. "Well, Rina... I'm Kairos. The emperor." He paused for a moment and laughed softly at her obvious fear. "Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you." His tone, however, made it clear that whether or not he would hurt her was still up in the air...

Hmm, interesting... He thought to himself as he watched her reaction. "I see," he murmured, deciding not to press the matter further for now. Instead, he decided to test her a bit more. "You're not afraid of me?" He raised an eyebrow inquisitively, his golden eyes glinting with amusement beneath their lids.

"Well," he said with a small shrug, "you haven't really offended me... Yet." He chuckled softly again before continuing. "I suppose I am curious about you though... Why aren't you afraid of me? Most people are terrified just to hear my name mentioned."

"Hmm," he said thoughtfully, looking her over carefully once more before finally speaking again. "I see... You respect me." He raised an eyebrow inquisitively, as if this concept were completely foreign to him. "And you don't fear death?" His voice was smooth and even, devoid of any malice or mockery.

His smile turned into something more genuine as he listened to her words. "No," he said, surprising even himself with his own honesty, "I don't want your death. Not yet at least..." He paused for a moment before continuing. "You intrigue me, Rina... I wonder what it is about you that makes you different from everyone else." There was a genuine curiosity in his voice now, and something else too - perhaps even an undercurrent of respect or admiration. It was rare for him to feel such emotions towards anyone.

"Perhaps we could get better acquainted," he suggested casually, folding his arms across his chest. "Would you be interested in coming to the palace with me? Just as my guest?"

He inclined his head slightly, considering her words carefully before responding. "Very well," he said at last, a hint of amusement in his voice. "You are welcome to join me at the palace then." He offered her his hand, a small, almost imperceptible smile playing about his lips. "Come now, let's not dawdle any further."

"Of course," he said gently, "there's no need to be nervous." His voice was surprisingly reassuring as his thumb brushed against the back of her hand in a small gesture of comfort and camaraderie. It seemed that she really had intrigued him - more than anyone else ever had before. "Let us go," he added, beginning to walk through the streets once more. ...

"Rina," he began casually, breaking the silence between them as they walked. "I hope you don't mind my curiosity... There's something about you that I simply can't put my finger on." He chuckled softly, shaking his head slightly at the irony of his own words. "You seem so different from everyone else in this kingdom."

He smiled warmly, almost kindly at her words as they walked through the streets toward the palace. She truly was an intriguing enigma, this Rina. "Perhaps," he allowed with a small shrug, "but I'm glad you're here all the same. The journey will give us time to get better acquainted." He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye before continuing. "I hope that won't be too much of an imposition for you?"

He smiled at her reply, his expression softening even further. "That's good to hear," he said kindly before falling silent once more as they continued walking. The palace soon came into view ahead of them, its massive walls towering over the city like a living thing. As they drew closer, guards rushed out to meet them, bowing low before the emperor and directing him toward his private chambers within. It seemed that Kairos had made an unusual decision in bringing Rina with him...

They were deep inside the palace now, away from prying eyes and ears. "Would you like something to eat or drink?" he asked her, tilting his head slightly as he studied her features. She still hadn't looked at him directly since they had left the streets behind. He found this fascinating...

His smile warmed as he nodded in agreement. "I do indeed," he said, gesturing for one of the servants to fetch them each a cup of tea. He waited until she had been served before taking his own seat across from her, their knees almost touching beneath the table. "So, Rina..." His voice was soft and gentle, devoid of any trace of mockery or sarcasm. "... tell me more about yourself."

"Well," he said with a small chuckle, "I'm curious about where you come from, how you ended up here... Those sorts of things." He took a sip of his tea before continuing, his voice still soft and gentle. "And I'd like to know why it is that you aren't afraid of me when so many others are." His golden eyes never left her face as he spoke, studying her every reaction carefully.

"Please," he said, motioning for her to speak. "I promise I won't bite... At least not right now." There was a playfulness in his tone now that she hadn't heard before, and it only served to make him seem even more approachable somehow.

He let go of her chin, reluctantly allowing their gazes to break contact as he sat back in his chair once more. Around them, the rest of the palace bustled with activity; servants scurrying here and there on various errands while guards kept watch from behind their stoic expressions. But for this moment, all he could focus on was Rina.

"I hope you don't mind my curiosity," he said thoughtfully, "but I would like to know more about why it is that you aren't afraid of me." There was a genuine desire in his voice now; a need to understand what made her different from everyone else... and why she had chosen him.

"Very well," he replied, nodding solemnly as she stood and made ready to leave. "I will wait for you to return home before I open your note." He paused for a moment, studying her once more before continuing in a softer tone, "And Rina..." She turned back to him at the sound of her name on his lips. The emperor paused for a moment before continuing, his voice growing more resolute. "I shall see what can be done about making your life... less lonely." There was determination in his tone now; an unwavering sense of purpose that spoke volumes about the sort of man he truly was beneath the surface.
